9 quarts or 8.5Litre to fill up a dry transmission. But to drain and refill, you need 4.5 quarts

Omo! This is the reason I have not changed my Rx350 gear oil. After buying the WS gear oil, I have kept it in my car boot for a month now. A lot of our mechanic don't know anything and I don't want somebody to put holes in my pocket by messing up my transmission...πŸ™„πŸ™„πŸ™„

Read your car manual. It should tell you the procedure for changing your transmission fluid and the quantity needed. With this you can monitor what your technician is doing and call his attention when he is doing something contrary to the manual. When is changed my transmission oil for my car july last year, my mechanic was arguing that I needed 5 liters or it won't gauge while my manual says 4.2 liters. We argued and I stood my ground. He says na 5 liters him dey put for others with my car brand, I said no. After he put whT I asked him to put and gauged it, it was correct. The remaining trans fluid dey my boot. So read your car manual and guide your mechani accordingly.

Don't be afraid
Delay in maintenance could be dangerous.

Provided it is NOT leaking, drain the fluid and refill with the exact volume that was drained.

Thank you. The culprit is bad ignition coil, I successfully replaced the cable as advised by my mechanic and car is now working fine. Thank you.

Good to know you got the problem fixed.
It would be nice if everyone comes back to give update on the repair process and fix for their car problems.
It would help the community and future readers learn one or two things as what we do here is remote diagnosis to guide you or your mechanic on what to look out for which cannot be 100 percent perfect diagnosis.

Hello House, I drive a Honda Accord 2007 model with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine...

But recently I have not been enjoying a smooth drive as the gear all of a sudden while in motion stop changing gear until I stop and restart the car

Once I restart the car the whole system reset to normal and it picks and works normal... Everytime the car's gear stop changing I will stop and restart or put it on neutral, off engine and start again

The car can work normally for a month and all of a sudden it will start malfunctioning again for months

My mechanic introduced me to a rewire who changed the turtle mouth, changed the brain box and did other things but still the same issue...

What can you advise... This can be very frustrating

Please help
Without any check being carried out on the gearbox itself? That mechanic and rewire are ridonkeylous. Gearbox malfunction is usually not a brainbox problem when it's not a Mercedes or an Audi, except if the gearbox has been replaced with not an exact type of tranny for your honda but it will still throw codes regardless.
Anyway the problem only indicates that there are electromechanical components in the gearbox that needs lunch break after working for a long period of time. That means they're getting tired. Start with a diagnostic scan and post codes here. Then you can proceed to a comprehensive transmission service which includes fluid chang and solenoid cleaning. Hondas don't use single unit valve body but individual pairs of solenoids externally mounted to the gearbox. Have them cleaned up and let us know the improvement

Can anyone recommend a good gear mechanic to help me drain my rx350 transmission oil and put in another WS for me? Location is Lagos mainland.
Except you have issues with the transmission, changing transmission fluid is almost the same as the engine oil but with some extra procedure. You can contact me on 07061169333

Honda Accord vibrations

Let me try to explain this issue.

Car drives well.

However, when I apply the break and the gear on DRIVE, rpm goes to 500 while the bonnet vibrates....that is engine vibrations.

If I turtle just a bit let's say rpm increases to 700 vibrations stop and further drive is excellent.

Car idle smoothly in PARK around 700-800 rpm.

Please note that all engine mount are in top shape.

Car is Honda Accord 2007.

My question.

1. Why this vibrations?

2. Rpm is not low on idle ( car in Park)
If rpm is low, can it be adjusted in Honda Accord 2007?

It is a puzzle that has remained unsolved.

Kindly help me.

Codes

P0141

P02185.

I don't think they have anything to do with the vibrations.

P0141 is for downstream oxygen sensor. It's just for Cat monitoring and emissions.

P02185 is for the second ECT sensor at the radiator.
Yahhh! The codes has nothing to do with the vibranium. Did this just start with the car or it has been since you bought it?
Was your engine disassembled recently? Need answers to all of these please

Good morning kingreing, jceesquare an other car gurus. I drive a 2008 acura tsx.
On Feb 24th precisely, my serpentine belt cut. I called my mechanic and he sent his boy. He claimed he was too busy to come. Getting the right belt was quite difficult for the boy since the old one really shredded. First one he got was too small to fix. Second one was too big. Finally got one that sized it and the car started. But ever since then sometimes my car battery fails to start my car till I borrow someone's battery. It has happened like four times since then. I want to rule out alternator cause I believe once u start a car and remove the battery head, if the alternator is bad, the car will go off. Mine does not go off till i put my battery back. And whenever i jump-start using someone else battery, i can use it up to two weeks of daily driving before the next incident.
What prompted me to write this was that stuff embarrassed me yesterday. I escorted my friend to his introduction. I was parked somewhere waiting for him to drive up and meet me and we start going. When he came, my car refused to start. Car I drove out from the house. My battery is 75amps. He brought out his own battery which was 65amps and it couldn't start my car. I had to beg a sienna transport driver and immediately I put his battery my car started immediately and I paid 2k. We got to the venue, I switched off the car and switched it on, e no gree start again. We went if for what we came. The introduction was a long one. We came out 3 hours later and the car started one hand. I got home, parked it and later started it and it started immediately too. So what could be wrong? Is my battery bad? 7th of may will make it one year i bought the battery. I have started seeing thread in the new belt that was fixed on Feb 24th. It was since this belt was fixed I started experiencing this.
I have no OBD codes. I scan my car frequently with my scanner. If my car is on and I connect my scanner, the battery voltage hovers around 13.5 to 14 volts.

Right now I am contemplating should I buy a new battery? But I feel one year is too small for my battery to have issues. Should I change that serpentine belt?
Or it the fault from my battery connector cable?
I need professional advise.

Prior to the shredding of your previous belt, was your car experiencing battery drain and startability issue?
If yes, you need to probe further to find the fault, if no, have the alternator voltage checked when car is running on idle with:
1. Battery voltage before starting of vehicle,
2. one terminal disconnected,
3. both battery terminal connected,
4. battery terminals connected and all electrical loads turned on
5. Battery voltage after engine is turned off and terminals disconnected for 1 hr.

Use a digital multimeter with its dial at 20V and test then revert back with the voltage readings at the above tests.

To add to what kingreing typed, hookup your multimeter to the battery terminals then ask someone to start the car for you.
If the volt drops below 10 - 9 volts when the engine is cranking, one of the cells in the battery is likely bad.

What brand of battery did you buy and how much If new?
Also what's the manufactured date?
Most Chinese battery don't last that long if that's what you have. A simple thing as running into a nasty pothole is enough to snap 1 cell off those batteries.

Where is the car located?
You need a competent technician to handle that vehicle as it’s engine is a complex type.
