TheSuperNerd: I applaud KDB for knowing just when to release the ball. But the top praise is to Grealish. Gundo knew he will be there without looking. Grealish and Ake sync is top despite having dangerous Salah on their wing. No be to dey hold ball dey waste am with muscle like Simon Moses. Sure we do have the players. But half of the time, they lack discipline |

Grealish might be a good player but man...he is too dirty. Don't know why referees can't see through his gimmicks for cheap fouls. 1 Like |

And yes, the quick release by KDB to Mahrez on the right set up an initial 4 v 3 situation in favor of City which Mahrez utilised intelligently by quickly driving into that right halfspace centrally and seeking out Gundogan who had already Pre-Scanned to his left to know that Grealish would be there. That's part of what I am talking about. Initiating Quick transitions and Taking advantage of the transition situations presented to you. It became 4 v 4 as Mahrez found Gundogan but it was already too late as the 4th man (hendo) running in to cut City's initial 4v3 couldn't pick out Alvarez early enough. About Discipline... These lads (SE Players) need to be exposed to this system like an automation time and time again in training to drill it into them. They will pick it up and begin using it consistently. Their thought process in the final third will Change if we repeatedly drum this transition mentality into them. daveP: 3 Likes 2 Shares |

They have started wailing over carpentry attackers in the SE The moment good replacements come for Moses Simon and the overrated chuks is when you guys will know that thoe two pretenders have reached their peak and can't go above this level |

TheSuperNerd: Sincerely, the guy's style dey vex me gaan. He doesn't just understand that being in a threatening spot is way more better than his selfish muscling drama. See Mahrez! His path to take a shot has been blocked almost 4times this 1st half. Guy shapali release ball and drag away the attention from him, enabling him to be in a more advantageous spot inside the box. I'll love to see the Ake/Grealish style replicated between Zaidu/Simon(provided Simon get sense). Ake has done just well enough with Salah. No need for gumbody. |

daveP: Don’t criticize SE and it’s coaches abeg We have no football identity The boys train together Least 20 times in a year They all have different pattern of play because The country They came from doesn’t have a pattern or play style They all do what they can and hope for an individual effort to come to the rescue so to me it’s not the coach But our mentality and style |

TheSuperNerd: Do you know how many drills city does to get to this point for Bleep sake city trains 3 times a day And an extra session for film and positional awareness We can’t string 5 passes on the opposition half without having it intercepted now you want us to play like city ?? Have you seen city training camp and facilities? Have you seen the drills they run Please we have no business doing exactly that And we don’t have the personal to do that right now 1 Like |

TheSuperNerd: Im glad we know that none of this transition will be achieved by this Site Contractor. Since employers don't even know what they need, it becomes worse when selecting. If na long ball style, a draft of such coaches with that comes in. If na possession-same. If na park the bus.... I wonder what Nff wanted that they got Site Contractor. Kon dey use the useless 'Mou recommended him' thing to April fool all of us🤣🤣 One thing i love about the discipline is that if any big player doesn't behave, they'll get benched for small players that heed the coach's warning. Until the align since playing time is important. Another thing is how fastpaced approach to the final third is. No slowing down. Shapali shapali, from both teams. |

TheSuperNerd: You expect them to play like this when we currently have no player who has 10% output of kdb or the players you listed You can’t give what you don’t have They don’t play like that in their respective clubs and you expect them to turn into prime Barcelona within just 3 days of training wtf man |

Coaches make this happen bruv. If the coaches we have prioritize it, we would see some changes in our final third plays as well. We have every business doing exactly what led to that City goal. It is not a move limited to "few sides" in football. Even Remo Stars' Beyond Limits FA coach, Olumide Ajibolade speaks about this transition game to his young lads almost everytime and they are picking it up. Nduka prioritises this approach to his attackers in the Naija U17 and they apply it well so why say it is something the Super Eagles can't pick up and execute? The truth is the coaches aren't prioritising it. Also, our midfield still needs addressing because that quick transition move doesn't happen without an intelligent quick ball passer in the middle like we saw with KDB to Mahrez to set up that initial 4v3 situation. typicalgamer: 2 Likes |

typicalgamer: But this is no excuse even for a big African team like Nigeria. Yes we lack identity, but even the Moroccan Female team have an identity despite all players playing across the world. Everyone flying home for national games already understand that they are coming home to play the national team style. That's discipline. If they like they can do whatever they can at their clubs. Well, not bad, at least to wish. We need an identity. Especially Possession style. I can't even see games where our defenders becomes midfielders during games. I miss Balogun alot for that aspect. 1 Like |

daveP: Our identity from time immemorial has been individual brilliance and luck No other identity we have that’s why you noticed You can’t have least 5 Nigeria players starting in a single club Because what are we gonna do there ? Jam body football? 2 afcon back it was etebo wayward shot that hit opponents arm that gave us a pk. These are the little details |

