The thing is funny. With all the stress involved to japa, if we had the basics here wetin go carry me comot?

I have a huge interest in digital health and health informatics and how tech and AI can help medicine especially in telemedicine, Medical image analysis, early diagnosis and spotting patterns etc but I'm using pen and paper casenotes in 2023.

And someone wants to justify this. Na wa.

Doctor in Nigeria.

Lmaoo una feel say una careers hard😂😂.
Better ask medical practitioners in Nigeria to give you gists of miracles dey perform everyday without even tools that they can manage.

Then you'll understand why I consider the HOR to be very very stupid and as usual out of touch with reality 😂

One of my friends told me the story of a doctor who went to the UK.

Blud was supposed to inject a patient and he went to tie tourniquet so the veins would stand out and his colleagues were looking at him like a mad man.

Them get machine wey all you need do is place the body part inside and all the veins will be illuminated but his Nigerian training Don show am proper legitimate shege. Even said he narrowly avoided getting sued for malpractice.

In a group where some people were sharing house job stories, one sister told us of a patient who had fainted due to hypoglycemia (Low blood sugar levels) and had to be resuscitated with Coke because the ward and near wards had run out of ordinary 10% and 50% dextrose sugar infusions.

All these things fit make person craze but some people think it's just the pay.

Shriveled gbola is a walking talking bag of hypocrisy.

He calls obidients the worst names one can think of while turning a blind eye to the atrocities of the party which he supports. Age is supposed to make one wiser as he grows but I guess there's a reason why the saying, a fool at forty... Exists.
Very unfortunate he's fallen into the latter group.

Our very own number one hypocrite and defacto leader of the obidient mob, the one who.wished Peter obi dead, the one who voted pmb twice, the one who pissed on end sars is opening mouth. A clown who runs around stealing identities and home pictures. A person who cannot even decide on his sexuality. A complete and utter lack of self awareness, and a template for the obidient tongue

The Obidient movement is full of jokers like this. Aimless and directionless. The election is over and gone people are moving on but as this was the only source of meaning in their lives, we may continue to be plagued with this wailing indefinitely.

But it is what it is

Stop repeating yourself, bros

I have asked you to give me a figure of what that better pay is, and you have been dodging the question

The UK equivalently pays 4 million a month
NG pays 250k a month

So tell us the the better pay that will make a Nigerian doctor reject a UK work visa

Tell us, sir and stop repeating yourself
You don't migrate to the UK to spend Naira there, so I don't understand this payment vs payment comparison you're doing. Pay doctors a livable wage and they'd stay back, improve their working conditions and they'd stay back, if na by difference in rates of payment, all the doctors for the world for don migrate to US and Australia.

A good number of doctors are migrating because what they make here is impossible for them to live even an average life on.

Back in the day, during the PDP era, you knew automatically that once a doctor is returning from housemanship, those wey Neva buy car will return with their cars, some would get married off the money and others, just live soft....all making a transition to middle-class life. These days I go see doctors for hospitals e go dey do me like say make I squeeze something enter their hand, cause they look haggard as fvck.

Fix the systemic problems in the health sector and they'd stay back, and no, they don't have to earn what their colleagues in the UK are earning for this to happen, because they never did earn the equivalent of what those there made.

But the country can afford to pay it's politicians this much? It can afford to buy fire trucks at 1.2bn each?
India has 1.1 billion people, check the amount they used to conduct their census and then check how much NPC is proposing.

Bros I use Amadioha name take beg you, own the fact that you don't want doctors to leave because you're selfish and you want them to keep you alive at the cost of their own lives with your chest.

I dey see patients everyday in a hot airless room. Some equipment wey niggas dey use outside na for book and picture we dey see am. I can't even use gloves unless I squirrel away some whenever I manage to see.

You people think it's just the pay that's making people to leave and it is hilarious.

Our current wage bill is 30% of the total budget. What you guys are proposing and the resultant effect will take our wage bill to more than 70%. That is not realistic.

I already said that I do not think that an increase in salary will necessarily make doctors stay. We all know at the back of our minds that the conditions of work that will make them stay is not likely to happen in this lifetime.

So what do we do in the interim? Ask them to serve and endure another 5 years or keep losing them in large numbers to the West?

Just so you know, it has never been easy and doctors have always been "japaing". I know this because my mum tried to leave in the early 2000s or late 90s and she couldn't raise enough money.

Fuel subsidy is about to removed,Una go still wail and blame obidients again cheesy if we decide to support buhari and APC on this again grin
But Obi said he would stop fuel subsidy too?

Therefore, you cannot use this to criticise.

You can only say Obi would look for ways to alleviate the hardship generated by the removal of fuel subsidy if he were the president.

But to say APC is about to remove fuel subsidy is not any form of criticism since Obi himself said he would remove it.

Una get problems ooo.

If you wan japa go UK, to register for PLAB 1 is around 250 pounds. This one can be taken in Nigeria but if you're not in Abj, Lag or 042 you gats transport yourself go there.

Plab 2 is only taken in the UK. Registration is like 900 pounds. Cost of visitor's visa registration is 100 pounds. We never add flight, accommodation, feeding, verification of documents (200 or so pounds, I'm not sure).

We've not added what it will take to study for these exams while working scary schedules and in terrible conditions. We haven't even talked about cost of preparation materials. Or IELTS.

Or the headache that the embassy will give you when you're applying for a visa.

Me that's an Optometrist, total cost for GOC registration is like 1300 pounds and I never add IELTS, job search, interviews. Or what it takes to get your school and board to send the required documents.

If you're talking USA, that one is another thing.

Convert these to Naira. How much are we being paid? With all the insult from patients and relatives on top of am.

If Nigeria can afford to pay HoR members take home circa 15M+ per month; for a job that does not require such stressnous training then we can afford to pay doctors 5M per month.. If we can afford to spend on billions on Buhari treatment abroad we can afford to pay...

The NMA should be requesting the have its take home pegged to that of HoR.

That number is too high coz the number of doctors we have is way more than the HOR.
But I know that doctors atleast deserve nothing less than 750k

Their basic salary na around 900k - 1.3m but their bogus allowance jack up their total monthly pay to around 13m monthly.

It’s ridiculous
