A Nigerian lady, Ngozi has taken to Twitter to express sadness over her friend who was once wealthy but is now working as a bus driver to make ends meet.

The lady recounted her experience after meeting her friend. She disclosed that he used to be rich and would often given her money during their NYSC.

However, she was shocked to find out that he now works as a bus driver and is broke. She wonders what could have gone wrong with him between 2019 and 2023. She also adds that he was so ashamed following their encounter.

She wrote:

“It’s heartbreaking when u see ur frd who used to be rich and now a bus driver. What happened to him btw 2019-2023. I had to meet him, he was so ashamed. This guy used to dash me money then in nysc 20k, 30k . My night is ruined”

As a Matter of fact, I've a neighbor just like him here...This particular dude used to live in Benin with his family..Very wealthy and whenever he was going out during weekends for his normal flexing, entourage were always accompanying him....But within a blink of an eye,he lost everything and he had to relocate back to Delta state.....Dude is now an okada rider......

Las las, things dey happen for this life......Pray make your own no turn out to be like some stories wey you dey hear when God don finally pick your calls....

The problem is perception. We are too quick to want to label people as "rich" and impose a burden on them to keep up. So some people in order not to lose face try to...
When I was a contract staff for a brief period with ExxonMobil, I never told anyone I was working there. The few close people that knew, tried to make me live up to the hype, but didn't mince words in telling them, there was a big difference between a full staff and myself.
So, when before covid we were laid off and covid lockdown meant no offices was hiring, I had to use my car and drive as uber. I still felt bad, but not as bad as if I had hyped myself.
And also, I'm a giver, I could give you even my last cash.. But I later learnt to start saying NO cos I just realized one day, these people will still be okay, whether you give them or not. So now, I don't go overboard with giving.

This story reminds me of 2017/2018 na Oil money Dem dey call me, even as a corper then.

Because during my service year,I was employed in an oil firm and the pay was mad 300+ along side my alawee.

And during that period, I was investing most of my funds in Crypto. Dec. 2017 market boom ...and I didn't pull out $1, thinking that by April 2018 my POP month, money will full every where to buy land and build house.
