Good day all. "Please, I really need guidance. I am presently in Canada on a Visitor Visa. I accompanyied my teenage child who is on a Student Visa. My Visa does not permit me to come outside of the house that much, and I also cannot work with it. Now that is my challenge. Someone suggested I should apply for asylum. Another person suggested that I should apply to convert my Visit Visa to a Work Visa. I have started the process but it is taking so long, with no end in sight. Another person suggested I should apply for Permanent Residency through an immigration lawyer. The immigration lawyer I contacted mentioned something about I need to be on Work Permit before applying for PR. But most recently, someone suggested that I should brave it up, and take all my documents to Canada Border, and explain myself, and request that I be given a permit to work in Canada. That it will work out. I don't really know how this plays out. Please, I need sincere responses on this. Time is key for me concerning this. Thanks a lot." |

I will advise you to honor the terms of your visit visa and go back to Nigeria to avoid messing up your immigration record. People are telling you all sorts of things now only to abandon you when the chips are down. I really don't advise people seeking asylum cos it can be really messy. Try the following two options, and if none of them works by the time you near your 6th month on your visitor's visa, extend it officially or go back home and re-strategize. The two options are: 1) Look for someone (mostly nanny job) or a company that can give you LMIA and hire you. That is your only route to work permit. 2) Adjust status from visitor's visa to a student visa and go the study route. essentialone: 9 Likes |

I pity the gullible ones that will fall into this trap. If that Gudosa of a person is not a registered business and he is actually exchanging his acclaimed thousands of dollars, I trust Canadian banks to blacklist his account. Moreover, I thought soliciting is not allowed on here. dtrixna01: 3 Likes |

Hi, First-of, this is Canada NOT Italy, if you have a valid visitor's visa and have not overstayed, there is no limitation on how often or where you can go outside. 2nd what will be the basis of ur Asylum? Put yourself in the immigration officer/eventual judge's shoes, especially since you can afford your child's education in Canada. Then PR is off the table for you for now. Going to border with your documents may result in legit deportation and eventual ban cos the legal term of ur visa says you can't stay beyond 6 months per entry. I feel your best option is to focus on getting a job with LMIA from an employer and apply for work permit before the 6 month elapses. P.S: Whatever decision you make, try to NOT OVERSTAY or do something illegitimate as this may affect if you will be allowed to re-enter Canada in the future even dou ur child is here. As someone advised if necessary, leave first take time to re-strategize and come back better informed &armed. Ìrè óoooo essentialone: 6 Likes |

Eboski: I am exactly in your shoes. Offered admission to study Occupational health and safety management. I will be looking forward to responses to this. However, due to their cheaper tuition fees, I am willing to take the risk and give it a chance even though the school doesn't offer program that offers PGWP after studies. I currently got a visit visa, even though I am married I intend to go alone to make it easier for me to sort myself before sending for my family. Finally, another route is after the completion of the CCEC program, u can get another short course and that will qualify you for a PGWP. Would like to share more ideas with you if you don't mind. I have sent you a mail. 1 Like 1 Share |

Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 22 by Bernice123456: 8:33am On Apr 22, 2023 |
Republic001:Do you have a first degree? If yes, then you should be going for something higher not lower. I believe you have applied before and you indicated your first degree. Don't come and lie in your application that you don't have one now. You maybe misrepresenting your self. Instead go for a PGC or advanced diploma 1 Like |

Guys I have submitted my visa application ( close work permit). last night, I got a message from Ministry de l'immigration de la francisation et de l'integration, basically welcoming me and asking me to register for free French courses online to facilitate integration OR register in an approved French school in Montreal Is this a sign of Visa approval.....I want to start rejoicing. |
