AndSunGorilla: That a very good idea my man. Thanks. I will take note of this. The initial carrot and stick I wanted to use was, he must be better than Ronaldo, Messi and Pele before I can allow him to take football as profession else no way, but the boy tell me say him better pass all of them. Na dere I began to think about him going for trail because of his confidence. Now, I will adopt your formula because the boy doesn't really have interest in studying though Automobile engineer is his second option. ✋ thanks alaye. 3 Likes |

JohnBullMySon: You may find this hard to believe even comprehend, but getting a UEFA A license doesn't make you a great coach. Coaching football and managing the team are two different skill sets. Some people possess both. Your UEFA A license is a bit like a driver's license, you pass your test and you can now legally drive. But your not a great driver. Experience, adaptation, exposure and understanding will increase your capacity and improve you. I've met many useless coaches with UEFA A licenses and many who are exceptional as well. And some who did not have the license but were way better. What I would say , exposure to different environments, participative involvement in different clubs and leagues will absolutely help to improve you as a coach not just the UEFA A license. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

forgiveness:My 10 year old also likes football, he's trying but he is not a Messi or Okocha. A condition for playing the small league in my city here in obodo oyinbo is God grades, bad grades, no soccer, dazall!! And really here in the US, that's what they do for guys playing sports for their schools, right from JSS, to be part of the school team, there are minimum grades they must get. I totally understand your thinking as a parent too, yes professional players make a ton of money, but for every 1 successful player you see, there are thousands if not more that failed. The chances of making it through professional sports is very very slim, hence not a bad idea to have a backup plan tbh. 2 Likes |

I have observed something from the CAF U20 groups at Egypt 2023. Strong football nations like Egypt, Senegal and Nigeria were grouped in A. Congo, South Sudan, Uganda & CAR were grouped in B. Why? |

forgiveness: I don't know if footballers are born ❓ What I do know is environmental factors, socio-cultural dynamics impact and learned abilities. And then there are natural affinities. Brazilian's have the samba dance 🩰 and it really gives you a skill set at a very early age where you can move your feet 🐾 super fast. Football is a dance , particularly the dribbling skill. Ajax introduced dancing as part of their training programme. Michael Beale was the U12 Development coach at Liverpool FC. Arsen Wenger explained that the tacit skills associated with dribbling, first touch, etc are all developed very early that's before 13. An academy will teach you a whole lot. But the greatest teaching comes from your environment and at the head of that is your parents. So spending copious amounts of time playing with your children in the park , having fun and doing football tricks, skills, etc, sons trying to outskill Daddy night and day is the greatest teacher. Boys will take those lessons and play street football ⚽ with their mates and further develop those skills to become an expression that is unique to him, your son. He may at this stage have a nickname like, ZZ. This is the beginning. Abedi Pele sons spent so much time with their Father in Ghana at his academy, he transferred so much to them. When they went to Marseille they already had their own distinct football ID. The rest is history. I know some Nigerian international who were exceptional players but didn't spend enough time with their children. They brought their kids to England, l couldn't bring them to any academy, the Academies were ready to take them immediately assuming skill transfer to children and Daddy's name. In my opinion it would have been shambolic for those kids and painfully embarrassing. So l didn't take them. If you can play 🐾football ⚽ score goals 🥅 with your children and create happy bonds and transfer a unique identity 🆔 and football ability that no academy can teach them. That transfer of skill includes Fathers values, discipline, diligence, respect, application, humility ,and the fear of God 🛐. That will make your son successful at football, successful in School as well as a true Fathers son and create an everlasting bond. Bukayo Saka had excellent results at school but he took a character from home to Arsenal Academy. Now if you know sabe play ball ⚽ Ah well you will have to find another way, sorry . 3 Likes |

JohnBullMySon: Are you talking about football or something else. A degree gives you an analytical expression that is transferrable to football coaching assessment and strategy, yes. But it's not the first ,it's just among the many attributes that can help you but it's not 🚫 the FIRST. Quite a lot if not most don't have university degrees. |

komekn: I totally agree with you on this. As a matter of fact, that is what I did with him when he started walking. I would dribble him all around in my living room while he cried and attempted to get the ball. I also tried to make him use both feet from that age but the boy changed from his right to his left foot. Later when he was 5 or 6 years old, I started teaching him how to shoot with different techniques. i.e how to score goal by practicing penalty shoot out with him. I made sure he is the goalkeeper because I wanted him to experience and feel the deception that comes with shooting (a feign shots and slow shots). Then I gave him the chance to try the techniques out on me as the goalkeeper. I noticed that was how he learnt his shooting techniques because I saw my skills trait in him. Later, I allowed him to play in the compound with boys on our street. I noticed his dribbling skills improved because Aba boys sabi play ball. In fact, what you said is true. One of his friend at Aba then didn't know how to play ball at 7 years but as he continued to play football on the street and park his skills improved dramatically at 10 - 11 years old. Environmental factor and social culture dynamic impact play major role in football development. Nowadays, I don't have time ooo but I will start again. 4 Likes 1 Share |

charlesemeka85: Long passing is not basic to any position played in football, not even for goalkeepers. First touch, short passing are the basics for all positions. Each position then has skills basic to it, for example for defenders, it is tackling and creating blocks. As it is with long passing not being a basic skill, so it is with dribbling. 2 Likes |
