So, you cross an entire Yoruba region to become indigenous inside the same Yoruba region? Are you okay in the head?

Read you won't read

All you yoruba do is to leave your state and come to Lagos to claim false indigenes we edos would soon drive you lots to ogbmosho from were your fathers came from

Read yoruba man

Yes British left Europe to rule Nigeria

So was difficult with benins ruling Lagos when it's even a close neigbour compare to England and Nigeria in distance

First it was Bini, now it's British; later it's going to be Biafra. This Rufai and his station need psychiatric examination. He's been looking for anything 'B' to own Lagos and anything to trend on twitter.

He doesn't even know the difference between Lagos State and Lagos colony, which is less than 10% of present Lagos state. In his efforts to keep downgrading Lagos indigenous people, he has been promoting fringe individuals that came to Lagos island: Prince Ado, the slave masters (Britons), and the returnees like Saros. He forgot Prince Ado met Already established kingdom of Awori-Yorubas. The colonizers also met Yoruba kings kosoko and Dosunmu and their people in Lagos Island.

You know say Eko gba ole o gba ole, imagine a lazy journalist like Rufai telling me that Lagos is still a colony of the British.

The name ijebu was gotten from how the benins captured the ijebu Poople for human sacrifice and when they dumped them in the Benin rivers they make a sound as liking to

This Rufai is showing his incompetence everyday. Was there no one occupying that area before the British? A simple question he would have asked himself before posting this. If that's his argument then it's safe to say Nigeria in it's entirety is for the British, because we are once a colony to them.

Lekki derived from Lecqi (a Portuguese settler).

What you said is so inconsequential like the INEC result stop living in self denial and pick a book

Here are some translation from the Portuguese which is quite different from your own shady imagination

Ekki which means market in benin
Lekki was the area which trade took place between the Europeans and the locals( benins, ijebu, aworis and Co) in Lagos pre colonization before trade later moved to badargry

Eti osa = which means the power of God in benin

Oshodin = is a name in benin, one of the military commander who invaded Lagos for the Oba of benin

Eko= camp, Lagos full title is called ekonuame
The camp of waters
Ekoosodin = military camp of general osodin

You’re absolutely right.

What’s fascinating is that: ‘Rufai Oseni’ looks like a Yoruba name. And it shows most Yoruba people don’t know their own history and lack basic understanding about colonialism - for him to brazenly make such a lousy statement and share it publicly. Or perhaps, he’s just feigning ignorance - due to political affiliation. However, even with that, it’s an issue of ancestral land and since Yorubas have nowhere else apart from where they occupy in Nigeria - there has to be discretion and it should be Yoruba first.

That said, Lagos Island was forcefully signed away by King Dosunmu on a British warship, to British empire - with threats of heavy bombardment if he didn’t sign it. However, it was reclaimed back in 1921, in a court in London, when an Awori Idejo Chief, Chief Amodu Tijani, sued the British empire for forcefully taking the Land. He was represented by Herbert Macaulay and won - with £22,500 as compensation and the land was returned.

Attached are the pictures of the British war ship where King Dosunmu signed away the land under duress and pictures of Chief Amodu Tijani.

Look at this one.

Are you aware that the Benin Empire exchanged ambassadors with Portugal as early as the 1500s?

Are you aware that Benin city was one of the greatest and most beautiful cities IN THE WORLD in medieval times?

A city of which the UK Guardian wrote that:

''With its mathematical layout and earthworks longer than the Great Wall of China, Benin City was one of the best planned cities in the world when London was a place of ‘thievery and murder’.''

''Benin City, originally known as Edo, was once the capital of a pre-colonial African empire located in what is now southern Nigeria. The Benin empire was one of the oldest and most highly developed states in west Africa, dating back to the 11th century.

The Guinness Book of Records (1974 edition) described the walls of Benin City and its surrounding kingdom as the world’s largest earthworks carried out prior to the mechanical era. According to estimates by the New Scientist’s Fred Pearce, Benin City’s walls were at one point “four times longer than the Great Wall of China, and consumed a hundred times more material than the Great Pyramid of Cheops [in Egypt]”.

Situated on a plain, Benin City was enclosed by massive walls in the south and deep ditches in the north. Beyond the city walls, numerous further walls were erected that separated the surroundings of the capital into around 500 distinct villages.

Pearce writes that these walls “extended for some 16,000 km in all, in a mosaic of more than 500 interconnected settlement boundaries. They covered 6,500 sq km and were all dug by the Edo people … They took an estimated 150 million hours to construct, and are perhaps the largest single archaeological phenomenon on the planet”.

Lagos Was Owned By The British For 99 Years - Rufai Oseni Shares Treaty Cession Document (Photo)

Arise TV News presenter and author, Rufai Oseni has added his voice to the recent tribal arguments amongst Lagosians over the 'ownership' of Lagos State, IGBERETV reports.

The argument got intense following the campaign of Labour Party's Lagos gubernatorial aspirant, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour whose mother is Igbo. Also, Labour Party's presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi who is from Anambra state won Lagos State in the just concluded presidential poll against former Lagos Governor Bola Tinubu.

In a tweet on Wednesday, March 15, Oseni said Lagos was a British colony until it was ceded to a Lagos Monarch

He went on to state that some of the developments in the state were made by the British. He also shared a photo showing the treaty cessation document between the then British government and Oba Dosunmu.

Oseni refused to acknowledge the positions that "Lagos is no man's land," or that "it is a Yoruba land".

He wrote;

So Dosunmu is an Ebira man abi na Igbo man. As if the whole of Nigeria was not a colony of the British before independence. One would think people like him should know better, turning history upside down for what?

Nigeria was never a single entity before the British, the British also did not meet a vacant uninhabited Lagos. Why didn't they enter the Lagos treaty with the Obi of Onitsha or with the Etsu of Nupe?

Outside idumota area of Lagos given to the bini people by Aromire sub-clan of Awori, there's no place one can find bini traces in Lagos.

By the way, majority of these so called "binis" like Kosoko, Obanikoro, Eletu will stone you if you call them anything but Yorubas today.

Even Bini history is interwoven with that of the Yoruba but let's not even go there...

If we say Bini, Itshekiri are Yorubas they will never agree, it's just the same way Ikwerres are claiming they are not Igbos.

Everyone wants to maintain their identity and not be tagged with another and that's cool.
