The other day, David Hundenyin was cursing out those doing that under his tweets.
They believe it'll make the responsible parties reply them to avoid negative publicity.
If you drag your Telco or bank in a thread you create, it may have just a few views and the company may not reply the thread.
However if you post it under a popular thread then the company will be 'forced' to answer you.

Some use it to plug their businesses too.
