Yes, because with the amount of work I have done with it and wowed people, I see it replacing a lit of things soon.

Let's not even talk of GPT 4 and Gen2.

Not really. Be careful how you use it though. There are apps to detect work done by AI. Especially for writers, most clients still prefer humans do the write ups themselves! However, you can use it for prompts to guide you, but do not fully depend on it.

I can tell you of the excitement I got when I found out about ChatGPT in November, but this excitement was short-lived because of a serious discovery that could not make me ever use this technology on client work which I am privileged to work on.

The honest truth is that we are all lazy, including the expert too, and having a tool that seems to fix that looks like a relief, but as a senior colleague told me, work will continue to work even with or without the tool. My first discovery was from a work that I thought I have finished fast and after passing it to our standard and compliance department. It has to be returned because it was obviously a lazy job.

You heard that right, not just human that is lazy but AI too, many of the words were just repeated over again. Which was terrible. Doing proper academic research will never have resulted in that.

Second is that the tool was never designed to be used for academic or professional research as it has no reference nor the source original. So this thereby doubles the work of then looking for the material it source, yet the plagiarism is high.

The third which I will rap up to another day is that it is not designed to be perfect many research works are often specific and this tool is just not going to understand that. I could remember asking it obvious details about the CEO of OpenAI the company that designed it and missing it. So relying on such for your academic research can be a disaster, and finally, remember the model it is working with is not updated so you want to desist from using such tools and rather do it yourself or consult a professional.

In conclusion, I am not de-selling the efficacy of the tools. I think it is really powerful and can have a lot of impacts but just trying to enlight you that this generative pre-trained transformer (GPT) with the limited response should not replace during proper research if you want to contribute to the tree of knowledge in your discipline

It is work in progress bro. Google search engines for example didn't reach this degree of reliability overnight.
I believe in a few years Chatgpt may have adapted well for accurate use in areas more complex than research works.

Several tertiary and research institutions in the US, UK and even China have prohibited the use of Chatgpt in writing papers. The submission is rejected once it fails the AI-assisted detection test.

It will make humans lazy. It has excellent uses in other areas though.

Well, depends on what type of academic research you're referring to. If you're referring to areas like social sciences where a lot of what is done is largely theoretical, then I think it's only a matter of time before AI catches up. And in physical sciences, I mean except for clinical trials and the like, I think the days of outsourcing thinking to machines is already here.

This is about AI in general though, because ChatGPT went from scoring 10% in the US bar exam to scoring 90% within four months. So, give it two years, and it'll be able to operate an aneurysm.

It can actually avoid plagiarism. Just give it the right prompt.
For example, you can instruct it to "generate xyz using original words and zero plagiarism. Infuse xyz with blablabla terms so it looks written by human."

GPTZERO right? It checks perplexity and burstiness. You can instruct chatgpt to construct it's texts to yield a low perplexity and high burstiness score. That way the thought flow will be irregular just as humans. GPTZERO will flag it as human written.

ChatGPT is no different from Google Search, Only that it has been trained to respond conversationally.

It also takes away guesswork that is done when a person inserts a Search query into a Google search bar.

Of course, it cannot be used for research purposes and that is because, CGPT does not dig up information from thin air, it can only serve data based on already existing data.

Its Generative feature, which makes it look as though it is interacting how humans interact with each other is because it learns new 'Chat' or interactive patterns.

So If you use this AI tool for research purposes, what do expect it to print out?

Wrong or Outdated data...

I don't think so. Sometimes you just don't get what you want and even the answers it provides still need to be double checked. Morealso, it takes some level of knowledge to be able to use ChatGPT properly.

Quite a high level of skills, and knowledge of what you are looking for. Most times, I think people want to use it to solve their problems, from ground zero to peak level. You can't achieve that.

Interesting perspective.

