The problem with used electronics sales.
Once in a while, you will mistakenly buy one that would stop working when it gets to your shop. Don’t ask me why. The cost to repair it would be more than what you bought it for .At the end of the day you will scrap it or abandon it. That is your capital right there.
This issue happens periodically in the business, such that by end of one year, the shop would be filled with condemned items. The capital is tied to all those.
Some that you already sold could be returned by the customer with military escort, claiming defects.

New electronics, although the profit might be little, but it does not have such challenge.

If you want to do new electronics , you can start with small household items like standing fans, kitchen blender, electric bulbs, iron, electric kettle, boiling rings, radio, table top electric stove etc. Go easy on big tvs and fridge and freezer.
Look into everyday items, extensions cords remotes etc .

Yeah daily huge revenue is assured, if your supermarket attracts a lots of people (that’s not even assured). But thinking about the 24/7 electricity costs, the tax, logistics, wages of workers (atleast three), purchase and maintenance of database server, internet subscriptions, clever shoplifters and shop rent etc, you need to be selling highly profitable products for you to get a high profit margin in a financial year. Sadly, people prefer to buy the highly profitable products in the local markets. How many people would head into a supermarket to purchase kitchen utensils and other home accessories?
Moreover, every government policy will drastically affect you either negatively or positively e.g money volume, fuel price hike, VAT etc.

Supermarket depends on level. Their is a lot of money in it, what u have to find is location. Money dey provision now on like before. N make sure u get cosmetic department, that is where the blood money is, you fit use #2000 sell one cream, perfume etc. Other one is wine. den General provision u go dey do turn over. Buy directly from company or dealer.

The problem with this business is how to manage your inventory to cut cost, spoilage, theft and this is the job of inventory auditor/control officer.

Lastly and very important the location must be where sales will move. Most of your supplier will supply your LPO and you pay them later like 2 weeks and above it depend on your agreement with them. If the business/sales is moving fast banks are ready to loan you money for expansion to meet demand and most banks use your inventory as collateral.

The economy is bad and the purchasing power of an average Nigerian is very low at the moment, infact they prefer to patronise other cheaper alternatives such as open market, mallams,kiosk etc

How many people presently will buy something that is sold for 200 for 300 in a supermarket in this present day naira?

Let me give you an example.

I use to buy lemon from all those aboki that sells fruits and vegetables for 50 per one here in the North. That same lemon is sold in the supermarket for 300 naira.

Maybe explore distribution of FMCGs instead.
Retailing is very dicy, overhead cost is high, accounting is a headache and even with software you cannot control staff 100 percent.
You will also have products that wont sell well and then expire.
It will cost you the same amount to be a big time distributor, and you can control it better. Just look into having a warehouse close to the market and observe other distributors.
