Just be patient, it happened to most of us. I left a job that was not to bad and came here in 2017, did warehouse jobs and security initially. It was hard, no doubt, and sometimes you wanna give up, but I was always remembered my family, and giving them have another option in another country apart from Nigeria is what I wanted. Fast forward today, i have a son, he is a Canadian citizen, and and my wife are Canadian citizens, and i am doing pretty well now financially. So just be patient and be strong willed. 41 Likes 4 Shares |

sihamey: Exactly my point on why almost everyone has become a YouTuber. They ain't doing so outta ordinary eye unto say they want you to know very personal things about them. But they need to keep uploading contents so they can generate views that of course leads to collecting $$ from YouTube. And if you care to know, depending on your niche YouTube pay $1 per thousand views. So a content that manages to generate 1m views pays the content creator $100. In reality that $100 na big money oh if you can get it, but how many indeed gets 1m views. 7 Likes 1 Share |

justwise: I know plenty of people arriving in my area of the USA with zero funds, nothing at all and in two, five to ten years, they're doing well, living a normal middle class life. Married with children, have jobs, cars and apartment or home, living not much differently from the average working class American. Are these people super Nigerians or what? 3 Likes |

Id say your should give it more time. 2 to 3 more years. If after then you still don't see a clear path then come back to Nigeria abeg. Atleast you will be with close family and friends. It takes 5 to 10 years to fully settle down abroad. Some may be luckier and do it in 2 years but that is often the exception. 3 Likes |

Bigcoconut: No, it’s too early to make that decision. All you need is a total mindset shift. You sound like you are yet to make the transition in your heart of hearts and using naija as a back up. That sentiment would not get you very far in Canada. I don’t mean to throw jabs at you, but I do know students who earn up to 100k per year in a less physically stressful working environment. As a new immigrant , it’s challenging . It doesn’t matter if it’s PR or Work permit or student, the challenges of a new country will always be something to consider when travelling abroad. My advise: 1. Check your circle of friends- you need a solid community to thrive not just survive. 2. There are remote CS jobs you can take on. Work remotely until your studies are completed. 3. Know that you will always have bills to pay and you will always get value unlike naija that you pay and still struggle to get value for your money. 4. If you are the outgoing type: know that the party you create is the party you get to attend. No “mogbo moya”. 5. Take your vitamin D drops daily to avoid depression. As Africans, the sun here isn’t enough for us. 6. Leave Naija behind in your considerations. It is not a back up. As a Canadian, the day you travel to other countries of the world is when you know the true value of your passport. It’s a breeze to go through airport checks. Bro/sis, if you need a hand. Reach out. 11 Likes 4 Shares |
