Na their bogus allowances raise their overall take home.

Their basic salary na around 900k - 1.3m but their bogus allowance jack up their total monthly pay to around 13m monthly.

It’s ridiculous

Are you sure? Ahmed Lawan is quoted as saying the 13m is their quarterly allowance and not monthly allowance

Same thing.. That salary is different from running cost.
That is also different from constituency funds.

The thing is funny. With all the stress involved to japa, if we had the basics here wetin go carry me comot?

I have a huge interest in digital health and health informatics and how tech and AI can help medicine especially in telemedicine, Medical image analysis, early diagnosis and spotting patterns etc but I'm using pen and paper casenotes in 2023.

And someone wants to justify this. Na wa.

So many things I want to say, but I don't have strength.
Let the ignorance roll on.

His explanation makes sense a bit because normally all these allowances are meant to be paid in a lump sum at the beginning of the year.

They don’t collect constituency funds. Constituency projects are usually funded by the government directly. What they influence is who the project get awarded to.

There is a reason those guys are always reluctant to publish a breakdown of their pay.

The only 3 jobs in Nigeria that have salaries that can rival 1st world countries are politician, olosho, and pastor.

WS is a highly accomplished writer and highly respected figure in society. However, I don't agree with his remarks about obidients demonstrating fascism in their approach to politics.

While it's true some obidients exhibit this attitude, I think the nobel laureate committed a fallacy of hasty generalizion thinking his remarks apply to all the youths that support PO.

Nevertheless, I don't approve the wide criticism his remarks have generated among many PO supporters online, and I have my reservations about the "cancel culture" of the obidient movement.

That's why I've never partaken in it personally.

If possible they should put the pictures of President Tinubu on major highways. Anyone who doesn't like it can close his eyes or avoid driving on the highway

Aptly put.

I think a noble and respected personality has a very important assignment to preserve his/her reputation by being non-sentimental or close to

Buhari-Osibanjo's promises of :
1) soak the land with blood

2) form a parallel government

Are more disastrous or rather treasonous in all aspects than Obi-datti's statements...

Him being mute in such a grave promises and having a remarks on Obi-datti's is actually a recipe for dragging ...

In all....I respect him but I think he was actually too much in a haste to categorised them in an unsuitable phrase

You don't migrate to the UK to spend Naira there, so I don't understand this payment vs payment comparison you're doing. Pay doctors a livable wage and they'd stay back, improve their working conditions and they'd stay back, if na by difference in rates of payment, all the doctors for the world for don migrate to US and Australia.

A good number of doctors are migrating because what they make here is impossible for them to live even an average life on.

Back in the day, during the PDP era, you knew automatically that once a doctor is returning from housemanship, those wey Neva buy car will return with their cars, some would get married off the money and others, just live soft....all making a transition to middle-class life. These days I go see doctors for hospitals e go dey do me like say make I squeeze something enter their hand, cause they look haggard as fvck.

Fix the systemic problems in the health sector and they'd stay back, and no, they don't have to earn what their colleagues in the UK are earning for this to happen, because they never did earn the equivalent of what those there made.

250k that I heard they are paying doctors in Nigeria is way above average in the Nigerian economy or which other profession in Nigeria does the starting salary equal half of that.

In my NYSC days while normal corners were earning total of 8500 corper doctors were getting 70k

If Nigeria can afford to pay HoR members take home circa 15M+ per month; for a job that does not require such stressnous training then we can afford to pay doctors 5M per month.. If we can afford to spend on billions on Buhari treatment abroad we can afford to pay...

The NMA should be requesting the have its take home pegged to that of HoR.

How many HOR members do we have in Nigeria? Compared to how many doctors we have in Nigeria

Almost every University graduates more medical student yearly than HOR members

Wole Soyinka has paid his dues. So he deserves to be cut some slack.

Those at the fore-front of criticising and condemning WS should save their energy for the incoming BAT government. They'll need that energy in ample amounts when BAT starts his tenure.
