Train/Bus Accident: Sanwo-Olu Declares Three Days Mourning Period In Lagos Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has declared 3 days mourning period in his state following the unfortunate accident that occurred as a moving train rammed into a state bus conveying civil servants to work in the state on Thursday, March 9, IGBERETV reports. He wrote on his Twitter handle; "I was at LASUTH to understand the condition of the victims of the bus/train accident. https://twitter.com/jidesanwoolu/status/1633836396673912832?t=8bGPReA3Ccc_axCTNMAjxw&s=19 14 Likes 1 Share

TMSMedia:Lagos State Govt is culpable. Even if the NRC staff who are supposed to man the intersection refused to report to work, why not install traffic lights at the various intersection to save your own people? Afi ariwo heee, bii loudspeaker that the puppet is known for Secondly, employment into public offices in Lagos is done on a man-know-man basis, instead of merit-based. Just obtain a letter from one baalę or a political figure and you have the job. Those BRT drivers are reformed moluę drivers mainly recruited with the aid of the oluomo boys who broke away from the NURTW. People should just take a look at those buses when ambode brought them in and how their looks are now...in barely 4 years. Most of the used luxury buses plying mainland-island routes, owned by individuals were transport buses abroad for many years before they were sent to Africa . Had they employed drivers on merit, the buses would have been well maintained, drivers too would have acted professionally. I remember that foolish brt driver who killed that pretty girl he picked at lekki that night and dumped her body by the roadside. See what another brt driver had done today Quackery wouldn't have a place in employment meant for professionals anymore. A new, people-friendly government is coming. Would the 3 days of mourning bring back the dead? Mr governor, just ensure that the families of the victims are properly cared for, and provide proper medical care to those in hospital at zero cost. 9 Likes |

Jostoman: They are definitely not going to vote for IPOB supporters. We don't want unknown gunmen to have a field day here in Lagos like they do all over SE. Yorubas can't entrust Lag to GRV at the moment. 16 Likes 2 Shares

Very sad day. I saw this earlier. https://www.nairaland.com/7604047/lagos-train-bus-crash-avoidable Obi isn't different from them. He's the same. Just complaining now cos he's not in power just as Buhari did till he was given chance and he messed up. A national tragedy like this need not to be used as playing politics. Commiserate and leave. Don't say it's avoidable as if LASG isn't doing enough. It was clearly accounted the driver was careless and was with ear piece. Only in Nigeria will politicians be capitalizing on tragedy. It's just to show you they aren't different. They v just not gotten there that's why they appear as heroes. 5 Likes 1 Share |

Really disturbing news I hope the government can probe this and get the root cause analysis. What barriers could be put in place to prevent future occurrences? what structure or process need to be reviewed or implemented to prevent it from happening again. Is the driver qualified or suffering mental problem? is he mad? What processes are in place to clear a driver "fit to drive" before he moves? IS there any alert in place to notify the train that there is an obstacle ahead and automatically activate the breaking system? So many questions to be asked and addressed 4 Likes |
