Please I’m about to apply for the SOWP, and I need y’all help to provide answers/advise to some of my questions below;

1. How much do you suggest one should have at minimum (naira) in the account for proof for fund?

2. In a situation where the fund would be gifted to me by a sponsor, do you advise I move the money in to my account and print the statement? How do I explain the lump sum?

3. Should I instead fix the money in fixed deposit or invest in mutual funds and submit the certificate as proof of fund?

4. Would Deed of Assignment for a landed property suffice as property documents/paper for proof of ties?

This depends on the family size. For a family of just the spouse 4,000CAD + 1,000CAD for misc. expenses. If additional family member(s), 3,000CAD for each of them.

2. In a situation where the fund would be gifted to me by a sponsor, do you advise I move the money in to my account and print the statement? How do I explain the lump sum?
You would need a gift deed and money can be transferred to your account. the gift deed should capture all that concerns the funds - that will explain the lump sum. A family member is preferable but non-family member is still okay.

3. Should I instead fix the money in fixed deposit or invest in mutual funds and submit the certificate as proof of fund?
Getting mybankstatement from your Savings/Current Acct., fixed deposit, or mutual funds is all fine as far as it is in your name.

4. Would Deed of Assignment for a landed property suffice as property documents/paper for proof of ties?
It depends on the size of the landed property, for example, 10 acres and a plot of land are totally different. I will advise you to use parents, businesses, jobs, and any other asset in conjunction with that land property. Unless of 'cos, the land in question is massive.

My spouse got his passport request 22nd march 2023

Application submitted: 24th September 2022
Medical updated: 26th October 2022

No review or background check before 21st march 2023. We sent two webforms (Nairobi and general) and an email around 11pm Nigerian time on 21st and got a response around 11am on 22nd.

I wish everyone one waiting a quick and positive response.

Hi Everyone,

Please, those that submit family passports for stamping, my spouse's and my daughter's passport was sent together in one envelope for stamping to Abuja. I got 2 tracking numbers from VfS and steadily getting the passport movement notification from both Vfs & IRCC. Today, I notice my daughter passport as been stamped because of the counterfoil update, and has been sent back to VAC, while my spouse's passport is still with IRCC. I thought they always stamp everything at once and put in one file before sending it back to VAC. Please anyone that has experienced this? Thanks.

I think so! Since you are in Abuja just go to any DHL near you or UPS. Request for 2-way courier. I bet it will be same-day delivery.

Guys! I tracked my daughter's passport now, and it says it has been couriered from VAC Abuja on its way back, while my spouse says it's still under process at IRCC Office. Is anyone in this kind of situation, or what could be the issue? Both passports were submitted as one timeline and file, and I also paid for UPS 2-way courier. Wonder why they couriered my daughter's passport and left the other passport behind.

You don't have to travel down to Abuja, don't waste your flight money. Visit any DHL or UPS in port Harcourt to submits your passport, and request a 2-way courier.

You can submit physically. My spouse submitted his own yesterday physically at Abuja VFS.

They are receiving in Lagos Office but can't say about Abuja. However, since it's the same Organisation, I see no reason for the double standard.

If you live you Abuja, I will advise you to give it a shot.

I will suggest you send a webform and email reminding them of the timeline. Timeline for temporary work permit from nigeria is now 25weeks. And it should be almost 25 weeks by now.

Yes. It was a refusal for my wife. But that of my daughter (vv) is still there.

For my student visa . I booked my flight from PHC to Abuja to submit my passport. Then paid for UPs to bring it back to me in PHc. I paid there at the VAC. They will ask you how you want it to be returned. It just back to me in 3 days.
