A 2 term governor who qualifies as a political juggernaut in his own right would now take political advise from Utomi that has never won a councillorship election.
Tinubu was on the way to choose a Christian running mate but changed the plan after Obi entered the race, a situation he never envisaged, planning for a routine 2-horse race ( APC vs PDP). The people thought that with Obi towering popularity he would have all of the SE /SS and decided to weaken the only other challenger Atiku in his NE base since Obi being a Christian won't enjoy much acceptability in the NW/ NE, and the lot fell on Shettima. Remember how long it took them to name a vice, after naming a placeholder? It was not an easy battle with northern christians in the fold.
If they hadn't rigged Rivers, Venue, a few states in SW and NC you won't be here saying all these old wife's fables.

If they had given Obi the ticket with a strong Northern politician like Tambuwal as vice. They would have won hands down but they greedily gave the ticket to corrupt Atiku and picked a sitting governor as vice to fund their campaign. Very poorly thought out move, now they have lost a large chunk of the south, it's only a matter of time before they lose the north too

I won't be surprised if Kwakwaso was not being funded to draw away PDP votes.

All in all, if Obi and Kwankwaso had followed the great example of late Chief Alex Ekwueme and remained loyal to their mother party, APC would have been the ones weeping and gnashing their teeth.

But as it is, the oppositon got too divided, turning an APC loss into total victory.

Tinubu was too shrewd for us this time. We'll try harder in four years time.

Maybe, but at the same time, Obi basically repeated Buhari's mistake in 2011...he left an established party, joined an existing party (that is where he is different from Buhari)...and won significant votes, but not enough to do anything at all.

Obi should also be reaching out and forming alliances.
