budaatum: You're going to need to show me where I made this claim. My claim has always been that certain states follow the penal code. This is a simple fact. Show me where I said that all Nigerian law is based on the penal code. budaatum: OK, child marriage is cool if they are Muslims. Gotcha. 2 Likes |

CoolUsername: Are you suggesting I provide you with evidence you claimed Nigerian law is based on the penal code, which is what I contest with you? Perhaps go back and read what you wrote! CoolUsername:That would be according to you and your own limited ability to comprehend. According to me, please include, Muslim, Christian, atheist and pagan in the below, and include "child marriage" along with rape, since there's no difference as far as I am concerned. budaatum: Here is some stats about underage marriage in USA. Left to me, whichever party rules in the listed states, be they Democrats, Republicans, Muslim, Christian etc etc etc, should be kicked out so that whatever code that allows it is repealed and replaced with a consent age of 18. 1 Like

CoolUsername:LMAO. This dude is just grasping on straws. Ogun State, Lagos State, Anambra e.t.c all have the child right act. This has not stopped the massive paedophilia wirinet was talking about. You think wirinet does not know the child right act existed before making the post abi. 3 Likes 1 Share

CoolUsername:Regional problems? This thread is filled with screenshots that proves that it's a Nigerian wide problem. The North is very conservative, and we are still doing away with some old Islamic and cultural traditions. However, do you agree that paedophilia is a nationwide problem..Yes or No? 3 Likes 1 Share |

muhammaduyusufu: Paedophilia is a global problem. But let's not pretend that northern Nigeria is making the same amount progress as the rest of the country on this issue. Like, I know it's 1444 according to the Islamic calendar but y'all need to come into the 21st century. And if that offends you, too bad. Child rape culture should be relentlessly criticised, maligned, ridiculed, and mocked. Frankly, the time spent chasing 'bigots' would be better spent chasing paedophiles. |

budaatum: A penal code and a criminal code are both documents that compile the criminal laws of a jurisdiction. The terms are often used interchangeably, but there may be some differences depending on the context. Penal code may refer to the law that defines what acts are punishable and what penalties can be imposed for those acts. Criminal code may refer to the law that defines what acts are prohibited by the state because they are socially harmful. However, these definitions are not universal and some jurisdictions may use different terms or meanings for their codes. For example, some countries have a civil code that includes criminal law as well as other areas of law. |

CoolUsername: Enugurangers:Tell me about it. Below was a conservative American governor rejecting ban of paedophilia. The conservative governor of New Jersey declined to sign a measure into law. Conservative and Republican Chris Christie, a supporter of President Donald Trump, said such a ban would CONFLICT WITH RELIGION CUSTOMS. I guess myself and coolusername can finally agree on something.

CoolUsername: So, just to get it together. This is a Democratically elected NTSB official trying to tamp town the politicization. That being said, her statement is questionable. Her argument is that the regulation only applied to trains carrying 20+ class 3 flammable cars. And because this train only carried 3 such cars, the regulation wouldn't have impacted this train. Statutorily true, but still some interesting logic. Let me give you an example, in my company, we order parts for use in development and manufacture, and because there is a cost associated with using certain parts we tend to build around those parts, even though something cheaper may work. So, her argument is that the train industry wouldn't have eventually upgraded every car, given 1.) the cost of maintaining dual break systems/ parts and 2.) the complexities of scheduling these materials around which cars they can use. And also by killing that rule, it set a ceiling in terms of these types of regulations instead of floor. Meaning with a floor more regulations could have been added. or the implementaion could have been increased. I'm always open to being wrong. I'll respect her words, but I'm going to wait till other experts weigh in as this reasoning seems somewhat suspect. FYI, here is a video of Trump cutting regulations, saying he wants them to be lower than the 1960's. Think about all the new technology we've had since the 1960's (cellphones, implantable medical devices, etc etc.) . Regulations are bad until bad things happen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ykQdG51clqk |

CoolUsername: Fam, you've spilled a lot of ink trying to rationalize not being wrong in your initial statement and moving goalposts. Pedophilia is rampant not only in the northern states of Nigeria. And as, someone point out earlier, it's quite odd that a lot of people spend a lot of time here talking about "the pedophilia" problem in the US, whereas the US is globally one of the best in that regard and Nigeria is a multiples of times worse. 1 Like 1 Share |

CoolUsername: No one was arguing anything about the criminal code and/or the penal code until you brought it up. You may be right about it but I think the point people are making is that it wasn't relative to the initial statement. Re: American Politics Thread - 2024 Elections — Biden’s Presidency! by IjeBos(m): 4:37pm On Feb 24, 2023 |
CoolUsername: Exactly, because she is one person, no matter her position. Her statements haven't been peer reviewed, hence the "but I'm going to wait till other experts weigh in" part. And, I'm open to her words being validated. You seem to always fall into the same trap of blindly believing people who's opinions align with yours. You posted a clip of this Democratic appointed NTSB official because her words align with your view. I question everything that sounds suspect to me and then seek out those in the know, and then defer to the consensus. The "and then defer to the consensus" is the key part. |
Re: American Politics Thread - 2024 Elections — Biden’s Presidency! by CoolUsername: 5:07pm On Feb 24, 2023 |
IjeBos: She only posted factual statements, not opinion. Her statements would be easy to disprove if they were wrong. She quoted the rule that Trump rolled back and compared that to the train's payload, there isn't much room for interpretation here. If any of those facts were false, then it would be easy to find out. |

Re: American Politics Thread - 2024 Elections — Biden’s Presidency! by IjeBos(m): 5:58pm On Feb 24, 2023 |
CoolUsername: What she posted was not a factual statement. There were a lot of caveats left out to make it factual. Was trying to figure out her motivations for the statement.. and what do you know, she was appointed by Trump in 2018 to her position. So, part of the Trump administration that would have scrubbed these regulations. So, part of her defense would be a defense of herself. Not saying she isn't right, but it reaffirms my earlier suspicion to wait for other experts to weigh in. |

budaatum: You are the one who can't comprehend or understand what is going on. Coolusername tried for you. Words can be used interchangeably even if they have different meaning. your argument is that the Penal Code and the Criminal code are the same thing... and i am saying No... depending on the context. The Penal Code Act is the law concerning offenses and their punishment and it is applicable in the northern part of Nigeria. The Act was adopted on the 30th day of September 1960. The Penal Code Act contains a total of 25 Chapters and 410 sections. Interestingly, the Act has specifically provided therein as the general criminal law applicable in Abuja and enforceable in its courts. Hence, the Act established a Penal Code for the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja The Criminal Code Act is captured under Chapter 77 of Laws of the Federation, 1990 and is a Federal law in Nigeria. The Act is a law that covers criminal cases in the Southern part of Nigeria. The Act was first enacted in 1916. The first enactment was revised in the 1990’s Laws of the Federation revision. The Act contains a total of six (6) Parts, about 55 Chapters and 521 sections. The Criminal Code Act criminalizes a number of acts and provided punishments thereto. 5 Likes 1 Share
