Good day house, my toyota camry 2007 LE model suddenly stopped selecting gear while on motion,it doesnt select gear 4 and 5 despite increasing RPM/acceleration, i checked the transmission oil and discovered that it didn't guage and the oil is really dark, a mechanic changed the transmission oil and washed the oil filter. The same issue still persist after doing all those, I consulted a gear specialist who scanned the engine, see result attached. The specialist said he will have to work on the gear at a cost of 100k. I don't have this money at this point, what advise do you have for me.

Afolabibukola09: P0746 is the major culprit. Did the gear specialist explain what he wants to do? I am afraid he may damage it more and enjoy your N100k. That 13 pin is not so easy to repair 1 Like |

Thank you for your response, he actually didnt explain what he wants to do, he only said he will collect the money after he is done addressing the faults. He claim that is how he works, payment after addressing the issue. What do you advise? |
Re: Automatic Transmission And Gear Repairs In Nigeria by Dozieson(m): 10:38pm On Jan 07, 2023 |
Afolabibukola09: Let him tell you what he wants to do if he really knows the fault. Na story him dey talk before you know he will collect money to buy parts and that is it. Study P0746 from google and YouTube and compare to his explanation 1 Like |

Hello Dozieson automatic 05 corolla here in lagos. Faulty dragging shift. So called gear specialist drop gear said it valve fibre. Charged me and changed all that. Car not driving smoothly. struggles to leave gear 1 and vibrate terribly in gear 2 before stabilizing in gear 3. Same thing all over if I step on brake. Later find out it oando detron 3 oil that is inside my transmission right now. Any hope of remedying this as no much cash to get a toks transmission right now. Any recomended gear specialist here in lagos would be higly appreciated |

My gear had issues after changing my inner cup. It won't drive but only reverses. The valve body was services and if started driving but finds it hard to clock into 2 or 3. After carrying out a scan, code error P0746 came up showing "Solenoid A Pressure pump Stuck off/on." We've changed that particular pressure Pump 3 times now my car still finds it hard to move to 2gear 2 or 3. All the gearbox techs are suggesting converting to 10 pins. Some say fibre, some say gearbox rewire should check the gearbox connections. What can I do? It's a 2006 Camry, (BFN) with 13 pins. |
Re: Automatic Transmission And Gear Repairs In Nigeria by Dozieson(m): 8:46pm On Feb 11, 2023 |
pivotal2: Pele o. That inner cup change has killed many gear box due to contamination. Don't do 10pin because you will not like the car again. Gear 3-4 will be hard to achieve, car will not move fast and car will vibrate more. Just replace with 13pin and have peace of mind 1 Like |

Does that mean ... No repairs can be done to fix the problem? Like changing fibre or checking gearbox wires? |
Re: Automatic Transmission And Gear Repairs In Nigeria by ipobcannibals: 10:30am On Feb 12, 2023 |
pivotal2:Nothing is wrong with your transmission/gear box wiring….Do not touch those, or you will attract electrical issues. Just change the Transmission/gear box, with the right type of transmission fluid (Toyota type IV) and be at peace. |
Re: Automatic Transmission And Gear Repairs In Nigeria by Dozieson(m): 11:11am On Feb 12, 2023 |
pivotal2: Except you want to try a change in valve body. How much is the valve body? Fiber is not the problem. Best bet it to buy a toks gear |

I have been using my Toyota Camry since last January, bought it Tokunboh. How do I know when to change the gear oil or have it serviced? The car drives smoothly with no issues. |

Re: Automatic Transmission And Gear Repairs In Nigeria by inikamoze(m): 2:48am On Feb 17, 2023 |
Dozieson: It's a 4plug, 2005 Toyota Camry aka Big for nothing. I bought it last year January 2022. The mileage was about 155k when I bought but it's now 160k plus in mileage. |
Re: Automatic Transmission And Gear Repairs In Nigeria by Dozieson(m): 9:24am On Feb 17, 2023 |
inikamoze: were you the one that imported it? if you buy from a car stand and very sure its oil was not changed in Nigeria, there is no need changing it for now |
Re: Automatic Transmission And Gear Repairs In Nigeria by inikamoze(m): 2:50pm On Feb 17, 2023 |
Dozieson: I bought it from a dealer her in Naija, I didn't import it myself. Although when I bought it and was doing some minor fixes, I noticed mud underneath, meaning it must have been driven around in Lagos or environs for a while before I bought, aside that car is in top shape and performs very well. |

Please I have an issue with my Honda 2009model I recently got. I noticed it drips oil underneath when in motion, it's so bad after it drives for just few kilometers, the D light starts to blink which makes the the ride drag. I have checked the gear oil, it is still in the same gauge and the colour is still very pink or red. It does not smell burnt. What can be the issue. Because of this, I have not driven it out. |

Friends, It’s my first time here I just notice fluids drop underneath my Highlander 2008 now after buying fuel from a station. After closed observation, I discovered it’s a gear oil leak. It’s minimal and gear oil is still gauged form my checks But I am worried. Has anyone had this issue before, please how was it fixed ? |
