Two different concepts.
Democracy
Decentralization/Devolution/Federalism

China has devolved dictatorship by CCP.Thankfully it mostly run by meritocracy.

Democracy at core is what French Revolution gave humanity - Personal freedoms, human rights and equality. -Liberty, Equality, Fraternity - Liberté, égalité, fraternité

There is nothing like that in China. You cant say or do or etc what you want.

But again like I said - that has not stopped them from developing - because it has a well run devolved system of gov based on merit.

Like USSR before - you can have efficient dictatorship - that quickly industralized Eastern Europe.

Jerry Rawling in Ghana run such a system - but culled anyone who disagreed with him.

Rwanda is now example of such an efficient dictatorship. You know better in Rwanda than talk politics - right from the airport you're being watched.

You're very dumb

China is not a dictatorship.... Infact it is the most decentralized country on this entire planet effectively govern from the very local of levels.
It has more political parties in it congress than both houses of the US combined

The ideas that we now take as standards & for granted - we have to thank the French Revoluton of 1789 - when french peasant overthrew their king Louis, killed almost all the french elite and then defined a system that was going to be FAIR to everyone. This was the watershed moment for humanity.

From ChatGP

The French Revolution had a significant impact on human rights and constitutionalism, both in France and around the world. Here are some of the key ways in which it influenced these areas:

Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen: The French Revolution produced a landmark document, the Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, which enshrined many of the principles of modern human rights. This document affirmed the equal rights of all citizens, including the right to liberty, property, security, and resistance to oppression.

Constitutions: The French Revolution gave rise to a series of new constitutions, which aimed to establish more democratic and representative forms of government. These constitutions often incorporated the principles of popular sovereignty and individual rights, and served as models for other countries seeking to create their own constitutions.

International impact: The French Revolution had a profound impact on the development of international law and human rights. It inspired the creation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, which works to protect the rights of prisoners of war and other vulnerable groups. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations in 1948, drew heavily on the principles of the French Revolution.

Civil liberties: The French Revolution helped to promote the idea of civil liberties, including freedom of speech, the press, and religion. These freedoms are now widely regarded as fundamental rights in modern democratic societies.

Separation of powers: The French Revolution played a key role in promoting the idea of the separation of powers, whereby different branches of government have distinct responsibilities and are able to check each other's power. This principle has become a cornerstone of modern constitutionalism.

Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia and of course most of middle east are example of dictatroship that transition into proper developed countries - and eventually build institutions.

Dictatorship has nothing to do with development. China is good example of great dictatorship that has developed.

They are NOT mutual exclusive.

Yes of course democratic strong independent institution is great on its own but a country will not go down for lacking one.

Ghana is good example - Jerry Rawlings - eventually transitioned you back into democracy - from military dictatorship.

Rwanda has certain peculiarities that make democracy now and in the future difficult - as minority Tutsi at 10 percent - will simply be killed by 90 percent majority Hutus like happen in 1960s (sending Kagame to Uganda as small boy refugee) and in 1990s.

Rwandese Tutsi have to find a formula of democracy that will work for them - popular vote is an existential threat to their very existence - and Kagame & his successor are likely to have tight control of institution - just like Isreal has to deal with Palestine in Isreal using crude methos.

The fact is you are not ignoring the fact that strong institution build these country , either they used their strong men to achieve it or not is not the bone of my argument but actualizing a developed country thru an institution rather than strongmen.

No country can build a progressive country simply by focusing on a single strong men.

What we need are strong institutions and not strong men. As Rawlings once said, ""we must put institutions in place where even when we appoint criminals as our leaders it will be very difficult for them to rob us because the system will not permit them to do so"".

Rwanda has no hope outside kagame agenda . What a mess ? Is that what you called a country they can't even chatter their own life and predict their destiny till next 2034 except what kagame want .

Even if we are to agree for the sake of argument . None of them is actually a developed country bar singapore or maybe UAE ( it is highly debatable) as you rightly put. But none of this country build their country on a single man , A single man may appear to pilot the idea of the nation building but it was later institutionalized .

No country can developed without strong institution. That is the secret of the western country and that make it work every time.

Most of kwame nkrumah development agenda went off when he was kick out of power. Ghana was already head starting and having a system comparable to india ad indonesia back then. Everything collapsed when kwame nkrumah was kick off from power.

Kwame collapsed Ghana economy.
He took over one of few thriving British colonies (together with Nigeria)
And by 1962 had proven Brits right when six year later Ghana became BANKRUPT (like now)
He couldn't pay salaries including the army.
The army predictably overthrew him in 1966
Invited IMF to fix Ghana.
IMF have never left Ghana.

How did Nkurumah bankrupt Ghana
He first enacted a communist dictatorship
Next he went on ambitious volta dam - way above anything Ghana could finance.

Ghana had 1.2B dollar economy then (one of africa highest backed by gold and cocoa) -
what does Kwame do - take almost 1billion dollar loan to build volta/Akasombo dam.
That kind of overleveraging has one outcome.

Outcome BANKRUPTCY
Outcome Military dictatorship

Ghana to this day is yet to learn the lesson of over-borrowing or over-leveraging.

Another confused idiot who doesn't know anything about Ghana but wanted to sound apt , Nkrumah took Ghana to IMF indeed but he rejected it later on when he discovered the later austerity measure is not in correlation with his fiscal expenditure .

