No, Jehovah’s Witnesses are not a cult. Rather, we are Christians who do our best to follow the example set by Jesus Christ and to live by his teachings.

What is a cult?

The term “cult” means different things to different people. However, consider two common perceptions regarding cults and why those perceptions don’t apply to us.

1) Some think of a cult as being a new or unorthodox religion. Jehovah’s Witnesses have not invented a new religion.

On the contrary, we pattern our worship after that of the first-century Christians, whose example and teachings were recorded in the Bible. (2 Timothy 3:​16, 17)

We believe that the Holy Scriptures should be the authority on what is orthodox in matters of worship.

2) Some think of a cult as being a dangerous religious sect with a human leader.

Jehovah’s Witnesses do not look to any human as their leader. Rather, we adhere to the standard that Jesus set for his followers when he stated: “Your Leader is one, the Christ.”​—Matthew 23:10.

Far from being a dangerous cult, Jehovah’s Witnesses practice a religion that benefits themselves and others in the community.

For example, our ministry has helped many people to overcome harmful addictions, such as the abuse of drugs and alcohol. In addition, we conduct literacy classes around the world, helping thousands learn to read and write.

And we are actively involved in disaster relief.

We work hard to have a positive impact on others, just as Jesus commanded his followers to do.​—Matthew 5:​13-​16.

But from the perspective of those hungry and thirsty for righteousness sake {Matthew 5:6} they will know the truth which will set them free from Satan's tactics of recruiting killers {John 8:32} so they will have the same line of thought with their Master, Lord and King Christ Jesus who also have the same line of thought with his father and God {John 17:22} since faith is not a possession of all kinds of people {2Thessalonians 3:2} faithless miscreants won't see anything good in the organization of faithful people who have formed one big and happy family of peace loving worshipers globally! Well it's not compulsory that everyone commend what is good {Isaiah 5:20} after all the righteousness of God's own people is from above {Isaiah 54:17} that's why the true God declared them "HOLY" {1Peter 2:9} that doesn't mean faithless miscreants won't find something to say against Jehovah, Jesus or the organization but they can never ever find a better replacement for JEHOVAH nor can they find a better counselor than Jesus nor can they find a better performing group than God's organization.
That's what being HOLY means! smiley

In case you don't know much about JW, this is the life of a JW below. You will only see something different if a JW doesn't necessarily follow the rules of Watchtower. But if you follow their rules like an obedient robot, this is how your life will look like.

Watchtower is also against Higher Education/University Education. The Cult operates by reducing JWs to people who lack a sense of ambition in order to make them dependent on the Cult. It is purposely designed that way. Times and times again to this day in their Convention talks, they speak against University education. Back in the day, they were against Marriage and Secondary school education even forcing JWs to choose Marriage or the Cult. Many JWs left at that time. When they saw they were losing so many members, they had to adjust but upgraded to speaking against University. The Cult is all about Rules Rules Rules. Like the Pharisees Jesus condemned. JWs will come and tell you that they go to the University and that no such thing exists. But that is a Lie because every JW knows that Watchtower rule is Bullshit! Every JW knows when Watchtower speaks against University in talks, conventions and Broadcasts. But they like to pretend no one is speaking to them when it comes to University education. They are not allowed to disagree with Watchtower in words instead they do it in action. This is why they disregard it and go to the University regardless. This is why some of them accept Blood Transfusion secretly. They know that they pick and choose which rule to follow because they are all Bullshit rules. They know that Elders are removed when their children attend the University. But for some strange reason, they assume in their delusional heads that such never happens just so that they can make sense of their delusional doctrines and continue in the Cult. A very messed up mentality they have in there. This is what will become of you when you join this Cult. There are many JWs living double lives in that Cult. And that is because that is the only way to survive in that Cult. If they leave, they loose their social circle and Families.

Someone contacted JW Headquarters and asked the same question and they kept pushing him from one person to another for several minutes. None of them answered the simple question. One told him that the info is in the website and the guy said he couldn't find it there and needs to get the info from them. One was asking what he wants to use the info for. He introduced himself and was asking for their names, they refused. He asked if they are JWs, they refused to answer. And they want people to not think they are a Cult? Very strange behaviour. What are they hiding? What are they afraid of? These people are Paranoid and it shows all is not well in their headquarters. The Investigations is really hitting them hard that they are afraid of a simple phone call. Is the so called President of Watchtower involved in the Child Sexual Abuse scandal that made them to act in such a strange manner? This was not the reaction he got when he contacted Seventh Day Adventist Headquarters. Only the Guilty are afraid of simple questions. If your mind and hands are clean, you cannot be this afraid.
