Fuel subsidy will be removed before May 29? Any thoughts on how the market might react please?

Apparently, there are plans to move NNPC listing on the NSE to next year. Obviously sharp increase in prices of goods and services except there's a mass transit plan to assuage the pains. Trains are not well connected to assist in commodity transportation. A government that has chosen to put the cart before the horse. Any how government. Stocks operating in the downstream sector and transport companies without much thinking.

Vat to 10%. That's wickedness if they're not going to increase minimum wage and divulge economic power to states.

I bought UBA early this week @N8.20 even after the SVB news broke.
Will buy more soon.
I am a long term investor and don't allow the daily noise to disturb me.
Also checking stock prices everyday is really not necessary if u are in for the long term.
Stocks will fall and rise and rise and fall.
Planning to use most of my dividend this year to increase my UBA holding.

Personally, this is what i like to read on here. People putting money where their mouth is. Not just making noise but actually back it up with their money! Kudos bros

all the 3 major candidates agreed to remove fuel subsidy, PH refinery will be working soon and if dangote refinery comes on board i believe there will be less pressure on fx demand and gradually things will take shape. There will likely be increase in social spending in all ramifications and i expect the health sector, construction sector, the transportation sector, the agricultural sector, the fintech and power sector to benefits greatly from this. We would have around 4trilion naira that would be on social spending. Though at first it may be hard but as time goes on thing will get shape. Am of the opinion that the subsidy should be removed but all our refinery should be working to complement that of Dangote

I don't hold any grudge as to the removal of subsidy. It's just this anyhow approach to governance when it comes to Nigeria.

My take is:

1. Do not borrow money to invest
2. Search for company with Good fundamentals over the years
3. Research the company for future developments
4. Time your entry ( buy when the stock starts to advance)
5. Time your exit.

From my experience if you buy good company at almost the turn of the year you always make a decent gain before the results and if the result is good you are in for good money.

For now I buy Dangote Sugar. ( cheap, market leader, good dividends over the years, great future plans)
Please let know what others are buying and simple reasons?

Incase you are not aware, there are more than 5 NSEMPA WhatsApp groups where the members discuss and strategize on stocks before announcing it here.
So no one is going to tell you the stocks they are buying until they have gotten their fill and are ready to dump on you.
You can liase with Mcy or Pa Emma to add you to theirs.

Always go with your own instinct and read the opinion of others once in a while.

You went to school not to listen to your own instinct, but to read the opinion of others written in textbooks and handouts.

In every field of life, some people know more than other persons. Life is a risk. You gain some and lose some. But never stop learning from the opinion of others simply because you are cautious of being exploited. No one knows it all. No one has all the information in the world. Not Al Jazeera, not CNN, not BBC, not Channels TV, and certainly not you.

Peace.

Chief, why are you disappointed?

It is a common knowledge here that there are watsapp groups that discuss stocks. Some are paid-for groups, while majority are free and open groups but with rules which Nairaland doesn't have.

Why do people migrate?

It is because investors are too emotional when they take positions in the market. They don't want negative facts being shown which they believe could affect the performance of their stocks. And when such facts are presented, the messenger gets attacked and insults hurled at the person. So they tend to migrate to where there are rules and where there are majorly 'adults' who listen to you and present their own views to counter your points. There are lots of business managers, professionals, academics who comment daily here and state what they think based on facts they have that could impact markets positively or negatively. But immaturity of some members cause them to migrate to where there are rules.

In such groups, they do make analysis more detailed than what you see here. They do make forecast more detailed than what you see here. Such analysis can cause convinced group members to take a position or leave a position. But if they do so to influence prices, then such can only be done for some ultra low caps stocks and almost moribund companies. And even when such people start pumping those names on Nairaland, you will easily know that these are pumpers and want to dump soon. Members are not dumb here. We know those who pump and dump ultra low stocks.

And that is why you see NSEMPA gets dry of members who post independent analysis.

For your info, I do not belong to any Whatsapp group...
* Whatever you see me post here are efforts of my own hardwork in my own little way......going out of my way to do readings, observe, study trends, etc.

I was once invited to a WhatsApp group and the day I posted/made appearance there was the day I exited the group due to some biases expressed against my person.
Also, they're more of value/long term investors and me I be trader, I don't really look belonging there. So I quit. smiley
