Following archimedes principle, it should be B. For those who are familiar with the story of Eureka! Eureka!!. You will realise that most scientific discoveries are by chance.. 253 Likes 12 Shares |

B Archimedes principle: Weight of object immersed equals weight of liquid displaced. B has negligible weight, occupying negligible space in the cup, hence more water in the cup. #Secondary school physics# 263 Likes 17 Shares |

CivilianJTF: What you wrote there is not Archimedes principle. According to Archimede's principles, when an object is immersed in a fluid (liquid or gas), it experiences a loss in weight equal to the mass of the liquid displaced. 104 Likes 3 Shares |

C : displaced more water as the heaviest object The volume measurements on all cups remains the same Verdict: each cup has same water volume B : displaced less water C : displaced more water . 4 Likes 1 Share |

None of them have water in them. The eraser and the earplug would float if they were in a glass with water. Also the paperclip and the scissors would have a partial magnification affect going on because of the way water displaces light. 31 Likes 2 Shares |

Don’t know the weight of each of the objects so can’t say. It is evident from the content of the water level through all the samples! It is possible all the objects have the same Weight as well as Mass! 1 Like |

RepoMan007:Archimedes' principle states that the upward buoyant force that is exerted on a body immersed in a fluid, whether fully or partially, is equal to the weight of the fluid that the body displaces. Archimedes' principle is a law of physics fundamental to fluid mechanics. 11 Likes |

CivilianJTF:There’s a difference between his statement and your statement. You wrote “Weight of object immersed equals weight of liquid displaced”. That is not the Archimedes’ Principle. Your statement also can’t be correct because weight of the object immersed may not necessarily equal the weight of liquid displaced. For example, imagine an iPhone that happens to weigh 1000kg, and a Toyota Highlander that also weighs 1000kg. Would both objects displace the same amount/weight of water if dropped in a swimming pool that was filled to the brim? No, they will not, the Highlander will displace more water because it has a bigger volume than the iPhone. Volume is the determinant factor here, not weight. 23 Likes 2 Shares |

Seagodess:all what you just stated though in line with Archimedes' principle, can only lead to conclusion about the objects relative weight and notthing conclusive about their volumes. The glass with more water is suppose to be the one having object with least volume immersed into it and when I look, intuitively, the least volume object is the office pin and so the glass with the office pin is my own answer. Though same as yours but I see no need or relwvance for Archimedes's principle here. 6 Likes |
