justt: I don’t know about it being compulsory, but I tried to withhold my BMLS degree certificate on purpose, so I could reduce the verification duration, but I was asked by the interviewer if I had a degree. So there’s a possibility that she’ll be asked if she has any certificate from a tertiary institution. Let her collect it if she can. Else, she may be told to bring it when she has it. That can delay the process. |

justt: HND is equivalent to BSc. If she holds a degree, the A1 Language would be waived. And a degree certificate puts her high in the labour market and as well as the Visa process 1 Like |

Ahmed4002:Hmmm. First, HND is not equivalent to a German degree here in Germany. Secondly, my wife holds a master’s degree and still the A1 was not waived. However, she might be lucky but it’s very unlikely that the A1 language stuff will be waived. 1 Like |

chidi4eze: Cos you didn't know. If you hold a degree, the A1 is waived, most people don't know. Check the family reunion information on the Nigeria German embassy website. 1 Like 1 Share |

Important information! The former fee for verification of documents of 150.0000 Naira will be increased from 15.03.2023 due to inflation, rising aviation costs and security concerns in Nigeria. For verifications in locations within the following northern states, the fee will now be 250,000 Naira: FCT, Niger, Kwara, Kogi, Nassarawa, Benue, Taraba, Plateau, Adamawa, Gombe, Bauchi, Kaduna, Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, Katsina, Kano, Jigawa, Yobe, Borno. This means when a person or institution located in one of these states has to be verified, the fee applies to this case. For verifications in all other locations, the new fee will now be 180,000 Naira. The implementation of the new fees of N180,000 and N250,000 Naira respectively will take effect from 15.03.2023. All appointments on or after 15.03.2023 are subject to the new fees. We are also aware of the cash scarcity in Nigeria at this time. We are already working on a solution to offer non-cash payments but are not able to provide this option for now. If you are unable to acquire your verification fees in cash by the time of your appointment, you can still submit your application and will be given more time to submit the fee at a later date. This only applies to the verification fee – not the visa fee. Visa fees have to be paid in cash at your appointment. We only accept new Naira notes in 500 and 1.000 Naira bills. No other currencies. |

UCEKE: Due to the suspension of legalisation in Nigeria, local documents need to be verified. The document verification procedure usually takes at least six months From their website |

Thank you for your input @ Ahmed4002 & Chidi4eze. I guess the best option is for her to get her certificate. |

chidi4eze: Yes this is a good answer which I have actually taught about several times now. The thing is I have applied for several Visa with these passport, and I have been captured several times with this passport. I am worried that even if I correct this at the immigration office, it may not make any difference because my biometric has been captured by several embassies with my current details. Please correct me if I am wrong on this analysis. |

While I do not want to ask why you decided to deliberately use falsified information on a critical document as your passport, I believe and hope you would have learned your lesson the hard way now. Next: you need to visit the NIS and explain that this was an honest mistake. Before that, you should approach a high court and swear a valid affidavit to that effect. Everything can be corrected in a passport as long as you can provide adequate proof and legal documents to back it up. The only question is: did you ever provide a legal document to back up the initial falsified information? If you did, that’s forgery. I’ve no legal advice on that, you should approach a lawyer to advise you further. All the best. lextube: 1 Like |

Hello.. please I need information on this. Please for those who did family reunion visa(for student spouse without scholarship) , how much (Euro) do you have to show in the account for spouse coming to join in Germany? Is there a specific amount for this? Do you need to block the amount or just the bank statement/account balance to be presented at the embassy? For example, you are a student in Germany and you want to bring your spouse to Germany. What are the other requirements? Thank you for your response in advance |
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by jbonito(m): 5:00am On Mar 14, 2023 |
chidi4eze: Actually checked and they have completely changed the language requirements. No exceptions are raised even for partners of blue card holders and citizens. This is baffling when you consider the fact that the German federal government announced plans last year to remove the German language requirement for family reunion to enhance immigration and encourage applicants. This is a legislation in preparation! By the way, partners of English speaking western countries do not have this requirement for family reunion, I guess they don’t need to understand German to reunite with their families. jbonito: There should be an exception for partners of blue card holders. It is the main benefit of having a blue card. |
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by jbonito(m): 11:54am On Mar 14, 2023 |
pseudonomer: Unless they have decided to only issue exemptions on a discretionary basis, the information is no longer publicly available. This was on the website as at January, so this is a new update. I already know if 1/2 Blue card holders whose partners have been asked for the A1 requirement. |

Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by jamexonline(m): 12:47pm On Mar 14, 2023 |
Just to say a little from what I know. You could go to the foreign office in your city and ask them because some of the requirements sometimes vary from city to city, though they are most times similar. You need a family size apartment, work contract, pay slip for the last 3 months. If from their calculation, they feel what you earn monthly isn’t enough, they would tell you to block some amount of money to cover up from your salary. I hope this helps. adekunletosin: |
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by jbonito(m): 1:16pm On Mar 14, 2023 |
pseudonomer: Nobody has ever refused that I know lol. Your options would be to either write the ABH/embassy and make a case for why this should be waived for you, or your partner enrolls in an intensive course to get the A1 cert. |

Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Zluky: 4:49pm On Mar 15, 2023 |
jamexonline: Very accurate and to add to this, in some extreme cases, the immigration officer just makes the decision without asking for blocked account to cover the shortfall. One of such cases I'm aware of, the officer mentioned they are not obliged to give any information to the person in Germany. He just sent rejection to the Consulate in Lagos. The applicant got the rejection before the spouse in Germany got to know. The reason stated was income not sufficient. Discretionary judgement is commonplace in Germany. They apply rules like ther are no rules. |

Immigration officer won't tell you anything about visa application outside their jurisdiction in Germany.. they will refer you to your home country.. I have requested for info as regards this matter severally. So what is the expected amount to show or block in the account? Zluky: |
Re: General German Work And Family Re-union Visa Enquiries by Zluky: 6:54pm On Mar 15, 2023 |
It depends on the ABH handling your case. The best is to find out from them. Some look at how much you have left after paying rent. I read somewhere you should have about 1k left. On expatrio website, they mentioned 934 for each adult and half for each minor. I personally do not think it will be up to that. https://help.expatrio.com/hc/en-us/articles/360019403679-Information-for-Family-Reunion-Visa-Residence-Permit-Applicants-Blocked-Account- That said, the only valid position is that of the ABH. Even expatrio adivse you ask the abh and I think they need info like how much and in whose name from the authorities before they open the account. It is very different from the one for students sha. |

adekunletosin: Most Students I know that did Family reunion had to block normal student rate for adults and half the price for kids. It all depends on who you meet , one other friend of mine didn't block but had to show the amount they requested for in his account. |
