please get the name. That's what I need. My Airtel 300gb is serving me for now. This starlink is alot of problems. Plus I only need to use this at home, so if I'm outside I will have to buy data again. Unlike my Airtel router which I can just carry or put in my car while I drive to anywhere. I'm not looking for where to spend money, but how to save it the more. You can snap the IPTV and post it here let's see😔
Won't you be paying more on the airtel overtime compared to monthly fee for starlink? Anyway, you know your lifestyle and you know starlink isn't for you. Starlink actually isn't for city but for bush.
Hope your airtel will handle high speed streaming? Cos I no trust these networks for streaming.

I've starlink and it eats only 100 Watts when it's running.
That's nothing for me who have 14k Watts of battery running the house offgrid.
I dey bush, so no nepa here.

Starlink is power hungry I was not expecting this consumption so I never bothered researching it was when I got I realised increase on my inverter consumption, had to check specs to see it's consumption rating 50w to 75w average.

Starlink is for those who have solved power problem and already using other ISPs.

I use Swift WwTx 10Mbps, paying 28k monthly, was frustrated recently, their service will go off for hours.

Starlink is just 4k addition monthly and outages is less than 1 minutes if any. Speed is close to 300Mbps on 5GHz.

That's 6 batteries of 12v 200amps.
I doubt you'll go buy inverter and batteries now just because of starlink. It's an investment done for light in the house. Then you now control the devices you use with it at home.
I only use 2 TV, starlink and lights.
From when sun goes down till it comes up again next day, the batteries won't even go down to 90% charge coz we don't use much things at night.

Bro, mine eats 100w.
Is that what you calling power hungry? That's like a ceiling fan.
Anyway, for me I've enough batteries so I don't feel the 100w. Maybe your backup is small that's why u feel it

Most of my appliance are energy saving, Imagine Starlink competing power with my Freezer of 120w, it consume more than my refrigerator, TV etc.

Yes power hungry for a router and Dish.. in comparison to traditional DSTV dish or Routers that only consume less than 20w

I have enough backup just noticed an increase and was wondering why

My biggest problems about starlink is not the fact that I need electricity. I have solar and can power it, if all comes to worse, I'll get a battery backup for it. Now here comes the problem, I go out alot to shoot video's, create content etc. That's where the router comes in place. If the router has access to battery in built, then I could squeeze it in my bag or my car when ever I move out. What's the point of paying 33k for data, while getting a small router and payin 10k extra just to have data to use outside? Maybe starlink is not for me,

Exactly. My soat could last me 8 hours, I was shocked it stayed 5 hours and died, that with my equipment on and my desktop chopping a huge 500 watts.

I de Niger state and I get 270 mbps.
How was yours slow?
Even 50mbps is very fast and OK.
I use solar so I've light 24/7. Why use this with nepa?
Also a tip to get high speed is by connecting to starlink via 5 GHz WiFi and not 2.4ghz. 5 gets you to almost 300. 2.4ghz gives you 20-100
I switched it to 5ghz too and started getting almost 300mbs.

I've the 5ghz on my smart TV since it needs to stream high definition videos on iptv and on ps5

On phone I hardly get the 5 GHz cos it doesn't show up on my phone always. At times it shows and I connect but most times it doesn't.

Do you get the 5 GHz always showing on your phone?

For the usage you explained, starlink residential is not for you. What everyone is getting is residential service which you can't move around if not it won't work outside your registered service address (your house).
But there's a service called portability which is extra 11usd on top of the 43usd. If you activate that, you can take it to any part of Nigeria and use it flawlessly though you'll be deprioritised outside your house.
I use RV Service and pay $53 montly. I can use mine anywhere and on the go.
But wahala is that the setup is bulky. You can't be carrying it around everywhere like that just coz you want Internet.
So please stick to your mtn or airtel mifi and carry it around for your work. Starlink isn't for everyone. It's for people in rural places who need Internet, and for in cities who use high amount of data and want to pay cheaper monthly for unlimited high speed Internet.
No isp in Nigeria will give you unlimited for 40k. You should be paying like 200k and it won't even be unlimited as such. The best option is fibreone but its 150mbps is even 70k and don't know if its true unlimited.

Make sure you put off the snow melting option completely coz that eats power.
It consumes when you starting it and it's searching for network, but after it has found and it's idle, it should be consuming around 40w

Lol, I have this same problem. I use two phones, my 11 pro max get the 5ghz signal all the time but my 12 pro max only gets the signal at night.

I have searched for solutions but didn’t find any, I feel it has something to do with the antennas or something. If you find a solution please let me know.

Goto settings, under advanced turn on Split 2.4 / 5 GHz Networks.
Name the difference networks accordingly.
Retype your password! Please retype your wifi password else you won’t be able to reconnect to your wifi.

Hit save and when you turn on your wifi you will see the two networks. Connect to the 5GHZ signal for faster speeds.

I got it and returned mine after 7 days and got my full refund. It was a waste. First off the thing only uses NEPA or direct electricity, the day NEPA do me she for 2 days I had no light and my small solar died, the next day I returned it. Plus the speed was not significant

Which state and area did you use it?

starlink is not unlimited, it 1 terabyte. Go and confirm very well before making quotes. I've already returned mine, starlink is not for people like me. It's a waste of time, space and money. I am always on the internet, maybe not a very heavy user, I used about 100gb a month, and that okay with me. With 20k I get 200gb on Airtel which I can carry around, yet i hardly finish it.

Its unlimited bro. Unlimitedly unlimited.
The 1tb mark is for residential service users and it begins in April and its for USA and Canada. Doesn't affect Europe, Asia or Africa.
Also, the 1tb is only Internet you use from 7am to 11pm. For residential service users they get priority meaning they'll always get 300mbps speed while others on RV Service or portability may get lesser, but only if its congested, if not even they will still get 300mbps.
After q residential service user crosses 1tb in daytime usage he'll become like RV user and be deprioritised but will still get 300mbps if not congested.

I use RV Service and I'm deprioritised and I still get 300mbps everytime coz Africa hasn't been congested yet.

Starlink is only doing that for USA and Canada that is congested but it hasn't even begun yet.

Get your facts right

Nna eh, the thing tire me.
My blackberry of over 10yrs ago sees the 5 GHz everytime same with my 7 year old lenovo tablet. It never blinks there.
But on my samsung s21 ultra that I use always the 5 GHz doesn't show. It only appears by luck and I catch it and enter. I'm tired. But not like I need that high speed on phone, but I love the assurance that my big phone should be seeing what old phones are seeing.

Solution I got is to change the 5 GHz channel on the router to around 150. But you don't have that setting on the starlink router, except you buy their Ethernet adapter, buy another type of router from market and bypass the starlink router then you can change the channel there and you'll see it always.

But na wetin man go do just because e wan de see 5 ghz? Chai

I guess it has something to do with the bands the signal is using and interference. I don’t need crazy fast speeds on my phone so am not bothered that much. Bypassing the router is not something I want to do know lol so I’ll just manage it like that.

Not the band but the channel. The band is already 5 Ghz. Also 5 ghz doesn't have much interference if at all any. Devices in the house all use 2.4 GHz like your microwave, your TV, your remote controls, dstv etc. Lots of 2.4ghz signals in a home and they can jam with your WiFi and make it slow. But 5 ghz doesn't have devices at home using it. Only that it has shorter range compared to 2.4ghz but definitely faster
