Hello and good afternoon everyone, Please, I need some clarification, my brother intend to gift me 15 million Naira for my studies. He is going to pay the amount into my account and i intend to wait till it's one month before i request for my statement of account, We intend to write a gift deed covering the 15m too. My question are as follows: 1. Does my brother still need to write a sponsorship letter? 2. On the Application form under sponsorship, will I click applicant? Or, click others and then, explain that it's me and my brother? Lastly, please is ok to use a business name that's showinh inactive on FIRS website? Is it also OK to submit a business certificate without submitting a tax clearance certificate for that it? Though, I have seen people whose application were approved with a tax clearance certificate for their business name. Many thanks |

d2nn: Hello d2nn, There is nothing you can do to facilitate or push it. Only thing you got to do is pray for positive outcome. Also continue to send webforms and email seeking for application update because sometimes when eligibility start and has stayed for long, it might be that a decision was already made but yet to be updated. It will surely end in praises 2 Likes 1 Share |

Aghoghomena: Hello, 1) so long as your brother is gifting you such money, he is already your sponsor and must include sponsorship documents. 2) yes, you will choose sibling/brother as your sponsor. 3) what kind of business is that and what scale of the business? For a large scale(wholesale) buying and selling business, tax is paid when goods are bought from manufacturers. So such person can include waybills and receipts. Which is also used to show money comes into that company and how it spends money. Again, being active or inactive on FIR portal don't really determine. What determines is how financially active the company is to have raised such amount of money he is gifting you and to prove if the 15million is genuinely for the purpose of your study and won't affect the company if such fund leaves the purse of the company. So you have to prove excellently that such money is for sole purpose of study and not for demonstration purposes. All the best 1 Like |

Ijiimmayi:That’s still not bad, if u go home often too it’s good nd if u can find a way to get a leave letter from ur company it will really help. And let ur wife include future plans in her sop. She can even say she’s coming back to start her own school or something |

Ketima: Many thanks bro. The money actually came from his personal account and not his business account. Though, I'm going to include his business certificate and operational details as supporting document. It's my business name that's showing inactive. Is not that I am submitting my business account statement, it's my personal account statements. But I need to use my business name to prove that I do business to be able to defend some other funds that passed through my account but it presently inactive on the FIRS portal and also don't have tax clearance for it. Last question please, must I use a business name to prove my source of income? Please note, I'm not working presently. |
