The satellite were built by 26 Nigerian engineers and the 100kg satellite was assembled alongside SSTL engineers, and within three days the Nigerian-built satellite NigeriaSat-X acquired its first satellite after the successful launch

NigeriaSat-X is the product of Nigeria's training and development programme. It is a great credit to NASRDA and their engineers that this satellite is performing well and its operations are progressing so quickly. Nigeria has been operating satellites since 2003. In fact In 2005 NigeriaSat-1 was the first satellite to send back pictures of the east coast of the US following Hurricane Katrina