Nkrumah built Tema Harbour , The Akosombo Dam The Tema Estate, Takoradi Railways many factories , universities Schools, Atomic Junction Project Colleges Polytechnics and roads Etc all these are more than the imaginary one billion dollars you said he borrowed . When britain did not leave Ghana anything. The British you are stupidly talking about was bankrupt after the 2nd World War. They borrowed billions from Canada and the U S in the 50s to rebuild their economy. Nkrumah, the legend stopped Britain from siphoning the little that we had. They did not leave us money neither did they do us a favour. It was our money saved due to Nkrumah's own fiscal prudence.

Even at that Nkrumah was able to pioneer other Africa project in the spirit of pan africanism . From Ghana own pulse , Nkrumah built a railway network for Mauritania , built an International airport in Algeria, .give out free cash to guinea conakry for a new nation.

If Nkrumah hadn't built Ghana from the scratch, we would have been doomed like kenya by now.

NKrumah had great intentions but he was an economic idiot.
He inherited a thriving economy with gold, cocoa, palm oil and such minerals.
Initially he got help from black American economists - led by Arthur Lewis - keen to prove the Brits wrong.
Lewis - brilliant economist- prof at Princeton - who'd go on to win Nobel - designed an excellent program for Ghana.
The idiotic Nkrumah dumped the plan - told Lewis - that politics was more important than economics.
Nkrumah went on to borrow spree - to build grandiose projects - and did usual stupidity of import substitution.

The result - Ghana economic growth nosedived to 0.5% for most of 1960s - debt couldn't be repaid.
Like now - Ghana became bankrupt.
Nkrumah was disposed by the army - and army invited IMF.
IMF has never left Ghana since.

In fact economy through 1960s till mid 1980s when Rawling took over continued to degenerate.
Ghanians left en-masse - abroad - including Nigeria.
Nkrumah of course died abroad.

Now kenya is totally different story.
Kenya had been one of those hopeless colonies of the British.
Unlike Nigeria & Ghana that were self-sustaining - British used to send lots of money to Kenya colony
Nothing seem to work in kenya - not even agriculture - as British farmers had to try to adapt crops for kenya
There was no palm oil, cotton, cocoa or anything that grew naturally.

So when Kenya got independence - it had I think almost half Ghana economy.
Jomo Kenyatta tapped the few young kenyans who had comeback from Ivy league schools
Led by Kibaki and Tom Mboya they unveiled a brilliant economic plan.

Kenya in 1960s through to 1980s grew at almost same rate as Asian tigers.
Kenya average growth rate was above 7%
It was as good as likes of Singapore or Taiwan or South Korea.
Except of course kenya population was also growing at world highest rate of 4% annually
Kenya men and women were breeding like rats
By 1980s - all that breeding took down the economy
Moi - an idiot - did the rest of the damages.

It wasn't until 2003 with brilliant Kibaki now president that economy finally recovered and has been firing on all cylinders since then.

Conclusion> Let economist run the economy > Listen to them> Ghana is poster child of stupidity except for brief period under Jerry Rawling.

You should not expect him to be sane.

As we speak today, Nkrumah's economic ventures are what is driving the Ghanaian economy.

No wonder Ghana is far developed, progressive and advanced than Kenya.
Kenya since independence has not had someone as Smart, Knowledgeable, developmental and with economic knowledge like Nkrumah, before.

They keep running failed policies that leads Kenya Bankrupt and unable to feed itself because of laziness and stupidity.
They've managed to build a North Korea in Africa

Mad cow, if Ghana had allowed brilliant Arthur Lewis time to make his economic policies a reality, you wont be in a hole now.

Nkurumah committed two mistakes - that Ghana gov just cannot get over
1) Over-promising citizens leading Over-borrowing leading to bankruptcy - almost every 3yrs smiley It hilarious.
2) Import substitution - save only for Jerry Rawling - who re-oriented to Export oriented growth.

Asian tigers you want to align yourselves - became developed - because they avoided import substitution - and went for export led manufacturing.

Many countries in Africa continue to commit Nkrumah economic mistakes
1) over-leveraging to dish "development" & win elections - creating risk of bankruptcy
2) Import substitution - as it very intuitive and therefore appealing industrial policy

For Africa countries to prosper - it must allow their best economist to design the best economic policies.
1) Avoid too much debt. Dont overpromise to build roads & provide free education just to win political power.
2) Avoid import substitution.
3) AOB

Again nobody can question Nkrumah great intentions for Ghana to develop. He was just an economic idiot. He knew the politics. He thought all you needed to develop was build dams, ports, etc using borrowed money. He didnt understand the risk of taking loans - and soon the economy went belly up.

Usual donkey fart. Loud but useless. Kenya has not gone belly up. It nearly got there. It run to the hills once she got the early warnings. Ghana continued gorging themselves with Eurobond.

In fact Kenyans came to Ghana to try reason with them - but they were busy shopping for Eurobond in midst of COVID - WHO FCK does that.

Now as we speak Ghana is KNOCKED OUT FOR A GENERATION.

Down and out until 2037. The first bond holder earliest they get paid is 2027. Ghana bond holders are taking huge losses now. Nobody will buy Ghana bonds (maybe short term bills) for QUITE A LONG TERM. You violated a key principle that gov should never default on it's debt - to rebuild trust - wont be easy.

You wont be able to borrow again until 2037 smiley smiley - that means you're KAPUT FINISHED.

Lunatic rant from a brainless person

No wonder Kenya goes bankrupt every 2 years and run to the IMF.
Because your country can't produce good economist, Ghanaian economists have had to run your country for the last 6 years on how to manage your debt and seek for debt suspension for Kenya as the poor country it is
