She "did" act and it was good. it was a lot less than her usual "eccentric" persona.

Sad..... R.I. Power to your Oldman.

She was really lauded by lots of critics back then for the movie. I haven't yet seen the film but the general acclaim she got after made me stop judging her craft with just a glance.
Thanks guys.

Guess I'll check the movie out.

The Whale..8/10

Brendan Fraser delivers a performance of a lifetime, he really made me tear up a few times.

As for Sadie Sink, I think she's kinda always typecast for sadistic roles, and to be frank, she's really great at it. I thought she was a sadist in Stranger Things until i saw this movie.

I strongly believe he should. He really owned the role and his act & his display of emotions were so on point.

I'm rooting for him to win.

His career was almost over after the The Mummy 3.

Many him chop this win at least.

Wonder why the sequel took too long especially after Sonic came with good audience and critics reception and made bank. Even got a sequel released and a TV show before this one even got to production. 🙄

well . . .

looking at the video, all i see is white kids

this is also how the rest of were subconsciously taught we are side characters in the world.
it is also one of the reasons for reverence of the most mundane of oyibos
if at the minimum, the shoe has an ethnically diverse cast of lost boys, i am for it

have you watched wednesday - the villain bully characters in the shoe were black. it was refreshingly funny and ironic
you should watch the show anyways - if you haven't

Ethnic diversity is not my issue, but the reinvention of the stories to fit modern audiences. Why not simply write new stories rather than mess with the old ones??

Existing ip is a safer bet

Also, this has always been happening, you just may not have noticed it

Did you watch King Solomon mines and Alan quatermain and the lost land of gold? They butchered those movies. Got rid of sir Henry and John good and turned the story into an Indiana Jones clone.

Look at the multiple iterations of romeo and juliet

Or a Christmas Carol.

Where do we even start with Dracula or the werewolf?

Or my personal fave avengers before the avengers - the league of extraordinary gentlemen

Classic literature will unfortunately always be massacred and mangled for what the producers think modern audiences expect. It goes way beyond Disney.

The Crow (1994)..... 5.5/10

I went in thinking this would be a joyride. Mainly checked it out cos of Brandon Lee and his wild death on the set of the film.
It has some of the campiness of the early 90's.
It's enjoyable for the most part but I'm hardly seeing it deserving the high critic scores on RT and Metacritic.
Took me the whole of last week to complete. I was just dozing off. 🙄

Sharper..... 7/10

Really enjoyable movie. Great acts from Julian Moore and Sebastian Stan. Nice plot and execution.

The whale 7.5/10

The whale is a sad depiction of a man living out his regrets and mistakes by self harming. He self harms by eating excessively and this obviously takes a severe toll on him as he becomes extremely big and unhealthy.

One of his regrets and mistake was his daughter whom he left at a young age. He tries to at least make this right to an extent by trying to reconnect with her. Does he succeed in doing this? Well, you will have to see the movie to find out.

One of the strengths of this movie is the ability to pique the curiosity of viewers thereby engaging them fully. This movie made me ask myself questions and sometimes left my mouth ajar in awe.

The cast though made up of few actors all did exceptionally well. This is backed up by some award nominations some of them have gotten.

Brendan Fraser is the main star of this movie and he gives a performance befitting of a star. He conveyed emotions quite well and was more than convincing with his role as an overweight man. Sadie Sinks, I think did played her role too well. She annoyed me from start to finish(this is not to put a dent on her performance, but to show how well she played her role). But I think she should try out roles different from what she’s currently known for so she doesn’t end up a typecast. Hong Chau and Ty Simpkins did very well too.

This movie is a very good one as the rating suggests and one I would recommend.

A man called Otto...7.5/10

"Otto" is played by Tom Hanks and his style of acting was nothing short of brilliant.

"A Man Called Otto" is a beautiful love story retold in timely flashbacks from the present to the past that don't jump all over the place like some movies do leaving you feeling disoriented. Hanks real life son, Truman, plays "Otto" in his youth.

In the course of the movie, you'd learn where his pain comes from in his life as he eventually opens up. Otto will make you laugh, cry and sigh so come with your tissues.

The only time I felt remotely close to tears was the accident scene that was accompanied with Kate Bush's version of 'This Woman's Work". It was so poignant cry

I had no idea Maxwell wasn't the original singer. Awesome song
