Corn247:Dani Kayode did. He said yorubas and fulani are one. Anyways, I think it's stupid to try to equate an entire tribe based on individual sentiments. My former landlord was one of the nicest men I know. My current Yoruba neighbour is my G. He lost his brother recently and if not for distance and the dnsgers of Nigerian roads, I and the other neighbours would've attended the funeral in Ogun State. It's stupid the way we allow these politicians divide us based on tribe. And it's foolish that we don't know the elites are doing this because they know how powerful the masses can be. Look at what happened during EndSARS. People were protesting about the high-handedness of the police force and the politicians used ethnicism to break the whole thing apart. Even, some of the people whose comments you usually see on FB, making divisive comments are paid by politicians to do this, but we stupidly keep giving them leverage. Anyways, if Nigerians have refused to keep religion and ethnic sentiments aside, I think the country should be divided or better still, go back to regional government 1 Like |

GetSenseNow: Tribalism, racism, familism, clanism are all natural human instincts that can NEVER be extinguished. Everyone knows the simple solutions that can turn that instinct into a powerful force for good, but most people, including ordinary people, PREFER to exploit it. Christistruth03: Yes, the government owns all the land in my village. That's the LAW of Nigeria. Nobody has owned land in Nigeria since the UK colonized the country. That's fact. The Colonial Government wasn't asking permission from anyone to take any land for any purpose. The Nigerian people basically continued with that Law at independence. The law is immoral, it's uneconomic, but it's the law. I've seen the law acted on even in my hometown and seen the effects. Do you not know ANYONE whose lands or house has been seized by government? Not a single person? Even if you argue about land only, there's one law you can't dispute - once any commercial mineral is discovered on any land, it becomes property of the Federal Government, not even State government. Lack of property rights is a major reason for economic underdevelopment in Nigeria. For example, it's the major reason why mortgages are so few and far between in Nigeria and the ones granted by banks are very short term, because they KNOW the Government can take the land at any time and that land is the bank's collateral. It's curious how this subject is rarely discussed. Secure property rights by themselves can make a vast improvement in the Nigerian economy. 2 Likes |

JOemmy: Ogbos Landlord > Yoruba Landlord Most business premises and residential area are own by other tribe, most especially Igbos An average Yoruba man don't like working, that is why you hardly see them inside informal business apart from their state of origin We have only two hard working tribe in Nigeria HAUSA and IGBO If you find yourself in any location in Nigeria and you are unable to see this two tribe there that means you need to run for your dear life |

The truth is that Oba don broke and I'm foreseen this kind of things to happen more in the future because Lagos people have finished selling all their possessions and what is left is how to criminally recover them back from the weak owners. When I will become president, I will remove all the traditional rulers from seat and all of us will become one! 2 Likes |

Christistruth03: OK, not my battle, it has zero effects on my life or that of my family. Note that in my comments I've always emphasized the practical effects of whatever law. That's actually what counts. I've only now started to understand what you're getting at, which is the rights of indigenous peoples. You're trying to replace government tyranny with a Native Village version. Honestly that's fine. The more important thing is SECURITY OF PROPERTY RIGHTS under whichever version of the law you want. This is the very definition of instability and a lack of socio-political consensus. Your approach does nothing for property rights either and thus contributes to economic stagnation. Which is why I will never again invest money in buying property in Nigeria until there's more effective guarantees. I don't care either way. All I care about is making sure that when people pay money for property, that they get to keep what they bought and only sell voluntarily. Anything less means the economy will continue to underperform. Good Luck to you all. 4 Likes |

IbeOkehie: If some People didn’t insist that Lagos was no man’s land there would have been no need for this to prove that Lagos is not a No man’s land but is Yorubaland The Oba has not committed any Crimes by reclaiming his Seized Ancestral lands It was because of Strong Patriotism that you hadn’t heard from the Obas before now At least you have taught them a big lesson 2 Likes 1 Share |

A court decision from 1975? The developers are not serious why didn’t they resolve before now. Anyway na negotiations. Just others should be aware that Lagos o is not no man’s land. The only place you get leg in Nigeria is where you can find your grandfathers grave |

IbeOkehie: Nobody hates your People but Lagos is not a No man’s Land That is why you are always asked to do a thorough Title and Legal Search before purchasing Lands It is not the Land owners fault if your Lawyers failed to do the Land Title Search Properly Anyway the Obas are not unreasonable , they have human feelings ,negotiate with them 3 Likes |

Christistruth03:But oga, in this case, the oba is not discriminating against anybody. As far as you own property in the zone the oba identified, you are affected, be you Hausa, calabar, Yoruba, igbo etc. So how does the usual no man's land rant come into the issue at hand? Infact the likelihood of a non indigene holding on to his propery and even acquiring more from those seized from the indigene by the oba is greater because cash is might, and obviously, the oba needs money. 2 Likes |

Christistruth03: Oh, it's a tribal thing. That's natural, I understand and actually sympathize with you. I'm not writing that just to gain favor, I actually do. But the REALITY is that all of Nigeria is No Man's Land. The government owns all land. It's the Law. Sanwo Olu may choose not to enforce it for political reasons and that goes back to my comments about INSTABILITY where governments contravene the law to suit their purposes and THE PEOPLE tolerate it because it's to their advantage RIGHT NOW. If your target is Igbo people today, tomorrow it will be Ijebu or Ekiti immigrants to Lagos. I understand that such internecine conflicts were common in Lagos back in pre-colonial times. So my question then is, since you want your land back, do you support the people of the Nigeria Delta getting their lands and resources back also? Because that seems to be one area where everyone agrees is No Mans Land, in practice. Anyway, I live in the USA, my entire family is here. I have ZERO interest in Lagos, or Nigeria as a whole. There's more lucrative investment opportunities where I live, even by just working I can do better than putting my money at risk in Lagos. My comment is simply about rule of law and particularly property rights and how they have a potent effect on economic growth. Nigeria is a fine example of how legal instability suppresses development, that's all I'm trying to get across. Beyond that, it's not my battle. Good Luck to Nigeria. 2 Likes |

nedekid: Agreed The Land still belongs to a Yoruba Oba The Yoruba Tenants will teach everyone how to Pacify him if he is a reasonable Oba they will know what to do If he is a real Omoluabi merely begging him and paying him his land rent will do Some Obas still prefer Respect to money and still see Tenants as their Children |
