God bless you. does the i-20 come together with the DS160?, For the SEVIS can't I use my dollar card to make the payment?, I don't have anyone in the US who can make the payment from their end. The VISA fee, is it at black market rate or official rate? Must it b at GT bank? Pls do u have an idea on how long it takes to get booked for interview ?
No, form I-20 is a document that officially invites you to come study in the US by DHS. Your school will give you.

You'd go fill and submit your DS160 on the webpage. Visa fee is paid only at GTbank in Naira equivalent. Find someone you know or trust in the US to pay SEVIS fee on your behalf. You'd have to give him Naira black market rate.

Oakland is having a Graduate Open House, where you can receive a waiver for the application fee if you attend one of the events.
You can use the link below to register your interest for the open house.

VO: Good morning, can I have your documents
ME: Good morning

VO: How are you today
Me: fine, thank you
VO: what is the name of the school?
ME: Houston community college

VO: why this school
ME: (I forgot everything I wanted to say and just ratted random facts about my application process and how I like their approach)
VO: who's your sponsor?

Me: my Father will be sponsoring me.

VO: what do your parents do?
Me: My dad is an engineer, my mum's a teacher

VO: (looks at the computer then turns to me with a questioning look) how long since you graduated high school?

Me: Four years, I graduated in 2019.

VO. What have you been doing?

Me: (told her)

V.O: okay, After your Associates degree, do you plan to get a Bachelor's?

Me: (I sighed deeply, My mind was completely blank and just muttered the first words I could think of)
I just want to get this degree first, after that I'll think of the Bachelor's.

V.O: (smiles broadly and looks back at the computer)

V.o have you been out of the country before

Me: Not at all.

She typed for a while then looked at me with a smile and brought out the white paper
V.O I'll be approving your visa...blah blah blah

Me: (Screaming Thank you Jesus in my head)
She kept my passport with her and handed me my documents and the white paper.

I went in telling myself "All is well" and all went well.
I've heard of alot of refusals based on community college and I just want to thank God for making my case different. Thank you to everyone on this platform, honestly you've all been of great help to me, God bless you all abundantly.

It is not true I have a friend with your kind of profile here in the states.
She got full funding plus stipend.

Go for your visa please .

Hello all,

I have applied for Masters in English literature and i got a funded offer with full tuition waiver waiver. I read a comment on nairaland that the VO may not approve the visa because my country is an English speaking country and i am also fluent in English. I am a writer and I also work as a social media manager. Please should i be worried about this.

Naira pls, #90,000
N90k/month?
If you’re fully funded, I dont think that your salary matters?
Do you have any deficit in your 1-20 that needs to be self-funded?

I got two offers from Michigan tech, but none came with fundings. Seems they are stingy with funds.

Since your salary can't be altered, why can't you work on how you can prove to VO that you have other source (s) of income. Boost your account balance also.
Mimisharon23:
Please I need an urgent and honest response

Has anyone with a fully funded phd offer ever gone for their f1 visa interview with a salary below #90,000 as a research assistant and got their visa approved? Without questions about finances…do you have to increase you monthly income above 100,000… pls kindly respond

I’m sorry, I don’t understand your answer, boost my account balance? But ds160 clearly shows that salary
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Gokoyer0(m): 8:20am On Mar 09, 2023
I mentioned that you cant change your salary but you can put more money into your account.

Having said that, i will advise you that you should just prepare very well for the interview and show VO what you are made of. Be confident and hand over everything to God.
All the best!

Thank you very much, but do people with fully funded offers go for their interview with acct statements?
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 17 by Gokoyer0(m): 8:32am On Mar 09, 2023
Yes ofcourse. Your bank account is also one of your home ties to Nigeria. It shows that you are working. It doesn't matter if you have full funding or not, take along with you all the necessary documents. If you have any real estate properties or gifts, take along the evidence also. When VO asks for anything, you can give it to him/her. Don't force any document on him. Only hand over document that is being asked from you. Gurus in the house can also add theirs also.

Just go for your interview abeg. Nobody will ask you for any statement and you certainly don't need to boost nothing. You are fully funded for crying out loud.

This is the link first to create/fill out your DS-160 application (you may choose not to complete the form immediately but remember to copy out the application ID somewhere for easy retrieval of your application for continuity).

https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/

This is the link to book an appointment after paying the visa fee at GTB ($160 current conversion rate is 460, which is N72,000). You will need the Application ID from your DS-160 to book the appointment. Just follow the instructions on the site below.

https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/

SHALOM!!!

Thanks Sir, that's to say I need to get my documents ready before I can apply for an appointment?
Also, how long on queue can I be if I start my application this month of march?

No one can tell for certain but remember the cliche "make hay while the sunshine."
If money is not an issue, I see no reason for delaying this.

My thoughts are exactly as yours. Why does he/she need Naija salary when fully funded? Is there something he/she is not telling us?

Lol, you don't need any acct statement. I also have a similar profile to yours. A colleague of mine who was a research assistant like me is currently in the USA. He stated that he got #25000. However, he is fully funded with no deficit and he was given his visa.