But kindly note that the performance of this AI System depends on:

1. The version you deploy.

2. The specific prompts you have added to what you have requested for.

For instance ChatGPT 4 (paid version) is way better than the free version. Using the free version at times, it will get stuck while composing a response. Yes. It will just get stuck mid composition. And it is typically a bit repetitive when providing answers. At times it picks irrelevant perspectives and tries to force them to apply to what you searched. Even when those perspectives have nothing to do with one another. It tries hard to make them make sense and as an intelligent human, I can spot these perspectives as unrelated if I should find it in any academic work.

Secondly, I can inform the system to change details of the response to a particular request by simply adding one or two prompt words. Take for instance:

a. “Write a top-notch PHD Proposal on the topic….”

Or

b. “Write a top-notch Harvard Style PhD Proposal and include academic references on the topic……”

Prompts like the above will yield various quality of details and eventual results.

I realized recently that the academia is visibly angry and apprehensive about the possibilities of AI in the academic world or in the world of learning, research, contributing to knowledge and improvement of life. The academia is very rigid in their thinking and they are ALL VERY wrong because they have cunningly only focused on criticizing the limitations of this AI tool. The academia must “have sense” that AI is also ML. It will continuously improve until it gets as good as humans. What about its merits? Why arent they focused on it? Why are they concerned only with the fact that students will become lazy? Why not create rules of use and create methods for ensuring that such AI tools add the necessary value into making research fun and unnecessary stress free? And Why call it a bad name just to hang it?!

AI has come to stay, and stay it would. It will only get better. If humans during normal research exercises can also legally copy and quote ideas and information from journals and books etc and call it “properly referencing your sources”, then AI can also be trained and improved to do so just as humans do. In fact quicker and more effectively.

ChatGP/OpenAI gives me broad information on a subject. It is to me a better version of a Google Search as it doesn’t just throw search results at me to just rummage through, but it organizes them for me to make better sense of the information out there on a particular query.

Why should this tool be termed as laziness? Laziness is when you get the response from the AI tool and you refuse to proof read and apply your brain in properly editing. That is Laziness. It is like copying your friends answer in an exam word for word. Or copying figure and page number of a textbook in an open book exam. Users of OpenAI must also use their own brains!

So to me, it isn’t laziness. And like every technology there are rules and norms to its usage. But it isn’t laziness at all. After-all, We can as well say that driving is laziness and the. call trekking for hours and miles as being hard working. Why must we accept that something must be stressful for it to be valuable ? This is old and archaic dogma and mentality. This needs to change in the world of today. Everything now is smart. Smart tools for academic research isn’t a bad thing either. Just know how to use the tools and their limitations.

Bro try GPT4... The fact is AI has come to stay just embrace it.

By this time 2025, a lot of software jobs and coding jobs will be lost but another fact is work no dey finish.

AI will become a religion to some people very soon.
It’s only a matter of time before some humans start worshipping artificial intelligence

Generative AI possesses several characteristics that are often associated with divine beings.

We are about to witness the birth of a new kind of religion. In the next few years, or perhaps even months, we will see the emergence of sects devoted to the worship of artificial intelligence.

As these chatbots come to be used by billions of people, it is inevitable that some of these users will see the AIs as higher beings. We must prepare for the implications.

The risks
There are several pathways by which AI religions will emerge. First, some people will come to see AI as a higher power.

Generative AI that can create or produce new content possesses several characteristics that are often associated with divine beings, like deities or prophets:

It displays a level of intelligence that goes beyond that of most humans. Indeed, its knowledge appears limitless.
It is capable of great feats of creativity. It can write poetry, compose music and generate art, in almost any style, close to instantaneously.
It is removed from normal human concerns and needs. It does not suffer physical pain, hunger, or sexual desire.
It can offer guidance to people in their daily lives.
It is immortal.

Second, generative AI will produce output that can be taken for religious doctrine. It will provide answers to metaphysical and theological questions, and engage in the construction of complex worldviews.
