Those who cheated, and many who didn't, got treated the same by HO and many were deported or went through lengthy appeals.
Even now they are seeking to criminalise all boat crossers - genuine asylum seekers included.
So as you've said, people need to be careful before reporting, but also do as much due diligence as possible on potential sponsors, because the reality is that taking legal action against an employer is not that easy or quick, especially for an immigrant who needs a sponsor to remain in the UK.

I equally have a pending issue with the man before the preg saga surfaced.

Was paid completely (working hours) from December until February however in March i discovered was short paid with almost £630
I demanded for an explanation and insisted it was incorrect
They requested for my working hours, which I provided every single thing they needed
Later accepted they would resolve it perhaps it was an erorr from the account team and promised to have my complete money credited ASAP.

Just yesterday, they announced it was my tax that was deducted and i asked which type of tax... I told them its my first job besides I thought I should enjoy tax free for my first 12k as a care worker...
I Requested for my pay slip (which they have never given me before) and I have not gotten a clear response though they agreed to prepare all of it but I am scared they might just doctor it like inec

Please elders I also need una advise... is it possible to double check if I was truly taxed? Via pay slip or are there means to verify this claim.

I think that's the only way, cos as long as there is a market for them , there will be more unscrupulous agents eager to make money.

That's what the gov is hoping will happen by being harsh on the boat crossers - fewer people will think the journey is worth it (if they end up getting sent to Rwanda for example) and the smugglers' business will dry up.

Unfortunately the UK gov has abolished many of the safe routes to claim asylum from outside the UK. There are presently only a handful of legal/recognised refugee/settlement schemes - Afghanistan, Ukraine, HK. (And the Afghan route is tenuous at best).

Other nationals fleeing civil unrest, political oppression etc, especially those with family in the UK, are arguably left with little choice but to get to the UK by any means - before being able to claim asylum.

Cardiff? - cost of living is fair for a capital city but I find it a bit pricy for a small city of that size (my personal opinion though).

Newport is cheaper, located between Cardiff and Bristol. So you can live in Newport and work in any of the 2 cities.

In terms of work, I don't have first hand info on that but shouldn't be bad.... your work experience matters too though.

He just called me now to ask what they can do as they just discovered that the high comission will not be opened tomorrow being public holiday. This wasn't known to them not until they got the information from someone else.

What happens to the appointment they were given. They tried to go on the NHC website to reschedule the appointment to another date, but they keep getting a response that they cannot reschedule an appointment at that location (London). They are contemplating either to go there on tuesday and scared if they would be attended to.

Kindly please advice. Its urgent as the wife is going to london on a bus tonight.

This English thing I heard it in passing , didn't even know it was serious or that many were impacted.... this home office self. I noticed when there are issues you are very much on your own

I can't wait for all these my carer relatives to get ILR , because many of these care employers are just doing anyhow

The website doesn't allow to reschedule. If its a public holiday then no need to enter bus

However it was listed here that missed appointment people can walk in. I haven't tried it but I too have a missed appointment

Missed appointment would be attended to. Was at the HC yesterday and someone whose appointment date was in July tried his luck and came for biometric capture. He queued up and was allowed in.

Your friend's assumption is not realistic.

S/he could have reached out to the agent/landlord to clarify the leave date and assumed grace window. Only what's written can be referenced.

From my experience, s/he would have to pay for the extra days spent outside of the tenancy agreement or payment window. Often, agents will propose to take the fee for those days from the deposit.

Your friend should have a reasonable conservation with the landlord. Negotiate the extension terms. Everybody wan make money. No free food for Freetown.

Home office can be funny..... a friend sister came on sponsorship and the employer was playing fun and games with payroll. Paying them like half and cheating the employees and some people paid for cos

Someone reported and now home office after investigations has taken licence and asked the business to close

But guess what there was no protection for those on Sponsorship. 60 days notification
came for cos employees to leave or switch .... now my friend sister is stuck as she has one week left of 60days and might go home....so why its easy to report all these employers Home office is not doing anything to protect you if they lose licence so immigrants have to tread carefully
