Your highest degree (post-graduate)
Femi005:
Hello everyone please I need some clarifications. I have a first degree and a postgraduate degree. Which of them will I need to access by WES.
to get two or more degrees one of the credentials must be of 3 years or more duration . So you are to evaluate both bsc and post graduate.

Hi Senior parents in the house,

My family and I are planning to land in Canada towards the end of May. I’m currently pregnant and will be 30 weeks pregnant by the time we land. Our plan is to land in Burnaby, BC given that my brother stays there and himself and his wife have offered to house us during our initial months especially given my current state.

From my research, the Medical Service Plan (MSP) for BC doesn’t become active until you have spent 3 months in the province. The advice given by BC government is for newly-landed immigrants to register for private insurance that can cover them during the 3 month waiting period. However, private insurance doesn’t seem to cover childbirth. I will most likely go into labour before the lapse of the 3 months and because I’ve had a prior C-section, I am likely to have a C-section again. The out-of-pocket cost for C-section is around CAD12k which is a lot and unlikely to be refunded by the time my MSP becomes active.

I’d appreciate any advice I can get from those who have had babies in their first few months of landing. What do you think is my best bet?

I was in your shoes. The RFV email expressly states that your passport should have a minimum validity of 6 months for you to submit it for PR visa and COPR. What I did was to renew and I paid through the nose for express and even traveled to Abuja. It took a total of 4 days and then I submitted both old and new passport (used a rubber band to join them).

If you go through this thread, you’d see some people have dropped passport plugs that process within a day (Yola and places in the North). If you have fears that your renewal will take a while, just use the web form link in your RFV email to ask for a longer time to allow for passport renewal.
the passport is for student visa

I landed in BC pregnant and I had to pay for everything from scans to blood work etc.
It was after the 3rd month I got MSP.
If I had prior knowledge I would have gone to Alberta where my coverage would have started counting immediately I landed.

If your status permits, you can wait and give birth in Nigeria before traveling, it will save you a fortune. But like others mentioned, better to land in another province that offers immediate MSP. I would prefer the latter personally, if you are traveling with your spouse, it is good you hit the ground running immediately. I personally would avoid staying with a relative, that’s a different topic entirely.

Is MBA degree seen as masters for someone applying for express entry or must it be Msc?

An MBA is literally a masters degree, just in business administration. Why would an MSc be recognized/accepted and an MBA wouldn’t. With how expensive and “prestigious” it usually is.

It's a post-graduate degree now. This question is funny

Thank you Niceapple. In your case, you became covered before your delivery, right?

pardon my yeye question 😁. Someone want to sponsor it so asked to verify and moreover I’m already 29 and felt it’s too late to start express entry application. Just being skeptical

Thanks sir. The spacing between my PPR and estimated delivery date doesn’t allow for adding the new baby to my application. I’m currently researching other provinces that give immediate coverage. The reason we were considering staying with my brother is that we’re doing a soft landing and would only be in Canada for some months and then return to Nigeria to wrap things up with our jobs. I’m pursuing an internal transfer that would involve renegotiating my employment contract after my maternity leave. So our plan was to move permanently when that’s sorted.

Good Day House, my short question is on ECA.

I have ND and HND in Electrical Engineering and will like to evaluate the two to get 2 certificates.

My question now is which ECA body is the best shot for me ?

Thanks

@aestake thanks for your initial post on delaying OINP, it inspired me to look at it properly and came to understand that Ontario was just trying to raise funds. Eventually didn’t submit the OINP and in on this one. I have always maintained that the numbers will come down, that is the only way to get 400k plus people in.

We are Family of 3, we are on 488. I changed the profile to unaccompanied spouse and CRS is now 493. Hopefully we will get ITA today.

My wife is the Principal Applicant.

Can i go ahead and accept the ITA and afterwards, Can my son go with my Wife to Canada using this mode?.
We have stayed long in this Process, we cannot take any chance anymore.

What do you guys advices please?
Should i just go on with the unaccompanying profile or wait for CRS score to drop further?
I hope you were patient enough to leave your profile as it is and get today’s invite. A surprise draw of 484, all programs draw, 7000 invites was done today.
