Poanan:Short response, No! Long response, yes you can, when you're 60. If you withdraw before 60, you pay a penalty (about 25%). mex551: British Airways has a very generous hand luggage allowance of 23kg and not 8kg. Check the dimensions of your suitcase though, you can also take your laptop bag etc. https://www.britishairways.com/jba/ba/fi_FI/baggage/bagcabin.html |
Re: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 2) by semmyk(m): 7:57am On Mar 29, 2023 |
slimanyd:BA has one of the most generous cabin (hand) luggage. Apart from your laptop bag, you can do more than 7kg (be reasonable though): some do literally as much as around 22kg. Beware, this vary from country to countries, and for different destination, (and in some instances, the check-in officer!). By and large, BA is generally liberal. Regarding paying for extra baggage(s), you can pay online before check-in, or you pay at the airport when checking in. Unfortunately, BA no longer published its extra baggage fee/prices on her site. What you can do is to get on BA site. For instance, https://www.britishairways.com/travel/managebooking/public/en_gb Put in your booking reference and surname. Your travel itinerary pops up. Within, kindly look for the baggage section. You'll see an option for adding more baggage 🛄. The prices of extra baggage, are not as expensive as they used to be; so it seems. Also, on some route, the difference between (a priori) online price and price at the airport can be as low at only £10 more expensive at the airport. Which is fine. However, on some route, the difference can be as much as £50. |

semmyk:. Thanks for this. I am covered. But just to also contribute. …extra luggage is £150. I paid for extra luggage in my return leg. Although I used free Avios. 😀😀😀. By the way, I only paid £180 for my return ticket to Naija. I used Amex/BA avios. That card is a life saver 😀😀😀 Meanwhile you can use my link to get your Amex card. Please gurus in the house, how much is the typical car insurance in London? The cheapest I've seen was about £700-800, but was told I can't access that since I have both UK provisional and Nigeria's international license (UK provisional trumps the Nigeria's international) and now, the prices are in the range of £1100-1300. Is this the normal price range? Thanks *I got the UK provisional license so I can begin the process of getting the UK full license. Seems that is not a good plan based on discussion with the insurance company agent I spoke with. |

Jcole123: You can consider looking for Customer Service roles, this is probably one of the office jobs that's easier to get in the UK when you don't have much UK experience. I got 3 job offers at once in January. Some of these roles can be fully remote which would help you work from home and be with your kids. You can search for Customer Service Advisor/Representative on Indeed. Try to apply to jobs that are hiring multiple people, you stand a better chance this way, also tailor your CV to the role. As for your long term career, data analysis is in demand you can try get part time volunteer jobs to build your UK experience.
