Sadly, lone strikers era is becoming a thing of the past. But Salah has a much better goal scoring record than Drogba if you want to make this about goals. Salah has 131 goals and counting in 219 appearances in the EPL while Drogba had just 104 goals in 254 EPL appearances. Apart from that, Salah holds the record of scoring the highest number of EPL goals (32) in a season. If you take into consideration that Salah beat great goal scorers in the EPL like CR7, Thierry Henry, Rooney and Alan Shearer to set such record, you'll appreciate how special that is. |

I understand. Salah na undisputed senior man. My comparison is not just about goals, it's also about value for the team. Am not saying Salah is not valuable oo, just that Drogba had more value in that Chelsea team. One can argue that the entire team was reliant on him. You cannot say the same about this Liverpool team. Once the team is down, Salah is also down and toothless. Personally, I think the team was even more reliant on Mane compared to Salah. But when the team spirit is high, Salah is super hot and untouchable. This is where Drogba shines. Not saying he (Drogba) doesn't have bad days, he does. But he has a way of waking up and changing the game singlehandedly even when the team is down and out. Just like Salah, Drogba was also hard to mark not because he can dribble but because of his big frame. But it's not good to compare Salah and Drogba, they have different task. Salah is exceptional. If you say he is better, I can't disagree (wholeheartedly). |

If we are to use a building construction as an analogy, Mo Salah is a bricklayer who lays many more bricks than other bricklayers in a building construction site(statistics and albeit with they help of another African great Sadio Mane). Didier Drogba was the architect of the building itself.
He was not just a footballer. He was the footballers footballer, carrying his team on his shoulders when it mattered the most. But above all, he realised that he was an African in a foreign land and that his behaviour ( on and off the field) will impact how other Africans are viewed. He was not just a footballer. He was a leader and a giant of a human being. A leader of Africans. He was so excellent not just on the ball, but also off the ball. It was as if he was saying to every African watching him: "this is the way to truly be successful- hardwork, creativity, resilience and leadership". "Do not let anyone tell you there are things you cannot accomplish".
What made him so impressive was that this was at the time when Chelsea carried itself like a "thug" and was viewed as a club for" thugs"(That has now changed).
This Gunner for Life is grateful for the personality and character Didier Drogba brought to full display for those who may have thought that Africans are no good. I salute him! 2 Likes 1 Share |

None, Salah holds goal record that no other player holds. Played in big team like Chelsea? Other Africans have played in good and even better teams - Madrid, Man U, Liverpool, Barca etc Golden boots to his name? He has just 2. Salah has 3 Won many titles? Sheggy13:
All the points I bolded here are not correct and I can prove them to you. What goal record does Drogba hold in EPL that no other African holds? None, Salah holds goal record that no other player holds. Played in big team like Chelsea? Other Africans have played in good and even better teams - Madrid, Man U, Liverpool, Barca etc Golden boots to his name? He has just 2. Salah has 3 Won many titles? Many others have - Yaya Toure, Salah etc
We're talking about English league, so let's focus there. For your information, both yaya and Salah can not be compared to Drogba when it comes to trophies. Yaya has eight total trophies during his playing days with city, Salah currently has eight too for liverpool and Chelsea, but Drogba has sixteen trophies for Chelsea only. Couple with the highest goal scorer award in EPL and champions league. Go Do your findings. When it comes skillful kind of play or individual performances for African players okocha and yaya will be topping the list, But to crown it all with trophies and individual awards okocha is no where to be found. That's where Drogba beats them all. We need to do a holistic kind of comparative analysis to know the real great. |

It’s Mo Salah all the way
My Argument: 1. He is the highest African goal scorer in EPL. 2. He won Epl golden boot 3times more than any other African player in England. 3 Salah has more champions league goal than any other African player. 4. He won PFA twice, no African player in Epl surpass him. 5. He’s only African player in Epl that emerge as premier league player of the year twice. 6. He won player of the month more than any other African player in Epl history 7. He is the only African player to be his club Epl record goal scorer. 8. He hold record goal (38)in a season to win golden boot. And so on .
No African player surpass Mo Salah in EPL |

The topic says GREATEST PLAYER IN EPL. Yes all the records (including EPL) are there for education purpose. Compare his EPL trophies/accomplishmens with Salah not just goals. Salah is outstanding but for now, Drogba is still ahead unless we want to be bias. |
