helpee: Do not forget that the word real time was used. Real time means instant at the polling units. The reason for that as explained several times by Mahmoud is to avoid fraud or tampering with the result sheets. In the Nigeria where we are, do you think that with the politicians, a little delay with uploading or whatever to the INEC server of results would never be exploited? |

seunmsg:I don't know how true your claims are. The uploading should have been done immediately after the voting and counting. The delay gives room for suspicion that something is fishy. However, it is never late to do the right thing. The intimidation of voters who do not intend voting for a particular party which is viral and the seeming silence from the security agencies is another thing Let those that win win clearly and magnanimously and let those that lose lose clearly and gallantly. 2 Likes |

seunmsg: So you are saying INEC proposed an online system but didn't think far enough about hardening the system to cyber attacks even with the massive budget they were given? Way to say they were unprepared. The fact remains delaying the upload of most of those sheets taints the election and videos going around of intimidations and outright falsification casts a very big doubt on the authenticity of the numbers being called. Well all know the truth in this country. Let's not start doing mental gymnastics to explain why black is suddenly white. 4 Likes |

TheOldGods:what are you saying? I can’t see anything. Anyway, this argument is not necessary. The facts remain that The act did not make electronic transfer compulsory, did not specify when the transfer should be done, only insist that what was collated, recorded and transmitted is what was announced. That is the summary. Any other thing na emotion . What the opposition should do is to compare whatever results they transmit and compare it with what was announced. The discrepancy can be challenged. Until then, immediate upload of results is not a criteria for announcing polls |

Emotions don't win elections Grassroot politics is still important Data analysts are important in winning Hire professional PR and communication experts not those that will insult your potential voters, enjoy your day guys as we await the announcement of the Elect-President. 8 Likes |

gheekhone: You’re the one doing mental gymnastics and not me. What is playing out is what I have explained. Ask yourself for a minute, why is PDP not disputing the collated results from states since they have copies of all the results from the polling units to the state collation points? They did not ask for server upload at the ward collation centre before endorsing the results, they did not ask for server upload at the LGA collation center before endorsing the results and they did not ask for server upload before endorsing the results at the state collation centers. So, why are they trying to disrupt the national collation over something that would have been more useful at the ward collation centers? 6 Likes |

seunmsg: I'm not sure you understand the meaning of mental gymnastics. The whole purpose of electronic transmission was because of cries of tampering in previous elections. Those previous elections had party agents involved and it was still felt it would be better if results were transmitted to a server. Now, this wasn't done in a timely manner. Does that not defeat the purpose? I'm talking about mental gymnastics because some of us are trying to use technicalities to explain why it doesn't matter that they weren't uploaded immediately. It matters. It matters a lot. As a matter of fact, those results should have been uploaded in the presence of all party agents and maybe the whole process even recorded on camera because we know the level of rot in this country. Stop defending the indefensible. 1 Like |
