CBR100: Benin claim ondo ekiti, ogun, ore Get your fact right if you need the old historical document of the white men documenting how the ogun people feared and obeyed the Oba benin command let me know Benin decided not to rule over ogun people because there was no economic significant the benins saw in their land Let me know if you need the document how the benins oppressed the ijebu people The name ijebu was gotten from how the benins captured the ijebu Poople for human sacrifice and when they dumped them in the Benin rivers they make a sound as liking to Tumbu which the European corrupted from the benins as ijebu A yoruba man named Samuel wrote about it in 1897 not a benin man If you need the document just let me know |

This Rufai is showing his incompetence everyday. Was there no one occupying that area before the British? A simple question he would have asked himself before posting this. If that's his argument then it's safe to say Nigeria in it's entirety is for the British, because we are once a colony to them. Iamgrey5: 1 Like |

CBR100: A man from Abia living in Owerri cannot tell visitors living in Owerri to go without the approval of ndi Owerri, this is just plain reality. No matter how you want to paint it, there are real indigenous people in Lagos as a place, they don't have any issues with any Tribe, Apc should stop using People from other states including other regions to cause trouble with their goons. |

Iamgrey5: You’re absolutely right. What’s fascinating is that: ‘Rufai Oseni’ looks like a Yoruba name. And it shows most Yoruba people don’t know their own history and lack basic understanding about colonialism - for him to brazenly make such a lousy statement and share it publicly. Or perhaps, he’s just feigning ignorance - due to political affiliation. However, even with that, it’s an issue of ancestral land and since Yorubas have nowhere else apart from where they occupy in Nigeria - there has to be discretion and it should be Yoruba first. That said, Lagos Island was forcefully signed away by King Dosunmu on a British warship, to British empire - with threats of heavy bombardment if he didn’t sign it. However, it was reclaimed back in 1921, in a court in London, when an Awori Idejo Chief, Chief Amodu Tijani, sued the British empire for forcefully taking the Land. He was represented by Herbert Macaulay and won - with £22,500 as compensation and the land was returned. Attached are the pictures of the British war ship where King Dosunmu signed away the land under duress and pictures of Chief Amodu Tijani. 3 Likes 1 Share

Lightorder: You are a Son of NOBODY. That's what I want you to know because you lack the ability to relate and respect people on public forum. If you had come from a good, rich and discipline home, most of your post wouldn't be found obnoxious and rude. You are just a nobody like your old man. You need to think and find a way to take your children to where your father can't take to you in life. And learn how to respect people. |

CBR100: Look at this one. Are you aware that the Benin Empire exchanged ambassadors with Portugal as early as the 1500s? Are you aware that Benin city was one of the greatest and most beautiful cities IN THE WORLD in medieval times? A city of which the UK Guardian wrote that: ''With its mathematical layout and earthworks longer than the Great Wall of China, Benin City was one of the best planned cities in the world when London was a place of ‘thievery and murder’.'' ''Benin City, originally known as Edo, was once the capital of a pre-colonial African empire located in what is now southern Nigeria. The Benin empire was one of the oldest and most highly developed states in west Africa, dating back to the 11th century. The Guinness Book of Records (1974 edition) described the walls of Benin City and its surrounding kingdom as the world’s largest earthworks carried out prior to the mechanical era. According to estimates by the New Scientist’s Fred Pearce, Benin City’s walls were at one point “four times longer than the Great Wall of China, and consumed a hundred times more material than the Great Pyramid of Cheops [in Egypt]”. Situated on a plain, Benin City was enclosed by massive walls in the south and deep ditches in the north. Beyond the city walls, numerous further walls were erected that separated the surroundings of the capital into around 500 distinct villages. Pearce writes that these walls “extended for some 16,000 km in all, in a mosaic of more than 500 interconnected settlement boundaries. They covered 6,500 sq km and were all dug by the Edo people … They took an estimated 150 million hours to construct, and are perhaps the largest single archaeological phenomenon on the planet”. https://www.theguardian.com/cities/2016/mar/18/story-of-cities-5-benin-city-edo-nigeria-mighty-medieval-capital-lost-without-trace PLEASE, DON'T JOKE WITH THE BENIN EMPIRE. EBMedia: This Rufai guy is dumber than I thought. So Dosunmu is an Ebira man abi na Igbo man. As if the whole of Nigeria was not a colony of the British before independence. One would think people like him should know better, turning history upside down for what? Nigeria was never a single entity before the British, the British also did not meet a vacant uninhabited Lagos. Why didn't they enter the Lagos treaty with the Obi of Onitsha or with the Etsu of Nupe? |

Iamgrey5: Even Bini history is interwoven with that of the Yoruba but let's not even go there... If we say Bini, Itshekiri are Yorubas they will never agree, it's just the same way Ikwerres are claiming they are not Igbos. Everyone wants to maintain their identity and not be tagged with another and that's cool. 1 Like |
