Your guarantor's international passport must have six months expiration.

Hmmmmm. I just left the Alausa passport office without collecting mine and my daughter's passport. They even misplaced my husband's collection slip without issuing the passport(thank God I snapped it before dropping it).

We are told to come back in 2 to 3 weeks. Seriously, those officers on duty today were out to frustrate we DIYs but we muveeeee.

Local Government letter of identification or State of Origin Certificate. Original and photocopy.

Birth certificate (if you're born after 1992) / Age declaration (if you're born before 1992). Original and photocopy.

You will be able to have access to the guarantor's form when you pay the application fee either at the banks approved by NIS or online. Only one person is mandated to sign the guarantor's form. It could be a family member or a friend.

NIS officers will sight the hard copies of your birth certificate, NIN slip, payment slip, acknowledgement slip, state of origin certificate on the day of your appointment.

(1) He or she will need to present written permission signed by you and his or her photo identification. This permission should include your name and signature, and the name of the person collecting the passport on your behalf.

(2) Move the mouse pointer over Passports on the menu bar, and then click on Application home on the menu bar. Move the mouse pointer over the Processing Link on the menu bar, on the drop down menu that appears, click on Interview [reschedule]. Enter your reference number and Application ID and click on Search Record. Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Re-schedule button. Your application is redisplayed with a new interview date.

(3) I wouldn't suggest fast track process...

My passport is at UP stage and cannot wait for those 2weeks. I plan on checking tomorrow, Pls can anyone advise on how i can collect my passport tomorrow and not get turned down.

I captured December 12th, and from information i gathered so far, the officer at the collection point or gate is likely to turn December slip down because of it being UP stage.

Update from Alausa/ikeja NIS center.

If you captured december 1st to 19th, your passport is ready.

Those who captured december 20th and upwards, your passport printing starts today

Those who captured on the 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd can go pick up their passports from 16th of this month

And for those who captured 24th to 31st can get theirs anyday from 21st to 30th of March respectively.

This update is from the PCO Alausa NIS center, was in her office today.

My DIY Experience at Festac Passport Office

I think things have changed and the process for DIY at Festac was very easy. I filled out my form online, total spent was 26,000. Then I proceeded to gather all my documents.

-NIN slip( one photocopy)
-Filled and signed guarantors form(signed by a commissioner of oaths)
-Photocopy of the data page of your guarantor's passport (some people forgot to take this along
-Original birth certificate and indigene cert with just one photocopy of each
-1 copy of your online application
-2 copies of your payment slip
-1 copy of appointment slip.
- Marriage cert for married women

I got to the office by 7:30 am, we had to wait till 8:00 am before the gate was opened and we were allowed to go in after they addressed us.

For DIY go straight to the servicom unit and submit your appointment letter (they did not open till 9:00 am thou).

Then go and sit down in the hall. They will verify your application. Ensure your NIN info is the same as the info you filled out online.

After they have verified, they will come to the hall to call your name, follow them to their office, where they will tell you how to arrange your documents, they will also ask to see the original copies. Then a file will be opened for you.

You will take this file to the capturing centre and tell them you want to submit for enrollment (do not join the queue for those who are going in for capturing, you will be asked to stand up). Go back to the hall and wait for your name to be called for capturing.

When your name is called, collect your file and go for capturing. Viola.

I finished everything by 11:30 am.

Atleast everyone would have entered, you might not meet those guys that turn people back at the gate
Planning to do that too
I have always been going early and they always turn me back saying it's not ready at the gate
If you get to enter I don't know what else you will face

From what my contact said , “up” is when the newly produced passport passes through some process before it becomes ready.

That is how they told me it was not ready too but I was able to find my way in by afternoon and spoke to an officer to help me check. So try to go in the afternoon.

Exactly..no more waiting..I could not believe my eyes, I came by 8.30 and captured by 11.45, reissue...everything is so coordinated....planning to do for my kids next month...i will recommend festac center for DIY's...you don't know what to do?....just ask any officer and you will be informed...

Yes it has to be ticked as well which implies that it's ready for collection, I also captured in Festac on November 15,we are in the same stage,waiting for it to be ready.

my mum want to renew her passport and she didn't have a NIN yet we are planning to go get the NIN done tomorrow and I want to know if is possible to get it done and verified in the space of a month

But I will advice If you didn't know anyone or an immigration officer there don't go there because the excuse for DIY applicant is that they didn't have booklet yet but if you are doing fast track with an immigration officer
he will Get the booklet ready before your arrival
