The suggestion from the last ENT consultant is the true solution to your problem, same thing happened to my friend in 2005 when he newly gain admission to study medicine in University of Jos, he almost drop out of school when he lost his hearing ability as a result of typhoid, he managed to graduate as a medical student, Even though he wasn't hearing at all. He saved some money from housemanship, traveled to US and was operated upon, they insated what they called implant inside his head and with the use of an hearing aid he can now hear very well and leaving his normal live. You shouldn't be talking about destroying your auditory nerves, you should be talking about correcting the problem. If you destroy your auditory nerves today and there is a way for you to get help tomorrow, you won't stand a chance of hearing. Note: my friend operation was done Free of charge by an NGO that usually visit Nigeria in search of people with such problem. My friend only paid for flight ticket. All other expenses was done by the NGO including visa fee. Don't destroy your auditory nerves because you don't know when help might come.
Yep! Hearing aid is the answer, i have Tinnitus in one ear, first time i noticed it i nearly cut my ear off. i had a heavy cold flu and woke up with Tinnitus, i also worked in a noisy environment, i was a drummer in a band, i was a lorry driver, i worked as a bouncer inside a night club. I don't know if I should call what the OP is going through an advanced stage of Tinnitus. It could be due to the drugs those doctors administered to you. I pray you get help. 🙏

I want to believe that this problem came about as a result of prolonged wrong medications being given to you by those so called doctors, how can one treat malaria and typhoid for one year. Most of those doctors only create problems in the place of solving problems, they create more problems in the process of solving a problem

They might have solutions to your problems as it seems to be a severe case.
There is one in Lagos and Kaduna try visiting either of them.

The first one placed my on one drug called betahistine(i forget the correct spelling) for months.
The other one in abj advice i should always engage in exercise and prescribe some simple drugs
The third one told me to continue with the first drug and hope for the best.
The other one wash my ears with an unknown solution, and gave drugs too.
The last i visited suggested an operation, that i will need some test outside the country and a possible inplant in my ears which will cost millions. Lol me wey never see 200k cash for my life, that was when i gave up

What you are suggesting is beyond me, i can't boast of 5k in my account presently but would have raise something like 50k or slightly above for any surgery that can make my head silent. Kindly discuss with your ENT specialists if they can do Round and Oval Window Reinforcement surgery, which is safer and relatively simpler that the Neurectomy you were contemplating.

Have you tried visiting the national eye centers for solutions.
Think they have centers in Lagos and Kaduna, try either of the branch you are close to.

I would have long go for the surgery if not for cost involved. The specialist told me that it is done outside the country only. The side effects were much according to him but if you take away this noise in my ears and allow me live for just one year, i will be ok. I can't kill myself, never, but death is nothing compared to what is happening to me
So sorry about your condition, have you tried using noise cancelation headphones from Apple, Sony or any good brand to see if it helps keep the noise away? About those guys, isn't there a way you can report them?

FYI God i'm not experiencing any quietness at all, infact, its the noise that is killing me slowly. And if that is the only way God can invite me, then i'm not interested in his kingdom or heaven. Antibacterial agents like, the class of aminoglycoside(Gentamycin etc) causes ototoxicity as side effect, which is usually reversible upon stopping d drugs, ur condition is truly rare, pls and pls visit an ENT clinic,come to Enugu state! So sorry for ur ordeal!

If your tinnitus is subjective (i.e caused by noise, ear infection, drugs, or other unknown cause etc) congrats you're on your way to a swift healing.
But if it's objective that is, the Doctor or anyone else can ear it, then you may want to check for heart conditions and other issues.
Let me repeat, TINNITUS, can be CURED 100%, I'm a living testimony and others who've tried the method below.

Don't be scared. You can use this in three ways, however, before use, ask someone to check your ear drums with a flashlight, if it's not perforated, then continue; if perforated, allow it to heal for 2-3 weeks.
Method 1 1. Remove the old back, cut the onion, grate it, and squeeze the juice. Then with a teaspoon, bend and expose the affected ear upwards and put two drops in it, and cover it with cotton wool to retain the juice inside. It might feel cold, but your body will adjust to it. Op try Empley manoeuvre. You can google it and watch the YouTube video. I once had tinnitus and that solved my problem. You could also check your cholesterol level. Try see an ENT doctor as well
