Hello everyone!! How often can I check for available appointment dates in a day? If I have already picked a date, can I still be able to view earlier dates when they become available?
Thank you

[quote author=damkanlinsin post=122180159]Hello house, please all advice will be welcome thank you in advance.

I will be having my court wedding ending of next month. But my wife want to apply for admission now. Please hope this won’t be an issue when applying for F1 and F2 visa as I’m the F2 applicant.

And also is it advisable she use the name on her first degree for the application or my own surname she will be using after the court wedding.

Thank you In advanced to you all.

First of all, she should be able to show proof of funds that can sustain both of you. And you both will have to prove that you are not going with her you be a burden to the us gov. So it will be better if you can establish that you have a job that you can do remotely.
This is just my thought, because if she applies with a dependent without proving all these things might also affect her chances of getting a visa.
I too gained admission into MSU and was given the same advice by my friends who are there already. They advised that I go first and then he can come over after sometime, that when I have been able to get enough funds for both of us and established so footing over there.

Yes. This is good plan. I think it will work. If she goes before you. When a couple is going together on an F visa, it looks to the VO that this people are not planning to come back. During the interview for an f1 visa, one has to convince the VO that the person is just going for studies and plans to come back. When she has gotten the visa and traveled, you can start working on yours to join her.
On whether to use her maiden name or yours, its left for you guys to decide. As long as she has all the necessary documents to back up the change of name. I don't think it should be a problem. Maybe someone else can speak better on this.
I wish you guys all the best in this process.

Just like most people have said, POF is required for your 2 dependents. Stipends only cover you.
Your financial aid office is in a better position to explain this ambiguity to you.

Yes,it has been clarified. The 23599k is for my deficit and 2 dependents. My assistantship includes full tuition waiver and monthly stipend .

Thank you

It was a white woman that interviewed me. It was the last window by the right (can't remember the window number)inside one small office like place sha.

VO: oh you're going to school in Louisiana

Me: Yes

VO: How are you going to afford this( something like that I can'treally remember)?

Me: My dad is sponsoring me. He is a senior manager at .... bank

VO: Your dad is a banker?

Me: Yes

VO: How long as he been working there?

Me: Over 15 years now.

VO: So why did you choose this school in Louisiana.

Me: I chose ULM because I loved the fact that they held virtual information sessions where-

She cut me off

VO: Did you get accepted by other schools?

Me: Yes. 3 other schools

VO: Name them?

Me: The university of Michigan Flint, Norwich University and William Patterson University of new Jersey.

VO: Okay so you chose this because because you liked that they held information sessions?

Me: Yes. I was able to enquire more about scholarships, school of nursing etc.

VO- Oh okay. Do you have siblings?

Me: Yes I do. My older sister is-

VO:How many?

ME: 3 siblings.

VO: Your said your older sister is where? Here in Nigeria?

Me: No. She's currently studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of North Texas.

Vo: Oh North Texas.

Me: Yes. She's currently in her 2nd year.

VO: Okay. Have you traveled out of Nigeria before?

Me: No I have not.

VO: Okay. Give me a minute.

Then she started typing.

Then she said Congratulations I'm going to be granting your Visa. Itll be ready in the next 5 days. Always keep your I20 with you.

Omo I wanted to scream and start jumping.

Then she picked the white paper and joined it with my I 20.
Then she said Oh you know you can't travel more than 30 days before your expedited date.

I told her yes yes I know that.

No no I didn't apply for expedited appointment but just keep checking. The first date I saw then was actually in November. Then I saw two dates in March and then one in April.

Please when you first selected a November date. How did you check subsequent dates again?

I don't know how to check after selecting a November date.
