Hello house. I submitted through dropbox for a conference and was asked to come for follow up. This should be my 3rd visa and i have attended the conference every year except for covid... The follow up date im getting is in May and the conference was in march. However, This conference holds twice a year. Do i need to update/change my info to this new date? Please how do i go about this? Please assist me. |

chantalzuma:Your visa is as good as approved. Just go for the interview with whatever information you're asked to bring along on the box ticked on the 221G letter which accompanied your passport. They're aware your programme is past. I'm sure they're not asking you to complete a new DS-160 ( which is a proof they're quite aware of your purpose) Please do the following: Print a copy of the expired conference invitation letter alongside the paid invoice for the event,if any. Have your bank statements printed (they hardly look at this though, just in case) If you're married, look for your marriage certificate and take it along. Get your kids birth certificate(s) as well. If you're self employed, take along your CAC, C02 and C07. A copy of your DS-160 profile page A copy of your scheduled interview letter for the May interview. A letter explaining your mission in the USA and importance of the conference to the growth of your company and what it has benefited your company over the years. Remember they now issue 5 years visa. Even though you missed this year's event, you still have 4 subsequent ones to attend, taking advantage of the 5 years visa validity. Take along the 221G letter( very important) NB They're aware of the japa syndrome so they need to be convinced of your intention and ties to your country. On the day I went to pick my passport, I saw a lot of passports in which one yellow letter( suspected to be a 221g letter) was inserted in each so, you're not alone and it's not an issue, especially if you've never overstayed and you didn't tell them you were going for a visit or vacation while you actually went to give birth( this is for the ladies). Many applicants always wonder why these people got to know of all these despite not stating it in their DS-160 or during interview. All their systems are synchronised such that people's info can pop up on request, including airlines you boarded with the help of a FoI act. This isn't to create fears in applicants' minds. They just crave honesty. Good luck!. 2 Likes 1 Share |

Good evening house, Please for those asked to reschedule for follow up, what was the status of your application when you tracked it? Was it approved, issued or rejected? Thanks for your input. |

Mandydaisy:My cousin's status showed refused. A week later, he received a mail that his passport was ready for pick up. A box ticked on the letter only said he should print his DS-160 copy and come with it alongside his passport, the scheduled follow up appointment letter and the 221g letter on his interview date... different applicants with different scenarios I guess. |

I believe ur going for a conference paid for u by ur company and never a vacation.Attending a Conference doesn't mean go with ur family. U mixed up family vacation and business together hence the denial . segsdynamic: |

PeachtreeReside:You're right...this is for those who had already submitted applications via IW and asked to show for a follow up appointment/interview ( i.e, those whose applications were refused on 221G) 1 Like 1 Share |

Enyinne: what i blv went wrong is you sponsoring your family ... the company should take responsibilities of a complete family package for the trip .. so you sponsoring your family for the trip with your pocket money is a red flag that your family might not return back as a japa syndrome everyone should think ahead and be smart if going for interview ... the mindset of every VO interviewing a Nigerian in Nigeria is set to be japa due to the country current situation.. they saw what is going on with UK .. 1 Like |

abusigna:I think if they have easy way out as UK many pple will also flood their country. So UK opened a lot of opportunities for migration unlike US. But in my knowledge regarding US non-immigrant Visa it's absolutely at the VO discretion and they are psychologist. 1 Like |

abusigna: Ur points might be valid, but I think US VO thinks differently individually... even before applying for the visa, we aiidy think of it if my company had sponsor the whole family and at the same time, we think it might be a red flag as VO might think if we didn't have the fund on our own as a family to go on vacation. Same scenario another VO will think differently and approve us the visa. US visa is just Grace of God. 4 Likes |

segsdynamic:I agree with you. It is the Grace of God at work in you to properly equip you in all required areas to succeed. Grace also provides you with the wisdom of how to follow through with your application. I've seen VOs said to be harsh and dashing out colored papers until they met someone and suddenly became somewhat friendly. The application of that someone was Graced. Graced with purpose, planning, and provision. I shared my wife's transcript in 2017. At the time I had over 10milimeter in my Aza so there's Provision. I needed to prepare her for Purpose and coached her extensively at my own detriment because we fell out more than once about my invasive questions. Guess what, she had great time with the lady VO who she said was very harsh. During Covid, we stayed away from the US Embassy even with valid Canadian Visa at the time. We visited the UK with the entire family this year and submitted our passports for IW when we got back and got 5 years. I know someone who is going for conference and wanted the family to tag along and they got the Visa. So I don't believe you were refused just because of this. More Grace is needed and you can work towards it. 4 Likes |

jayfierce: Its funny to me whenever we Nigerian or black African nation ,always talk about favor & grace in most of the things that are num happening around the world.. i had lived in many countries name it: Asia, Europe , Oceania ,i ve visited The US embassy in those countries and i noticed how simple and straight forward the interview goes ... Why? because travelling is not there thing , interview appointment slot ? you can book and get a slot that same week.... but when it come to us here in Africa .. we do fasting, praying , some we go as far as doing sadaka , something he or she never did in his/her life, just because of US Visa... So the judgement of the VO denial is simple ... conference and not tourist.. i bet you assume your company paid for family trip you will get the visa ...America cherish family .. I REST MY CASE.. Can someone help out? I will be flying to New Jersey with my wife and son in October 2023 for the first time. We've bought our tickets already and we don't need a visa because we have approved ESTA our European passport for waiver. My question is: (1) Newark in New Jersey is where we would like to stay for the 2 weeks, but we wish to visit New York for like one night or so. Please how can we get to New York from Newark New Jersey? Cheapest transportation fare & route, location? (2) We are still searching for accommodation for the two weeks in Newark New Jersey, all the accommodation I've seen so far are on the high side over $1k. I want something like $500-$600. |

Indigbo:Try greyhounds. From NJ, you could link up NY more easily either by alighting at the NY Washington Bridge or NY Port Authority Station, depending on your route from NJ to NY though and where you're headed in NY . Take a train from either of these 2 locations to wherever you're going in NY. It's more economical and even fun cos with the family |

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by Eriokanmi: 5:16am On Apr 25, 2023 |
oakenfold:In my opinion, anyone applying for IW appointment in Lagos should consider Isolo DHL's office and I have my reasons. Isolo is the DHL's HQ in Lagos and Nigeria. Sorting and onward conveyance of parcels are done at Isolo, regardless of urgency of such parcels for in-bound and out-bound deliveries if you apply at Isolo, chances are, that you'd get your passport back faster cos your documents won't be taken elsewhere but straight to the embassy. In fact, your case could be updated at the embassy within 24 hours of submission. They now charge 4,500 for drop off and pick up at Isolo. I think it was started early this month. I got a mail a few days after I submitted my passports on the commencement of the 4,500 charge. I only paid 4,500 once though. The mail said they'd be charging 4,500 both ways but it only affected those of us who submitted passports in march once cos we didn't pay any money when submitting documents. The development came after submission so, it skipped us. |
