In SA, AFAIK, you can finish your (research) MSc in 1 year or 2. Ensure you're focus on the research. Get publications, whether conferences and/or journal (but not predatory). Towards the end of your thesis, apply to the European countries you desire for your PhD. You stand a good chance.

As regarding your postdoc friend, he needs to be #transparent with you. Between you two, you must know the name of the dept/university, the potential supervisor. 8f your friend will be the supervisor, you need to know. Most likely (s)he might be a co-supervisor. Is the bursary departmental or school or faculty or university bursary or is it NRF rated researcher linked grant bursary.

Regarding whether SA is better or not, that I won't venture into: Indeed, SA has deep rooted issues! However, you can read inbtw the lines in the first paragraph.

Thanks bro for your advice, the university name is North west University, Noordwest. Research is in Chemistry department though I studied Chemical Engineering 1st degree.
The supervisor is also a Nigerian and had already contacted me via email to forward my transcript asap, he even agreed to pay for my SAQA stuff.

go ahead .. ..you can move from there if you don’t like there and I think you’ll also get stipends in research. Take the chance

Please how long did your application take…I applied for South Africa visa through Lagos Vfs which surely was processed at South Africa high Commission Abuja..

I want to ask how long did your visitors visa application takes before it was requested for stamping because my application is 10weeks but yet haven’t recieve any message for return of my passport

Mine was a study visa nd it took 5months plus, eventually came out with an error. I returned it through vfs Lagos, weeks passed by and no response, had to follow up directly with d embassy only to discover they didn't submit my passport. If u resides in the south or West nd u want swift response nd u have money to spend, I'll suggest you submit to vfs abuja, they deliver documents to the embassy every day, that I witnessed.

This is a very important issue you raised here. Abuja seem to be alive.

Please friends, I'm still confused why people are going to SA in thousands, isn't the same country I heard that their unemployment and racism is at top gear?

One of my family friends who's a Post doctorate fellow in SA told me he got a Bulsary for me over there (Research Msc) and that I should hurry and grab it and come over there , that I won't regret it (he wasn't explicit though) but I'm still having double mind whether to go or not cos at present I'm managing a job of 80k,had it been is an European countries, I won't even think twice. Please is SA better than Nigeria in any form? Thanks for your genuine reply.

I can't answer the rest of your comment but the bolded I can..

Take it from a born and bred,full-blooded South African.South Africa isn't just better than Nigeria in all facets but it is the BEST country in Africa. And despite what you might have heard about levels of crime, South Africa is still relatively safer than most African countries.

You hit the nail by the head. South Africa 🇿🇦 is the BEST country in Africa

They do take electricity there just like Nigeria but they’re apps to track when the light would be brought back unlike Nigeria where they just take electricity at their own time without any notifications

My evisa tourist application and that of my kids were submitted exactly 1month ago, and we're still yet to get an update up till now.
My husband's own which was submitted 3 days before ours had been approved since 4th of April.

Is there an option for fast tracking? Date presented for travel is just around a week from today. Kindly advise.

hello everyone
can someone pls enlighten me?

I am about to apply for S A Visa.. I have been advised to visit Abuja. Fine

I would be going for a training that won't last more than a month qt most

1)what type of visa will I apply for?
2) when booking for appointment in Abuja office, how long will it take to be given an appointment date?
3) how long will the processing take?
4) do I need a police clearance, medical record, radiology for a short term visit of less than a month?
5) what is the difference between single and multiple entry visa. which would I be applying to for a month visa
6) do I really need to provide the bank statement of my host company?

thank you for your prompt responses. God bless you

Hello Everyone,
Please can someone explain the South Africa visa validity to me. I got my Evisa approved and it stated that valid from May 5 to May 31st. Also its Multiple entry and duration of stay is 10 days.
My question is, does that mean I have to enter and use 10 days within the validity period above? Can I travel there on May 28 till June 5th

Validity- Approved number of days you can live in SA.

So , MAY 5TH - 31ST is the number of days you can stay there. It is a visit visa you applied for, do not over stay, visit and come back to home country.

Multiple Entry - With those number of days allowed to stay, you can visit 10DAYS ONLY , meaning 10days on first trip, another 10days on second trip.

Simple words there. Congratulations

U can only stay 10 days I guess and ur Visa can only be valid from may5 that means ur travel should occur around may and not leaving around June .
Reason why I said u can only stay 10 days is because once u enter SA for example on the 6 of may ... u need to leave on the 16th making it 10 days otherwise u are overstaying.
Ignore the multiple entry written u only stays for 10 days because how can u stay 10 days and still leave and come back again? It's a waste of money naa . Or that can only be for the case where u are leaving SA to Mozambique or Zimbabwe... for them to let u in again within the 10 days.
Just saying my own .

Do not forget.. u cannot stay for the whole May 5 to 31 ..

Haha .
I can see u havent been to the country or anyother African country my darling.
SA is never the best . Not even the electricity wise or anything .
They are doing goods yes I accept but naming it the best I do not agree .
It's only in south Africa that I saw a kid being robbed and stabbed in a park and
Absolutely nobody cared . They were all minding their business. Tell me where can that happen in Nigeria ?
🤨 At least the way they even release Visa is a good way to say how good a country is .
Just saying my own 😏
