OBAGADAFFI: Thanks I thought as much, that Tony should have more Transcorp than Femi. I picked from newswirengr that info of Femi owning more shares in Transcorp. https://newswirengr.com/2023/04/12/femi-otedola-overtakes-tony-elumelu-to-become-transcorps-largest-shareholder/ |

locodemy:Chai.... It was you and mcy56 the that drag lasaco to my attention. I got some afolabi quantity but share reconstruction make me cry.. I wanted to sell at loss and move on, but one day my gut told me hold lasaco and recover your hard earned cash. So I hold , frustrated last year with the results, but smiling in 2023. #PatienceIsTheKeyInNSE 2 Likes |

BabsO2: Who owns what shouldn't be much of a concern. Our goal as investors is to align accordingly and tap from what would be in it for us. ...this should take higher precedence. The rise in the price of TRANSCORP could potentially set it off to N2. I foresee the likelihood of a "bidding war" with a positive would-be impact on the investing public. (shareholders) Remember what happened with FBNH btw Sir FO, the folks @ LEADWAY INS and Sir Oba Otude** The bidding war actually helped propel the price... because everyone wanted to ... They may not even be done with FBNH yet. Expect something similar (perhaps even more) with TRANSCORP. A lot is going on at the background in the power and oil & gas sectors. Again, NOT to be inferred as an investment advice. |

So with just 3.1billion naira Otedola becomes majority shareholder in transcorp with all its assets including power generation firms, hotel, and oil wells to mention a few. BabsO2: 1 Like |

Mpeace:I did similar calculation last year, when TRANSCORP was trading around 97k to 1 naira. In my mind, I was like.. so if I have like 2B naira I can become a majority shareholder in the company. Money sweet oo |

I am smiling at this Transcorp jackpot for some of you but we the long timers that came in during IPO around Ndi Okereke's time still have our haircut yet to grow back. I just hope that it will keep picking up; maybe we can make our investment capitals back onegentleguy: |

perfectgen: Subscribed to the high priced IPO also. It was painful seeing the price drop subsequently. Despite some hype floating around that time. Have averaged down at various times. And took profit a little, at a time when some I bought at a lower price went up. Still bought some last quarter. |

Could there be any impact on the increased 3rd party insurance fee from 5k to 15k per annum on insurance sticks like Aiico. Your suggestion please. |
Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by yMcy56: 4:50pm On Apr 13, 2023 |
BabsO2:Not true. UBA Nominees is still the largest shareholder with 9.25% shareholding while Femi Otedola is the 2nd (with 5.52%) as at today...... Unless he increases his shareholding..... See the attached....

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Lion123: 5:16pm On Apr 13, 2023 |
yMcy56: But no one knows who UBA nominees is. For all we know, UBA nominees might be made up of a consortium of shareholders. Ote$ is still the largest individual shareholder in Transcorp today as we speak and if he wants to vex, he can begin fight with TOE. I'm just surprised at how Elumelu owns such a tiny stake in Transcorp and yet he is so powerful in the company's affairs. 2 Likes |

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has announced new guidelines on the management of dormant accounts and unclaimed balances in banks. The apex bank has created a designated account, the "Unclaimed Balances Trust Fund Pool Account," where it will collect all eligible accounts balances that have been dormant for ten years or more. The eligible accounts include current, savings, and term deposits in local currency, domiciliary accounts, proceeds of uncleared financial instruments, and unclaimed salaries and wages, among others. The CBN said it would invest the funds in Nigerian treasury bills and other approved securities and return them to the beneficiaries within ten days of a request. The new guidelines take effect immediately, and any bank or financial institution that contravenes them will be fined. |

They are more like a custodian company for debt and equity. Seems a lot of the tier one banks have such in their portfolio. Stanbic IBTC asset management limited uses Uba nominee's account to receive money from investors for some of the funds they manage like the money market fund. https://www.ubagroup.com/investor-relations/global-investor-services/ Lion123: 1 Like |

debeey87: If quarterly cash transactions is looked at closely, the currency change taking place in January, naturally meant a lot of old money was returned and the given new ones by CBN dispatched to customers. This need to be handled. And would have resulted in a spike in activities in 2023Q1 with respect to cash handling than other quarters like 2022 Q1 to Q3. Banks had to work extra at weekends in 2023Q1 to handle this cash movements. 2 Likes |

Olaide1295: It's surprising that you would ask such a question, considering the vast number of portfolio options available. With an assumed constant of 150 stocks over the past decade, there could have been over 1 trillion (1 x 10 to power 15) unique portfolios consisting of 10 stocks each, each with its own diverse returns. It wouldn't even make sense to compare bonds and the NSE index (which can be done) since it's not feasible to purchase the entire stock market. Based on some research, I couldn't find a study related to NGX and Nigerian bonds though, but typically stocks have provided higher returns than bonds, despite being riskier. One study I found of US stock portfolios vs bonds: https://web.archive.org/web/20200709083020/https://digitalcommons.georgiasouthern.edu/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1120&context=sbr 1 Like |
