She is right since God made clear that He only answers the prayers of the righteous. you must first become holy and then righteous in order for God to answer your prayers. So, if one does not seek first the Kingdom of God(Holiness) and then God's righteousness, well all other things(answers to prayers included) will not be added. Without those, you are simply engaging in a meaningless ritual.
