inoki247: Some people have carried like 10k dollars enter US and made it in life. Sometimes it is about proper planning and some degree of being favoured. There are many Nigerians in us Canada making an average of 100k to 300k dollars per annum. Some even make millions of dollars People do menial jobs and make 100k at the end of the year. |

Op, I think the issue you have is that your job has to be around your school. Besides, I don't know if you are limited as a student to the number of hours you can work weekly. Anyway, have you considered getting a commercial drivers license to drive truck, ie haulage. I understand there is serious shortage of drivers and the seem to pay quite well, with insurance, medicals and even pensions. Maybe you should take a break from school, work for some time, save some money, you may not even pay rent as those trucking companies have truck stops for feeding, sleeping etc. Those trucks are also sleepers ie you have sleeping facilities inbuilt in the truck. To return to naija now get as e be. Things are rough. People are boning people now ohh. Nobody de dash or lend moni again. Poverty plenty plenty. NB: Abi has your person won elections? If so, make you come back then, look for position or contract. |

When you arrived in a foreign country , the road is always very rough. I will advice you to stay there and endure it for the next two years. I settled down in the UK after five years. It is easy if a family member has settled down before your arrival. Been the first comers, you can't found it easy. Don't go to Nigeria, otherwise you will start all over again. Nigeria will not be the same by the time you get back. |

Tadadobe: I don't think I've ever exchanged comments with you. You're not even bold enough to post your real name so why bother? I can bet you're one of those trolls that has taken on another Nairaland handle, you're either Treadway or what the other one, Ahiboilandgas LOL. Where did I ever post that Nigerians or anyone becomes a millionaire once they get to the USA? Where? I've never claimed the Anglo-West is perfect. We have our problems, I should know that having lived here for over 30 years. However, those are what are politely called 1st Word problems. And where have I posted that nobody can live a good life in Nigeria? I personally know Nigerians that earn over $1K per day working in Nigeria. That doesn't negate the truth that Nigeria has the highest poverty rates in the world according to recent data or that the unemployment rate is over 30%. I truly don't understand why simple truth riles people like you so much. What is a good standard of living? For me, having a family, it's owning a good home within a short commute of your workplace, owning a couple of cars, earning enough to afford reliable and safe water, energy supplies and nutritious food. Affordable education & healthcare for the children and parents too. Good communications and infrastructure should be available. Law and order enforced to the extent that most people can feel safe, a good measure being willingness to undertake an interstate journey at night. No need to live behind concrete walls with signs warning THIS PROPERTY IS NOT FOR SALE, that sort of thing. Whether in USA or Nigeria, that quality of life listed above will cost at least $30K per year. How many Nigerians earn even $10K per year? That's all. It's not too high an aspiration. The reality is that such a life is easier to attain in Anglo-Western countries than Nigeria or any African country. For that reason, I advise that any Nigerian with the means to migrate to the Anglo-West should take it without hesitation. Even President Buhari and his family know this, that's why they've lived abroad for over 40 years. He's a REAL PERSON and I admire his example. I'm a real person that anyone can check and find credible. And you? Your opinions are so deluded you're afraid to post your real name inoki247: Ummm, $100K in the USA isn't too high a salary. The median household income in the USA is now over $60K. I supervise workers with high school diplomas only who make $40K, in 10 years anyone of them with the requisite ambition can easily make over $100K equivalent. There's so much shortage of workers here, we're desperate to find more. Ordinary finding mechanic to work on your car or plumber to fix a toilet is now a problem, a friend just called me a few minutes ago asking if I know someone that can fix a washing machine. Anyway... To the OP, you would be a fool to return to Nigeria, a country where you have to use old currency to buy new currency to spend. Try and settle down, get married, learn a manual skill in demand if you can't finish university. If Canada is too bad, do what some people I know personally have done - come over to the USA. I started with exactly NOTHING, same for many others in this country and you can do it too. Good Luck. 4 Likes |

Exceed15: The bolded is something most Nigerians seem to be deliberately ignoring. Interested parties should please go and peruse Tinubu's manifesto and look at some of the policies he's promised to implement in Nigeria. No one has to be an expert economist to know it's going to get worse. The past 8 years is just prelude to perdition. Good Luck to Nigerians and their country. 1 Like |

In this day and age that you can make cool money online from the comfort of your bedroom with a laptop, nobody should be leaving affordable warm sunny Africa for this frozen wastelands like Canada. Except you are a core professional with a critical skill that will pay you tons of money. Those people in Canada will trade places with you in a heartbeat. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Seagodess:did you intentionally not read the part he mentioned 'body pains'? Instead of you to be have some empathy and advise him to see a doctor for health concern, you are quick to judge. Is Canada and UK same place? Did your neighbour say she is working alongside study, or working only? You seem to judge based on a one-sided story. |
Re: Thinking Of Relocating Back To Nigeria From Canada by IbeOkehie: 5:48pm On Apr 09, 2023 |
OChimex: So if Nigerians are lazy, how come most Nigerians in the USA are living at a middle class standard? It's not about whether anyone can make it anywhere. The REAL question is how easy is it to attain a good standard of living in the country you choose to live in? What are the statistical odds of success? That's the real issue and it's not complicated at all. Venezuela is rich in crude oil and natural gas. Venezuela is in a protracted economic crisis. It's EASIER to attain a good standard of living in Canada than in Venezuela. Having said that, there's people living like royalty in Venezuela, just a very, very small percentage of the populace. That's the reality for now and the forseeable future. Have a good day. |

inoki247: You really talk from a point of ignorance. Guy your Nigerians are working legitimately and making mad money in the US. Do you know how much they pay masters and MBA holders in the US.. the salary typically ranges from 80 to 180k per annum...and when they begin to advance to mid level, they earn 300k, 500k to even millions of dollars. How much do you think people earn in the USA? Your people are making mad money in US and that's why people can do anything to get a green card 3 Likes |
