GloriousGbola: I don’t think OBJ had much option when it came to choosing his VP. Remember that back then OBJ was an ex-convict with not much of a power base while Atiku had the power of the almighty PDM behind him. PDM support was needed in order to assure OBJ’s victory over Ekwueme in the primaries and also in order prosecute a successful election in the North, and Atiku had to be compensated as well for not getting the presidency which he himself was eyeing. |

GloriousGbola: I will say regarding Economy, OBJ years were the best, regarding the politics, OBJ was the worst OBJ couldnt have won without Atiku whether in 1999 or 2003, The PDM block was the main backbone of the PDP and was controlled by the Yar Aduas The leaders of PDM, Atiku and Umaru were contented with being state governors until OBJ picked them to be VP and Presidents Atiku realized he actually wields more power than OBJ |

DontBullshitMe: Under gej we had diezani who was dashing oil blocks to Chris aire for custom jewelry We had the ballooning and inflation of the subsidy - something that had never happened before We had multiple pipeline protection contracts We had so many unpunished scandals and so many sacred cows and so many avenues where money was wasted. Basically we went through 7 fat years that were blown away with nothing to show for them |

GloriousGbola:I don't deny everything you wrote but there is one unchallengeable fact which is : GEJ's lowest recorded GDP growth is higher than Buhari's highest recorded GDP growth. I don't have the numbers presently, I also believe we are paying more petrol subsidy now than we paid under GEJ. On every metric of governance, GEJ is better than Buhari except maybe in infrastructural development. This is my own opinion anyway. 3 Likes |

Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by GloriousGbola: 7:48pm On Mar 13, 2023 |
DontBullshitMe: it is inevitable that gdp is lower under buhari than gej and it is not just about buharis fiscal incompetence the moment buhari resumed office, there was an oil price war initiated by the Saudis who wanted to kill shale oil they flooded the market with crude, knocking the price of oil down to below $50 a barrel. low price of crude, market flooded - that is when the govt first tried to kill the subsidy because the low price of oil meant low landing price of petrol . that was the beginning of the lean years. post 2019 elections we had covid 19 . last year we had the ukraine special operation buhari is only part of the problem. the other problem is we are going through lean years brought about by world events our poor planning means we have no control over |

nihilistjnr:Yeah, it was not exactly milk and honey to be fair but it is better than what we have now. I get your point of trying to say that though prices were not off the roof then but in comparison to wages, things were bad and I agree. Now, things have gotten worse. That 100k that wasn't sufficient then which you eventually rejected in 2008 is around what some graduate are being offered now in Lagos. Consider the inflation rate now which has gotten worse and the consistent dollar rise and you realise that the suffering has gotten worse. 2 Likes |

larride: Las las Emefiele will travel abroad on official assignment and drop his resignation from there . He has probably amassed enough wealth in the last 9 years to enable him buy citizenship of some countries like St Kitts by investment . I don’t see him getting jailed like most people are using emotions to predict . He go surely get exit strategy in all of this rogbodiyan; He’s too smart not to |

DontBullshitMe: Of course, I know. Supreme court is definitely not sacking a sitting president. We all know going to court is a waste of time. If PDP thought they had a decent chance in court, they will not be doing aluta continua on the streets of Abuja. That was a hypothetical scenario |

GloriousGbola: 2003 to 2008 was very stable for Naira. It was in 2009 banking tsunami that everything fell yakata Many niggas abroad actually took the jump to come back home from 2004 to 2008, many to great regrets I know a guy who lost a house in Edgeware, probably worth close to £1m now because he fell £50k behind on his mortgage while chasing his Nigerian dream 1 Like 1 Share |

Baba sabi say anything other than APC na wahala because of EFCC. I don't think he would have done handover in Nigeria, e for be via Zoom from an undisclosed location. |

larride: It's part of politics. Asiwaju is not going to use EFCC to go after Wike, Wike doesn't trust Obi will not come for him as President and we all know that Atiku will leave him in jail for 8 years if he had the power. Wike reviewed all the options and decided to overcook the beans for the pesin he trusts. 1 Like |

larride: Na why I talk say he go get plans . This guy rose to become the MD of a top bank in Nigeria ( Zenith bank ) . He’s not some obscure politician who just made money from politics ; he’s been playing politics right from his time in the private sector . E know when matter cast, e don cast be that . He will surely have a plan already which he’s not sharing with even his most loyal lieutenants. I don’t think he will take the risk of staying back in Nigeria hoping nobody will touch him . He’s reported to be currently moving with military escorts since the DSS planned arresting him. He knows with Buhari gone so many hawks lurking in the shadows will come for him 1 Like |

Na that one still dey protect ham else DSS for don arrest ham. All this point to another failure of Buhari in managing his own cabinet and appointees that even his security officials are doing as they like. Commander in chief of armed forces my arse. |
