See, most of these guys are quiet comfortable in Nigeria that they have never had to do any odd job before. Them be ajebo. They only started doing it abroad.

What are you trying to say bro, because I may need the information.

Just be patient, it happened to most of us. I left a job that was not to bad and came here in 2017, did warehouse jobs and security initially. It was hard, no doubt, and sometimes you wanna give up, but I was always remembered my family, and giving them have another option in another country apart from Nigeria is what I wanted. Fast forward today, i have a son, he is a Canadian citizen, and and my wife are Canadian citizens, and i am doing pretty well now financially. So just be patient and be strong willed.

This is the reason most Nigerians abroad becomes YouTuber , TikToker and skit maker to survive abroad because the reality is done them over there, you can join them or you come back to Nija

Exactly my point on why almost everyone has become a YouTuber.
They ain't doing so outta ordinary eye unto say they want you to know very personal things about them. But they need to keep uploading contents so they can generate views that of course leads to collecting $$ from YouTube.

And if you care to know, depending on your niche YouTube pay $1 per thousand views.
So a content that manages to generate 1m views pays the content creator $100.
In reality that $100 na big money oh if you can get it, but how many indeed gets 1m views.

Stories like this is far too common now, people leaving Nigeria with little or no money to survive abroad, then we have threads like this people complaining that abroad is hard and Nigeria is better but they will never book the next available flight back to Nigeria and allow us to hear word

I know plenty of people arriving in my area of the USA with zero funds, nothing at all and in two, five to ten years, they're doing well, living a normal middle class life. Married with children, have jobs, cars and apartment or home, living not much differently from the average working class American.

Are these people super Nigerians or what?

Hello, guys
I don't want to bore you guys with long epistle. Yes, as the title suggests.

I travelled to Canada through the study route this January but I can tell you for a fact that I'm already bored with this place.

I'm redoing a 2 year program that I have already concluded in Naija but just because I want japa, I redid it. But that's not the issue.

The issue is that I'm working in a company but the department I was posted to was a physical demanding one..

To the extent that if I work for a day, I feel pain all over my body for a week. And this is seriously affecting my education because anytime i go to work, i wouldn't have the energy to do anything again as i would be so weak. but i have to work because i have bills to pay.

Nobody send you for here except you want sleep for cold outside.

Even half of my salary goes in the form of settling bills.

The work makes me depressed. This is not what I bargained for. .

For me to raise money for my tuition fees and travel expenses, at least I wasn't doing bad in Nigeria before i left. In addition, I hardly have time for myself.

My situation is even better, most of people who we came same time haven't found jobs yet.

My thinking is if I should ask for refund of my remaining tuition fee and relocate back Naija, or go back Naija and take some courses online, as there seems to be an option for that.

Always check the registration date to know how long the moniker has been on Nairaland. Some of them (they've been caught) are people who have been repeatedly denied visa to foreign countries and are currently on the mission to dissuade, create cock and bull stories to paint the exodus in a bad light.

I just checked .. He joined nairaland yesterday...

Many of you dont like knowledge or education. You just want to school to make better money..so there I skip the process for Una.

Id say your should give it more time. 2 to 3 more years. If after then you still don't see a clear path then come back to Nigeria abeg. Atleast you will be with close family and friends. It takes 5 to 10 years to fully settle down abroad. Some may be luckier and do it in 2 years but that is often the exception.

Be patient and persevere. Even for PRs I can tell you from experience that the first year is never easy talk more of you that came in via study route.

However, patience and perseverance is the key. I've been here 7 months now and it can only get better.

My broda, it's like that wen u first abroad oooo. Ask many successful People over there Will tell you they faced hardship before enjoyment.

Put on Perseverance, Patience, and do networking via church, old Students and more importantly Linkedln Connection.

Naija is not an option for you ooooo.

You might just set a new precedent.

Then again you might need more time to adapt 5-10yrs

Then again i feel America is the best place for japarains. Semi skilled workers like hairdressers, truck drivers make alot of money.
No be only a lot of money..

No, it’s too early to make that decision. All you need is a total mindset shift. You sound like you are yet to make the transition in your heart of hearts and using naija as a back up. That sentiment would not get you very far in Canada. I don’t mean to throw jabs at you, but I do know students who earn up to 100k per year in a less physically stressful working environment.

As a new immigrant , it’s challenging . It doesn’t matter if it’s PR or Work permit or student, the challenges of a new country will always be something to consider when travelling abroad.

My advise:
1. Check your circle of friends- you need a solid community to thrive not just survive.

2. There are remote CS jobs you can take on. Work remotely until your studies are completed.

3. Know that you will always have bills to pay and you will always get value unlike naija that you pay and still struggle to get value for your money.

4. If you are the outgoing type: know that the party you create is the party you get to attend. No “mogbo moya”.

5. Take your vitamin D drops daily to avoid depression. As Africans, the sun here isn’t enough for us.

6. Leave Naija behind in your considerations. It is not a back up.

As a Canadian, the day you travel to other countries of the world is when you know the true value of your passport. It’s a breeze to go through airport checks.

Bro/sis, if you need a hand. Reach out.
