The professionals are operating with models based on Western society. As far as they were concerned Peter obi was a Nigerian Obama.

Obama sef didn't contest under Libertarian he contested under an established party

Proper electronic transmission of results will require much more capital investment and possibly dedicated polling stations. Maybe inec can rent bandwidth from starlink in 2027.

Most of our isps are too flaky to provide a real time reliable connection to the server.

For most of yesterday my airtel was acting up so badly I thought my modem was faulty.

Glo has always been shit.

Swift is good but on Sunday signal kept disappearing. Now imagine you are doing an upload to your inec server and signal is failing every 30 seconds

You are right.

Most presiding officers had to use the wifi on their phones to operate BVAS because its own network was acting up cheesy

Will this be worth it for an election that only happens once in four years? Rivers state alone has over 4000 polling units

And most importantly, why do we need it?

Your dedicated polling station would have a hard wired network connection to an always available isp.

Anything less than that and you will continue to have upload failures, imho.

I just answered you na. We are still using ballot boxes and papers. BVAS snap the results sheet and upload.

Nothing like live electronically transmission of results.

What infrastructure?

Maybe someone can correct me - but what actual network infrastructure is available to inec?

Have you tried refreshing pages when your Internet connection is misbehaving?

Have you tried sending docs via WhatsApp when your connection is paraing

What about online meetings?

The infrastructure wasn't designed to stream online meetings, it was designed to send jpegs. The same infrastructure allowed for the uploads of HOR and Senate results, but prevented the uploads of presidential election results.

They had a 4G SIM from MTN and some other providers. There were issues here and there with it.

Omo, this will cost a lot of money. Plus ISPs charge a monthly subscription fee for that kind of service whether you use it or not.

A lot of them actually issued disclaimers that while what they're reporting is what the data tells them, they're well aware that Nigeria is not a real place...no way they'd include Wike, Akabio, Lalong, Oshomhole/Obaseki, Uzondima, Umahi, El-Rufai and whoever else they were working with in Delta and FCT rigging elections for Tinubu in a professional data sampling.

They did their job and reported what their data told them, and if you discount the rigging by APC and PDP, you'd see they were correct.

If you don't know all the factors affecting what you are predicting then you shouldn't bother

It's like someone predicting that Nottingham Forest will beat PSG because he checked the list of CL winners and Forest had won twice and none for PSG

Without finding out the current state of both teams

If his candidate had won , what should happen to the millions of Nigerian who voted Tinubu? They should also advocate for breaking the nation? I wonder who Sooroye Peter Obi will govern
Whether Obi won or not, restructuring is the way to go.

If that doesn't happen, people will eventually clamor for breakup.

I know for people like you, it's a taboo for Nigeria to work as a functional democracy and federation as countries like the US where you're currently.

So, I'm not surprised that you oppose restructuring or breakup.

You can enjoy the strong American democratic institution but don't want something similar in Nigeria.

You know the current system is faulty and Tinubu won't be able to do much, which is why you're urging people to japa.

But you oppose the solution to the rot, even though we both know a majority of Nigerians can't afford to japa.

Did you read what lstrm said?

Most of the officers were using their phone WiFi to upload. The issue is not about data capture, it is about data transmission.

If different people are using different isps, phones, devices etc, of course they will have different qos upload experiences.

Have you seen the size of some of those files? I had to restart my phone before I was able to download one of them earlier today. It was 14MB

It does seem like there was no restriction on the size of file they can upload.

The turnout was too low than was expected. Many people didn't vote due to lack of or late arrival election materials.

Also, where did APC gather 66k votes and PDP just 3k? In reality, APC should see less.

But let's leave this to imagination.

That's why I said fg should look at an arrangement with starlink. Assuming it lives up to the hype, it will be available everywhere. Not just in city centers. Go into the Bush /rural area and you will find coverage has kleg. It is just to get service for a period of say 96 to 120 hours. Do your test run, confirm bandwidth is available, and then commence. Elections cost money everywhere when you want to push for integrity

I am an engineer. When I am planning for projects here I factor in Nigerian issues. I do the same thing if I am designing.

What these so called pollsters have done is like designing a facility for Nigeria and assuming it will have utility water and nepa. Planning the project and not leaving slack for community.

It looks good on their paper, but to any experienced Nigerian it cannot work

One of the things a sound analyst does is to know the environment they're analyzing

It's like making a projection for a project in Nigeria and do not factor in facilitation fees aka bribes

I have done this for several major multinational companies who entered a partnership with Nigerian companies. One of them a company from New Orleans running a project in the Niger Delta had facilitation fees of about 37% of total project cost

They conducted a poll that predicted who the electorates were likely to vote for, their poll wasn't which governors were likely to rig the most. They were clear on the source of data, maybe their mistake was not asking Wike how many persons he would kill in the course of rigging elections for BAT or asking Yahaya Bello whether this was a good time of the year to excavate roads or not.

In my direct experience, the only truly reliable network isp is mtn. And even they dey cut sometimes. We saw it two weeks ago.

Once you work from home and have to manage Internet as part of your business costs, you will experience all these failures and more.
