What is bad is bad. It is bad. Though it is a common shortcut, it is still wrong to engage in it and its widespread practice cannot legitimatize it in anyway. @OP, starting a business with sugar daddy proceeds if sex is what was offered in exchange is just a magnification of the evil deed and doesn't legitimatize the foundation and source of capital. |

Yogibor:In most countries, prostitutes are known to take better care of themselves as far as STDs are concerned than other women and girls in relationships. As for respect and dignity, Nigerian men already bodyshame and bully women who aren't even prostitutes so why should a one who works as one be ashamed or worry about your idea of respect? ![]() 1 Like |

kelspinall:1. Prostitution and yahoo are in no way similar. For one, prostitutes offer sex, they do not defraud individuals in any way or form. So comparing yahoo-ism to prostitution means e fit be say lights dey off up there. ![]() 1 Like 1 Share |

Kobojunkie:Her excuse is bullsh**. If you wanna be a prostitute, fine... But making it seem as though poor girls have no other option than to have sex for money is plain stupid... The idea is degrading... As though women are nothing more than their bodies. What happened to working smart? Petty trade? There are many options to choose from. Becoming a prostitute is your choice, and you would deal with the consequences (including stigmatization) and have no one else to blame but yourself... Take responsibility. It's not the fault of men, or society, or the economy. ![]() 7 Likes 4 Shares |
Re: Campus Prostitution Not So Bad(reasons) by Kobojunkie: 6:36pm On Mar 23, 2023 |
Banilla:1. Interesting! What options are available to the millions of poor girls on university campuses then? ![]() 2. If all you have is your body, do you simply curl up and die or do something with it? Poverty itself is mentally degrading, so choosing to fight one degrading factor with another, makes a lot of sense when you find yourself down there mentally. ![]() 3. Working smart? Petty trade? So, what you are suggesting is that on a campus of about 3000 girls, and maybe 3000 boys, surrounded by so many petty traders themselves desperate to feed their kids, almost every girl should take to petty trading in order to earn their daily meals and needs? How does that in fact work out for anyone? Have you ever tried doing petty trading yourself? I happen to have tried it back when I was a kid with no success. I ended up having to eat my inventory because there was so much competition we could all barely squeeze out enough profits from our trades to make ends meet that way. That is why I so hate it when folks suggest that petty trading is the way out of poverty for others. ![]() 4. Many of those girls choose prostitution because it is what is available to them. They don't have the money nor the business know-how with which to start what you call petty trading— many probably figured out that having yet another petty trader in each hostel room means they will likely not get anywhere fast—, and since there are no factories, companies, etc., around campuses to hire them, they resort to doing what they know there is great demand for and pays well. You would need to build lots of companies to handle most of the needs around campuses where the majority of the students are from poor homes abeg. ![]() 5. As for the place of society and the economy, well, do the maths abeg! With over 90% of the population living below the poverty line and with unofficial unemployment as high at least at over 30%, what do you think could be the major reason why many of these girls resort to prostitution as a way out of poverty? Do you think they love sex so much? ![]() 1 Like |

Kobojunkie: I don't care. I didn't read half of what you wrote... A woman has more to offer than her body. Poverty affects both gender, yet there are far more female prostitutes... Don't think I've seen a male sex worker. What are the men on campus doing that the women can't? It's degrading to assume a woman's only way outta poverty is through prostitution. It's dumb. ![]() If you decide to be a prostitute, do so knowing fully well you have other options no matter how hard they are... Don't create a thread later on offering excuses, blaming others. Poverty affects men most, in Nigeria. A woman has the option of depending on her family and partner, it's not the same for them. They literally have to hustle not only for themselves but their present (parents, siblings, etc) and future families (wives and children), and most are still students. I'm a feminist. And prostitution is a job, I believe so... But if you choose to do it, take responsibility. Even if the trade is slow or exhausting, it's still an option. One you refused to take for whatever reason. ![]() 8 Likes 4 Shares |
Re: Campus Prostitution Not So Bad(reasons) by Kobojunkie: 7:55pm On Mar 23, 2023 |
Banilla:1. None of those women believe that all they can offer is their body. As a matter of fact, many of them go on to do other things in life. ![]() 2. Prostitution is a means to an end. ![]() 3. It is a job and people take whatever job is available to them when what they would prefer is not available to them. With poverty rates higher than 90% as it is today, expect that more and more women will have not much else to do but to choose prostitution or marriage as a poverty alleviation scheme. ![]() 4 Likes 1 Share

Kobojunkie:There is no justification for her choosing to sell her body which will definitely become worthless to the unfortunate man who will wife her.. there are a zillion opportunities and means to make money be it legal or illegal (if u want to go that way) prostitution is not one of them except for those who can't task their minds to greater things other than to spread legs and assume different positions for different strangers to plough... It's shameful that in this age a lady still thinks selling her pussy is her only way out 1 Like |

Killbillz:1. The worth of her body is her business and not yours to decide or delegate upon. ![]() 2. A zillion opportunities and means yet the unofficial unemployment rate in Nigeria remains as high as 30% — as high as 50% among the youths— for more than a decade now. Why aren't the many unemployed youths who at least have a degree taking advantage of the zillions of opportunities you are quick to mouth off about? ![]() 3. In a country where over 90% of the people exist below the poverty line, it is expected that many will resort to any means available, including prostitution, to try to survive or fight to pull themselves up from under the curse of poverty. That is common knowledge. ![]() 2 Likes |
