Thebadpolitican: there was no tym benin rules ile ife, infact no tym did it ruled Oyo, Oyo had always been the stronger side and even your story about ijebu am unable to trace it to any source on internet Early history The Ijebu Kingdom is estimated to be one of the earliest kingdoms founded in the African rain forest. [5] Ijebu-Ode was originally a city founded by a leader from Ife. Like most other early states in the Yoruba region, they began to build a series of walls and ditches around the city, construction of these walls began in 800–1000 AD when the walls were called Sungbo’s Eredo. The walls extended to eventually cover the entirety of the Ijebu kingdom. It was massive with an estimated 3.5 million cubic meters of moved earth and sand and is among the largest man-made monuments in Africa. [5] The evidence found is not linked to an isolated townbut to a kingdom’s large dike, a kingdom which was once functional and had at its disposal a high level of agricultural practice, an established pottery-making tradition, and possibly an army that triggered the construction of the Eredo. Bimboscoo: Honestly, e weak me.. Look at Rufai bawling out that the British ''owned'' territory in his fatherland, and therefore nobody should lay claim to the territory, even 60 years after the British have left. IT'S SLAVE MENTALITY GONE AMOCK!!! Utterly disgusting. 2 Likes |

Dentidon:Rufai is just too dumb… that slowpoke also called himself a journalist. The mumu man didn’t tell us how Awolowo used money of the South West to develop the industrial estate in Ilupeju, Ikeja and many infrastructure across the state that attracted many multinationals firms like Dunlop etc, . How Jakande initiated many estates development all over the mainland. All the properties of the South west ceded to the federal government like the NTA and the Abuja House in the UK. The South West government had a budget bigger than the federal government back then. 1 Like |

THE POINT HERE IS VERY SIMPLE. LAGOS WAS DEVELOPED WITH NIGERIA MONEY. PEOPLE FROM ALL OVER NIGERIA HAVE BUILT PROPERTIES ACROSS THE STATE AFTER BUYING LAND. DOES A MAN FINISH SELLING HIS LAND AND COLLECTING PAYMENT, COME BACK TO LAY CLAIM TO PROPERTIES BUILT UPON THE LAND BY THE BUYERS? YORUBA SHOULD POINT OUT THE PART OF LAGOS THEY OWN/BUILT AND TAKE THAT PART. YORUBA SHOULD STOP HOPING ON COLLECTING PROPERTIES, NIGERIANS BUILT IN THEIR CITY, LAGOS.

Sometimes, some people create more problems thinking they are helping to foster peace. Mr. Rufai, 1. Lagos was not an empty space when the colonialists arrived. 2. That there was a treatise on the ownership doesn't mean that it didn't belong to some people before the arrival of the colonialists. 3. The true owners of the land were at the mercy of the colonialists so whatever they signed or agreed upon was not from the standpoint of equity where the Yoruba people were considered as the rightful owners. For God's sake, the so-called history said Mongo Park discovered River Niger, WHAT AN INSULT! 4. That they developed Lagos still didn't mean that it belonged to them. 5. Lagos is Yoruba land and the Yoruba people should be given the credit for being highly hospitable. Most tribes will not allow outsiders (other tribes) own landed property in their own states as it is in Lagos as we speak now. (Please go and do your research). Lagos allows people prosper and thrive as they so desire. 6. Let's encourage other tribes to be as welcoming as the Yoruba people where outsiders enjoy the same rights as they do in Lagos. 7. Till tomorrow and forever, Lagos will always welcome anybody that wishes to be a part of it without discrimination LET'S GIVE PEACE A CHANCE AND IGNORE POLITICIANS WITH THEIR RUBBISH. By the time the elections come and go, the people will remain. A word is enough for the wise. |

ddeola: ImperialYoruba: ImperialYoruba: WHETHER IT IS AN EMPTY SPACE OR NOT, NIGERIA COLLECTIVE MONEY HAVE GONE INTO ITS DEVELOPMENT. IF YORUBA CAN DO IT ALONE, WHY IS IBADAN THE BROWN ROOF CAPITAL OF NIGERIA? YOU LEFT IBADAN TO COME AND CLAIM LAGOS, WHERE ALMOST EVERY INCH OF LAND HAVE BEEN SOLD. (COSMOPOLITAN CITY) TOMORROW, AFTER DANGOTE FINISH BUILDING HIS REFINERY AND CEMENT PLANT, YOU WILL GO AND TELL HIM, TO GO BACK TO KANO, BACUSE YOU OWN LAGOS STATE. QUESTION IS, DID DANGOTE BUY THE LAND LEGALLY TO DEVELOP? THIS IS THE SAME STORY ACROSS LAGOS STATE. THAT IS THE POINT.

All what my History teacher and all the books I read told me is that Binis was formerly under the old OYO Empire.that oba of Benin called ovomranwe was rude to then Alaafin because he wanted autonomy from Oyo empire and Alaafin cursed him and he misbehaved by killing the Portuguese on treaty mission .he was banished and exile and that led to the famous bini massacre .untill Benin chiefs when to beg Alaafin after they have accepted to remain under Oyo Empire .and Alaafin reversed the curse on Bini and he appealled to the Portuguese to stop killing the Binis. That was how peace rained in bini |

chamboi1: WHICH PART IN LAGOS DO YORUBA ACTUALLY OWN? AS FAR AS WE KNOW, TINUBU IS FROM OSUN STATE, AMBODE ONDO STATE, SANWO IS FROM ONDO STATE. AWORI AND BINI ARE FROM SS REGION OR IDUU. WHICH LAND OR PROPERTY IN LAGOS DO YORUBA OWN? IF YORUBA OWN ANY LAND AND PROPERTY IN LAGOS, NOBODY IS DRAGIING IT WITH THEM BUT AS FOR THE CITY OF LAGOS, YORUBA DO NOT OWN IT. IT IS A NO MAN'S LAND. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8iB4aWmESM0 |

IN TODAY'S WORLD, FOR YOU TO CLAIM TO OWN SOMETHING, YOU HAVE TO HAVE SOME KIND OF MONETARY INVESTMENT OR STAKE IN IT. WHAT BUSINESSES OR INVESTMENTS DO YORUBA OWN IN LAGOS? WHAT PROPERTIES AND LAND DO THEY OWN, MINUS THE LAND PURCHASED OR BELONGING TO BUYERS. ALL WE SEE IS A BUNCH OF AGBERO AND THIEVIES RUNNING AROUND SHOUTING WE OWN LAGOS. IS IT PEOPLE PROPERTIES THEY WANT TO OWN OR PEOPLE BUSINESSES? I JUST DONT UNDERSTAND ALL THIS BLACK PEOPLE MADNESS TO BE HONEST. |

Iamgrey5: There's no point for all these, if the Yorubas, didn't raise it. Every piece of Land has an owner, Lagos State is not exempted. When you, as a stranger, buys land, there are people that you pay to and the give you receipt. Saying Lagos State, us a Yoruba land, is an over statement. Let put it in the right perspective. Every land in South West, is not for all Yorubas. Lagos State, belongs to the AWORIS. It must be made clear. Saying it's a Yoruba land, when no Aworiman or woman can go to any state in the SW and contest for any elective post as they do in Lagos State, defeats the argument that it's a Yoruba. Every state in the SW, have their land and boundaries, any trespass, by anybody from any neighbouring state, will be challenged. Let us tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth. The Aworis are been marginalized in their state, no one is addressing that. Period. |
