Yes, I think it is.

I sincerely need all the help I can get as I have just been made aware by the Family Support Worker that he has made a referral to LADO. I am just confused and worried because of my profession, I don’t know what to do.
Please anyone with a useful information that can help my cause kindly reach out. These people are seriously on my case even though I have not been found wanting, it is even my wife that is even stricter with the children. Now they are trying to attack my career, to destroy everything I have laboured for…

County?

Your shire? Berkshire, Herts, Greater London, Lancashire, Devonshire, Greater Manchester, West or East Midlands, Anglia, Wales (they have their own counties), Northern Ireland (FATLAD), Scotland (their own counties like Aberdeenshire, Ayrshire etc) and so on.

Wahala for UK?

My missus was called into school too but that has been resolved and she has learned her lesson; all of us. Some Nja people no dey hear word or think they know best... Nja mentality should be left in Nja...

You should be fine in the end. This is not a straightforward case of abuse and there will be no real evidence against you except for the misconstrued or overblown words of the children... Things have happened but as long as you keep your noses clean and make some adjustments, then you will be fine.

Nothing you can really do but to maintain calm and not aggravate things, leave them to do their job... Also, do not lean too much on the children because they will still talk... Nothing like threatening to take them back to Nja but firmly letting them know that things might be rough for all of you and they should be careful what they say...

When i was living alone in one bedroom house my water bill was £16 a month with no meter but now family of 4, bigger property, the same water company, the same post code area and my bill is £24 a month with meter.

Though i think you are right regarding the usage factor, i just logged on to my online account to check our usage and i saw this: You are a super water saver. Let's keep working together

Good afternoon famz,

I am going through alot of mental stress right now, UKVI has really dealt with me so badly without committing any crime. I applied for a student visa, priority to be precise, bio was done on 20th of January, decision was made on 23rd January and I got BRP mail on 26th of January but could you believe that since then ukvi refused to send my passport back to TLS for collection, I have been battling with this for long, I keep going to IKEJA TLS but the truth is even the so called TLS are not ready to help and now my school told me not to bother coming again even if my passport is return back to me. Right now I want to ask, can ukvi be sue and also how can I request for my IHS refund? Please house help me

If you are a registered MLT in Nigeria then look for Medical lab assistant jobs on NHs websites. Some offer sponsorship. I am saying have other options apart from care.

CN you get someone a care job in Suffolk?

You will definitely get your IHS fee back!

Maybe there were issues with international mail but who knows? Why would they refuse to return your passport after giving you a VISA? That is difficult one.

When does your course start?

Hello house pls I want to confirm from those that recently got their Nigeria passport renewed, pls how was it sent to you?
- is it through the DHL?
- incase it was delivered through the DHL at your house and u were not around, did they drop it at the door hole or they drop a note for you to pick it at their office

pls kindly advice, bc my spouse travelled to Nigeria with expired for his dad burial and I need to DHL his new passport to him, so he has a passport to come bk, but my fear is that i will be at work and they might drop a letter for him to pick it up in their office. I don't know if I should tell him to give me authorization letter incase they return it bk to their office so I pick it

You should be very worried. You have two children corroborating the allegations of "abuse" and that's what the school is concerned about. In addition to this, one of your children is a vulnerable child with learning needs.

In Scotland, I know families that faced similar allegations and the kids were removed from their care. One was very recent. The kids told the teachers that their parents spanked them with belts meanwhile this was totally false. Parents were booked at police station and the kids had a full medical examination. The case were eventually closed after 6 months of torture for the family.

The issue is you or an aunty might have spanked or scolded those kids in Nigeria and its that experience they are relaying to their teachers.

You and your wife need to be united in this. If you are ever asked if you spanked your children whether Nigeria or Zimbabwe, tell them an emphatic NO. You will be asked your parenting style - Google to find out what's acceptable in the UK.

Were you sending your kids to school without snacks? The school might provide lunch but you have to provide snacks they would eat during breaks.

If you've not started already, you need to start "brainwashing" your kids with love and affection. Kisses, hugs, taking them to the park, mcdonalds, soft play center, bake with them at home, have Friday indoor movie nights with them etc. You need to get them to a place that when they are asked in school about their home life, their faces will lighten up with joy and they won't remember any negative experience meted to them by anyone either here or Nigeria.

Never ever let your kids go to school unhappy. It's usually in that mood or state of happiness that they get interrogated and say all sorts.

Make sure you don't shout at them.Shouting at kids in this country is termed emotional abuse and its totally unacceptable. When picking them up at school, show them love, give them hugs as those teachers will be watching your every move including your body language and interaction with your kids.

Be polite with the teachers and social workers. Any allegation that has been written in their assessment, you need to deny it and make sure its documented on their assessment that the allegations never happened. Do not raise your tone at them or anyone else.

The social worker can decide to visit your home at very short notice. Make sure your home is neat and tidy and same with your children's room. Display on the dining area or any area visible to the social worker basket of assorted fruits. Make sure you have food in your fridge - they can decide to open it and check (with your consent). Have toys around the house. These are things the social worker will look at when making their assessment on whether or not your home is a safe environment for your children.

Make sure you cooperate 100% with the social worker. They have the power to close this case or escalate things by 1000000% with a single phone call. If they suggest you go for parenting class, please attend. What you do not want is for them to note down that you've refused their help or you are a non-engaging family.

All the best.

I’m a newly qualified social worker. This is 💯. Spot on

My 7 yr son was asked to write a composition in school and the young lad wrote a Robin Hood kind of story. How the thief would rob Amazon warehouse and bring home toys and bikes for his children. He went on by saying the the thief was caught and he ended up being his dad. While the schools acknowledged his creativity I was invited for a chat about my past and a fresh background check was conducted on me. The young lad was also questioned and he told them he was simply trying to portray the extent his dad would go because he loves them. Matter still nor end till I called their bluffs. Meanwhile I wasn’t living in the same county with my family as at the time.

With that in mind, I ensured I erased the hard-steel naija parenting style from their memories to avoid future invitations using those steps you mentioned above

What type of background check do you mean?By the school or your employer? Schools do not conduct background checks on parents

Which school is that? Have you received your passport now? Truth is most of the schools don't understand what it takes to apply for visas and because they saw your BRP, they probably believed you are the one stalling on resuming. The issue too may be a TLS one, they are so tardy when it comes to managing passport returns.

Your course starts on the 30th of Jan 2023 and you applied for visa on 20th of Jan 2023? Even with priority you have yourself to be blame for this.

Arrange with your school to push your admission to Sept, you will not be able to get IHS refunded because your application was successful

What led to the delay is IOM results, IOM delayed the TB test certificate for more than 10 weeks before they release it and school was aware of all this delay. The same week the IOM TB certificate was released is the week I applied for the Visa. My issue is priority is usually 5 working days to get the decision and also return the passport back to TLS, so why was the passport delayed even till now it has not been return back to me. Can I sue UKVI for this?