Your excuses fail the test of cogency, dear one. Now to execute that first City Goal, We don't need to have a KDB when all that is needed is a genuine ball player in the middle with a near unlimited passing range and Vision. Think Nwakali here. We have that. A left footed RW who can actually penetrate into the half spaces and pick out gaps for a pass into the central areas... we have that in Chukwueze. Or a LW who can hug the left side or just be present in the left half space to provide that well timed cut back or cross following a quick transition or switch of play from right to left.... we have that in a disciplined Moses Simon and an in-form Lookman. It is all about instructions and repeating the moves in training whenever we meet. Priorities. Walid Regragui came in just few months to the WC and gave Morocco a style that got them to the bloody Semis. So please don't use time as an excuse. If the coaches prioritise, changes will be seen. typicalgamer: 3 Likes 3 Shares |

TheSuperNerd: We don’t have a player of marhez caliber neither do we have a player of kdb qualities How long did you think city practiced this move behind close doors ?? And you expect a coach to just be capable of drilling it into a team within a month ? If se had a month together to train trust me they’ll be a different beast. But as of right now with the pool of players we got we have no business doing 5% of what city is doing right now 1 Like |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by daveP(m): 1:41pm On Apr 01, 2023 |
typicalgamer: That is why I'm saying that even if city trains and drills, it is no excuse for Nigeria to not have such a style. The female teams have it. See the Sarina style at women's euros alone. Look at players like Bellingham and Akanji. Different style at club but once in national colors, they understand the style needed to play. So if we wish we had such and the excuse is that city trains 3ice daily, that is not just it. We go dey alright. We need an impressionist, disciplinarian as manager. |

TheSuperNerd: The problem now is that we’re not the ones who gets to decide if nwakali gets picked or not !! And trusting our anchor ⚓️ To a late bloomer like nwakali is suicidal and outright a gamble But all the same this generation don’t have the players to play the type of football we all want and dream of. Good pitch or bad this generation ain’t got that spark. We thrive on individual brilliance and luck |

You are only repeating yourself and your questions. I have addressed them in the post you quoted. And to the bolded... ask how Walid Regragui did it with just 2 months to the WC last year. You witnessed what he did? Good. And we have every business doing the exact move that led to City’s first goal. typicalgamer: 2 Likes |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheSuperNerd(m): 1:48pm On Apr 01, 2023 |
What you have isn't working and is even worsening. We are in a debilitating situation as far as our middle game is concerned. So will it hurt to take that gamble? And is it actually a gamble when analyses show he is exactly the kind of midfielder we need alongside a few others like Alhassan and Onyedika? And the individual brilliance and luck approach can all be transformed into a team that actually plays for one another and for a common goal. Coaches and priorities. It is their (the coaches') job to get a group of talented players to function right. This generation has enough talented players to play the kind of football we want. typicalgamer: 3 Likes |

Another Long ball switch yet again from Gundogan to Grealish, KDB attacks the gap in the left halfspace allowing Grealish to play him in, make his run centrally into the box while KDB who ran wingwards cuts the ball back and Grealish bags. Just 3 passes starting with that Gundogan long ball/play switch to a less concentrated left side and viola... GOAL!!! And you say we can't do this? All we need is a long ball expert who can switch plays quickly and smartly and the receiving winger in that less marked zone to make the right decision either to attack on the outside or the inside with corresponding support like we saw with KDB and Grealish. E no hard. 2 Likes 1 Share |

It's simple. Because Man City are doing it better than Liverpool has attempted while also keeping their rest defence kinda okay. Liverpool has been outclassed and outplayed. And please, avoid the cheap route of "lace your boots and go try it out". William Still who mostly did video games/football manager but knows the game enough is now a coach in Ligue 1 and doing very okay. Analytical eyes in the game is not limited to those who can play or has played. And guess what, I have played and can play. typicalgamer: 2 Likes 2 Shares |

TheSuperNerd: Lace your boot and go play is not an insult bro. With your analytical skills there’s certainly a department that you could fit right in perfectly. Because at the end of the day once Pablo Escobar lite gets sacked They’ll still hire someone who’s sole objective is to fill his pockets than build a team No matter how you put it we’re stuck with mediocrity for the next decade and that’s a fact |
