KPGGlobal:That wasn't a plea bargain. It was a civil forfeiture. For plea bargain, you must have pleaded guilty for a crime. Tinubu doesn't even have an arrest on his record let alone a guilty conviction. |

jaxxy: I really appreciate our back and forth with no element of abuse so far. Kudos brethren. Back to the subject matter, with your argument, you'd realise that there is no case here then, because what the law opines and zeros down on is to bar previously convicted felons from public office. If there was no criminal conviction then there is no case |

abbey621: Nobody anywhere would allow such huge amount of money be paid into his account without asking for, or knowing the source of the money, even in the 1950s. Tinubu was supposed to know more about that because he claims he worked as an Accountant in America then. Don't lie anymore, as you did in the bolded above. |

Raskimonojendor: You are correct absolutely!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You do not need to convicted, It stated below. Just tell us where the money you forfeited came from! you are Our president to be abi? Is it too hard to ask Civil forfeiture in the United States, also called civil asset forfeiture or civil judicial forfeiture,[1] is a process in which law enforcement officers take assets from people who are suspected of involvement with crime or illegal activity without necessarily charging the owners with wrongdoing. While civil procedure, as opposed to criminal procedure, generally involves a dispute between two private citizens, civil forfeiture involves a dispute between law enforcement and property such as a pile of cash or a house or a boat, such that the thing is suspected of being involved in a crime. To get back the seized property, owners must prove it was not involved in criminal activity. Sometimes it can mean a threat to seize property as well as the act of seizure itself.[2] Civil forfeiture is not considered to be an example of a criminal justice financial obligation. Proponents see civil forfeiture as a powerful tool to thwart criminal organizations involved in the illegal drug trade, with $12 billion annual profits,[3] since it allows authorities to seize cash and other assets from suspected narcotics traffickers. They also argue that it is an efficient method since it allows law enforcement agencies to use these seized proceeds to further battle illegal activity, that is, directly converting value obtained for law enforcement purposes by harming suspected criminals economically while helping law enforcement financially. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_forfeiture_in_the_United_States 1 Like 1 Share |

I can never forfeit my hard earned money I legitimately made unless I have a gun to my head ... Forfeit money to any govt means you have two choices. Forfeit the money or go to jail. Only thieves go to jail. Govt will never ask you to forfeit legitimate money. 1 Like |

No 1: We don't know the exact reference that was made in that regard. No2: they asked FBI not Chicago police department. The records of Tinubu's drug "criminal" case is with the Chicago police department. the FBI is a federal institution but the police department is a state institution. So, this your attachment proves nothing. The courts documents are verifiable so APC can't say they are fake. If anything, it's this thing you put that is fake. |

Tinubu is a drug dealer. The FBI/DOJ doesn't get these things wrong. The troubling thing is that they didn't charge him. Seems like they had a pretty good case seeing the money was in his account. Makes me wonder what else he gave up or is still giving up in exchange for that to happen. His story of how he came to get that money is mind numbing incoherent. People's defense of him esp. in this thread is part in parcel of why Nigeria is the way it is. Just be honest and say, "I don't care what he did, I want him to be President for <insert reasons here>." 2 Likes 1 Share |

tonididdy:Restitution will only lower sentencing. Please note: I am not saying Tinubu's hands are clean. Don't get me wrong. What I am saying is that in this case, as per law, he walked away unscathed. The only hit he took was a dent to his reputation. |
