It is actually the fees that can only be paid at LGAs that grind my gears. Because I am sure they are padding them or running scams. It is always pay cash, pay to my account. Money going into an LGA black hole.

But we have grv, who actually proposes to take us all the way back to a system where everyone is paying everything to one local govt tout for a receipt that is not worth the paper it is printed on.

If I do my vehicle licence at a bank, I instantly get an alert. If I do at LGA, all I get is a printout and a prayer.

Highways, flyovers, railways etc should be strategic infrastructure designed to drive industrial growth. They are not the only factors needed but they are necessary. For a start, industrial 'estates' must have good roads for the movement and transport of raw materials and finished products. If the roads are good and dependable, company spends less on maintenance of trucks and trailers, fast delivery etc. Add these together and you get more profits, more taxes.

When companies make bigger profits, they think of expansion and when you expand, employment becomes a necessity. I am not saying strategic road and rail infrastructure are the only thing needed for rapid industrialization but of course they are one of the necessary factor. You still need quality technological education, security, productive population etc

A working functional road along an industrial axis means more accurate project planning.

I think the plan by GRV is to create alternative routes that commuters can use in order to decongest the main route.

It can be preferred for some to spend two hours free drive on the alternative than four hours on a traffic jam on the main route.

Look at the map and suggest how that will ease commuting time. And any road would not be traffic free at peak time. 2hrs every morning and evening is hardly a solution to anything

1. Materials for road construction you will buy from multiple vendors that's money going to companies.

2. Road construction is labour intensive you need to hire many hands. Worker that was probably jobless now has change to take care of wife, kids, mother in the village and maybe mistress.

3. Workers will need to eat and drink something meaning mamaputs, eateries will spring up to cater to their needs. They'll probably also need medicare from work related hazards or injuries throw in doctors and nurses that will be needed to treat them.

4. For the industrial growth bit I produce goods in my little company getting it across town to my client is hell due to traffic, bad roads or lack of alternative route which leads to loss in man hours that ultimately affects the bottom line. Now an access road has been built that allows me to faster get my products to my customers this means I can take on more orders in a day, leading to bigger profits which means I can hire more people that will help reduce the unemployment market.

All this few points I mentioned you can imagine how it would be if we had multiple projects running around the country. If your average northerner knows he can earn go money working in some major project scattered all over his state why would he leave his comfort zone to come to Lagos where his chances of making are not 100% sure?

A place like Tinapa apart from providing work to the locals who were involved in its construction would have continued to provide job opportunities linked to tourism and entertainment but sadly the governments of the day both state and federal didn't leverage on it.

For example if the Lagos State government hadn't leveraged on the opportunities that LFTZ offered the place would have become another white elephant project.
