INEC has declared 2 house of assembly seats for LP so far!
Say what you will but an 8 month old movement that is permeating the whole Nigerian political space is a huge stride and achievement.

Festac and satellite town about to experience quality representation in Lagos assembly.

festac and satelitte town are dominated by igbos - so it is really no suprise at all
i have said repeatedly that i am the only non igbo in my own close
i have also said there is a provincial hatred of apc and tinubu in general that is expressed freely
rather than celebrate this 'win' go through the electoral history of the region
as to quality representation - that remains to be seen

We may not have MC Oluomo's wealth here, but i expect everybody here to be more learned than him.

You want to tell me you put Igbos in their place, meanwhile you are nothing in this city; Absolutely nothing

Yorubas were flogged out of PUs yesterday. That should tell anybody that this is not even a Yoruba thing, but few wicked idiots, trying to usurp power by force using the tribal card.

You put me for my place, but nothing nothing reach you.

I’ve been seeing that comment everywhere… put them in their place grin

I’m glad Sanwo Olu won and he continues with the good work he’s been doing or perceived to be doing.

Lagosians have the right to elect who they want.

People should also remember…. Naija na individual race if you no know person. After all the tribal fight, government will still fvck you up no matter the side you support. 👴🏾🕶️🤏🏾

APC brought politics of hatred… pitting man against man.

These guys armed protesters with sticks to chase out peaceful protesters…. I never see that kind thing before.

The atmosphere in Nigeria now is like US under Trump… and a lot of you are buying what they are selling.

Good thing is we all fvcked equally

That messaging is too dangerous coming from someone in Tinubu's circle. APC Lagos are not even hiding their desperation anymore.

The funny thing is : there is a new growing demography of young Yoruba voters who are liberal, friends with people of other ethnic groups, and inclined to vote against APC. If APC does not woo these people to their side through progressive policy and development, these people will vote against them 10 times out of 10. So, APC's base is getting depleted year after year.

This method of pitting Yoruba vs Igbo (or other ethnic group) is getting outdated gradually and won't be sustainable in the long run. Too Clear.

The emboldened will happen when the Igbos cease to lay stupid claims - Lagos, being a no man's land; Igbos developed Lagos and other disparaging remarks on the Yorubas and their culture.

Amuwo most times elect the opposition

The only problem is that they will eventually decamp.

I hope these ones hold the forte.

It is difficult to win as an opposition in Lagos. It is also difficult to stay as an opposition when you win too
Yeah, Hon. Dipo and Akeem Bello won it in 2015 under PDP, but both later decamp to APC. I really thought Hon. Wale Rauf would return to the House of Assembly. I guess voters in Ijegun, Satellite, Kirikiri Town and Alakija to Mazamaza did him strong thing. LP truly made a big statement on this 2023 general election...

I doubt if these guys will remain in LP.

The one that won the NASS ticket was formerly an APC member.

Tinubu has a way of appeasing even the opposition to join him, or at least, be at peace with him.

By 2027, we go know how many remain

DissTroy:

The position of Chief Justice is too sensitive. Always would be. All Chief Justices and Governors should actually have solid roots in the state.

Ikpeme is a full Akwa Ibomite. She wasn't even born in Cross River or her family migrated there.

When Akpabio as Akwa Ibom Governor collected all 72 oil wells from Cross River in 2009 leaving them without any oil, Cross River politics being dominated by my people ( the Ibibios) partly and the Efiks was why they couldn't put up a good fight to at least get some. At least put up a strong fight.
Even some of us from Akwa Ibom felt Akpabio shouldn't have insisted on taking all from our brothers but it is what it is.

You need a Chief Justice with solid roots in the state to fight for that.
Would a Russian born and raised in Russia be made Chief Justice in America? Unlikely. Too sensitive. But with Russian roots and born ans raised in America? Likely.

But many commissioners from Donald Duke's time to Imoke and the current one were and are from Akwa Ibom. Many Permanent Secretaries in Cross River are from Akwa Ibom too. That nullifies your claims.

In Akwa Ibom, many village heads in boundary LGAs like Itu are from Cross River/ have Cross River roots. In the Oro-speaking axis of Akwa Ibom like Oron, Mbo, Okobo, Udung Uko and the likes, Cross Riverians are vying for office and being elected.

The Ibibios and Efiks dominate Akwa Ibom and Cross River sociopolitics but the current Governor of Cross River is from Northern Cross River, those considered minorities of minorities to and by us.

You want a list of Cross Riverians in SUGs in Akwa Ibom and vice versa, or in state governments? Several.

Add what I have explained now with you acknowledging Akwa Ibom or Cross River don't mind Igbos, Yorubas or others taking key positions in our governments and schools, and it completely erodes your claims of tribalism

Plus the dynamics of Cross River is crazy. I'm glad I'm not from there in a way. Ikom LGA alone in Cross River has 17 languages and tribes. Good luck handling that.
Those tribalists in Lagos wouldn't cause as much of an uproar if Gbadebo 'Shinedu' was a Gbadebo 'Gambari' I.e with a hausa mother, does that make them less tribalistic? As for the SUG matter, call your friends in UNICAL and ask them what CRIM means

But how did the Igbos interfere in Lagos politics?

Lagos is not the only state that LP won during the presidential election.
They won nasarawa, plateu & Abuja. These people are not crying that Igbos want to takeover their state/land.

The top three gubernatorial candidates in Lagos are both Yorubas.

Lmao.

You're saying this like it is an emerging situation. Something yet to happen.

Many people did vote against APC, but for as long as they continue to wield violence and play these prebendal kind of politics, the same thing we've witnessed now will continue to happen over and over again.

If a select few like Buhari and Tinubu from the pre-1999 eras still hold sway and are getting recycled until now, the likes of Dayo Israel, El-Rufai, Wike and the political "god sons" they are all breeding today will take over from them, even after they die. Liberal Yoruba youths (and people) are not exactly a new thing, too, but for as long the oligarchic state of affairs in the country remain, the mass will keep being disenfranchised and apathetic to whatever the leaders are doing.

In 2014, El Rufus said Igbos acquired 73% of landed properties in Abuja… You ever seen these issues raised in Abuja.

Politicians really know how to control the masses or the ones that choose to be controlled.

We know bringing up the no man’s land issue was a rallying cry to Yorubas to come vote… Sanwo Olu said it himself, people didn’t come out to vote.
